| The Lounge | I Think I Might Have a Problem | Nov 04 2007 20:32 (UTC) |

For example, when I was younger I used to make cookies and I’d heard about people who poison their families so then I worried that I’d poisoned them even though I know I didn’t so I’d throw them away or eat them all. Then, recently I read something on GURL about some girl being molested by her older sister. Then I started to worry about what if I molested my sister? Of course I know I didn’t, but I still have that guilty creepy feeling like what if? What if? This sounds like the obsessive-compulsive disorder to me. A lot of people think it's all about organizing and such, but it's not. What you've described here is another characteristic of it. It's an obsession with losing control, and it can ruin your life if you don't do something about it. It's important to realize that you will never do these harmful things, it's just that they will constantly invade your thoughts. You don't have to live like this, though. You need to talk to a therapist immediately and learn how to deal with all of it. I'm obsessive-compulsive and I have the same problem. These kind of thoughts are more mild for me, though. The ones that really interrupt my life in particular are the thoughts about germs. It's different for everyone. I'm not diagnosing you, by the way; but you should see a therapist and tell him or her about everything. Incase you are obsessive-compulsive, you want to catch it as soon as possible and begin doing something about it. There are medications out there for anxieties. There's also cognitive behavioural therapy which may help. |

| Your Score Is.... 88%! Congratulations, you scored in the highest percentile. You don't let very many mispronunciations slip by. No sir, not you. You speak quite properly, and everyone is impressed with your command of the English language. But do keep in mind, you probably come across as bookish and pedantic! |

| Weight Loss | Chiristmas present to ourselves: lets lose 15lbs! | Nov 02 2007 07:27 (UTC) |

I would like to join in! I'm not sure what my exact weight is right now, but I have an idea that I'm around 199 lbs. Our scale is off by 10 lbs apparently, and it says that I'm 189 lbs. I'll be going to the gym tomorrow to renew my membership, so I'll weigh myself there this weekend. I would definitely like to lose 15 lbs by Christmas. I would feel so much better about myself. It would be an excellent Christmas. |

Actually, it turns out that there already is a Christmas weight loss thread that people are active in. Here it is: http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/643 01.html Go to that one instead. Mods, you may lock this! It's unnecessary now! |

Maybe they did notice, but were afraid of bringing it up? I would be! You know what's funny? Once I gained two lbs and my mom was congratulating me on my weight loss, hehe. Moms are always trying so hard! XD |

If you're having trouble controlling yourself, throw it all out! Either that or give it to some children and they can enjoy it. We have bags of it, and so far I've avoided binging on it. I had four mini chocolate bars a couple of days ago, and four more one day later. It's pretty good considering that in the past I used to eat nearly all of it in one day! |

Just try to be calm with her. She's your mother, so deep down she wants you to be happy, but she's probably worried as well. She'll probably always have the same opinion about what your weight should be, so it's pointless arguing about it. Keep it up if that's what you want to do, and maybe avoid futher discussions about weight with her! :P |

| I gave up begin vegetarian because of the gas. It was so embarrassing. But I realized it was the soy...
When I stopped being vegetarian, I still continued to eat just as much fruit and vegetables. But no gas. Guess what it was? That damn soy milk. I'm buying rice milk tonight. Hopefully I can find some fortified stuff, but I am definitely not drinking soy milk again! |

| If he actually said that he's not attracted to "fat chicks", then he doesn't deserve you, because that sounds like a big insult right at your face. And he is unhappy because of the lack of sex? There are more important things in life, and better things to share with the person you love. He doesn't sound like a real man at all.
If I was in your position, I would divorce him. I'm assuming you wouldn't, and I'm not suggesting it, but it is a possibility. He sounds like a 16-year-old trapped in a much older man's body. Demand support and respect, otherwise... and tell him it's time to act his age. |

| Weight Loss | So i ate alot of cereal today......... :( lol | Mar 30 2007 02:55 (UTC) |

| I ate three bowls yesterday. :P It's so good...so many delicious flavours. Sometimes I eat nothing but cereal all day, while still sticking with 1500 calories. If I don't once in a while, I binge on it and can rack up 2500 calories easily. | |||

| bigtwinky: Does this power ring make me look fat?
jazzislove: Good job! It probably does work for some people, but the ones I know have a hard time with it. They hit a plateau and give up completely. So I think calorie-counting is necessary for some people. Especially if you like flexibility and control at the same time. I find that easier when I keep track. |

| Weight Loss | Probably the biggest challenge I'll ever have | Mar 30 2007 01:57 (UTC) |

| I'm a chunky 15-16 as well. I'm a little depressed, too. Not as much as I used to be, but it's frustrating not being able to lose weight the way I want to. I keep falling off the wagon. Those good days are priceless, though. The ones where you eat great and feel good until the next day! And whether the next day is good or not, you can only hope.
I can't say much, except that you just have to push yourself. You have to avoid over-eating calories, even if it will make you sad. Sometimes I eat to feel better, but that's the worst thing to do. Find something else to focus on, like music or reading! I find that music helps distract me, and especially reading if I can lose myself in a good book... |

| Weight Loss | Can't reach daily calorie intake! | Mar 30 2007 01:43 (UTC) |

| Almonds - 7 calories per almond. I'm totally addicted to them since I started eating better. I eat them in moderation, though.
Whole wheat pasta is good, too. You can blow 300 calories easy with one serving. It's filling, though, just avoid the white stuff. Empty calories. The whole wheat stuff has protein and fiber. Way healthier. What about a serving of yogurt with a serving of granola in it? Maybe throw in some fresh fruit if you're up to it. So good. I use Nature's Path brand granola cereals, which are about 140 calories per 1/2 cup. They taste great in vanilla and peach yogurt. MEOW! |

| Weight Loss | All this talk about carbs and BREAD.... | Mar 26 2007 12:45 (UTC) |

| Your BRAIN runs on carbs. You need them. Eat complex carbs, like brown/wild rice, whole wheat bread and pasta. That saying, without them you will be mentally and physically sluggish. | |||
| Foods | Fat free Low calorie = Fatter population? | Mar 26 2007 12:39 (UTC) |

| People who gain weight over fat-free and low calorie foods simply don't understand calories, or they just love food too much and eat outrageous portions of it at a time.
My city is trying really hard to crack down on the obesity epidemic. Our health care system is in bad shape, so they're trying a new angle. They are always showing news specials on how to cut your calories and such, and spreading awareness about various fast foods. Also, they're passing a law to make trans fats in restaurants and bakeries illegal. Oh yeah. It makes people upset, but it's for the best. |

| I found out that the muffins that my mom used to bring me home everyday from the store were 600-700 calories each. Ugh. I think the muffins from Starbucks have around that many calories as well. It was shocking at first, but now I'm not surprised any much. I just do my absolute best to avoid that stuff. It's all just "empty calories" anyway. | |||
| Health & Support | SOOO Frustrated with PCOS!! | Mar 26 2007 06:04 (UTC) |

| I'm worried I might have PCOS. I got some blood tests taken a while ago, for that and other things. It turns out my thyroid is fine, thank goodness, but they have to do more to see whether I have PCOS or not. Perhaps an ultrasound, I don't know.
I don't have any information for you, but hang on! I know it's tough. You can fight this. |
