So, my best friend and I gave ourselves a challenge. Our goal is, for the next three months, we will work out five out of every seven days, with four "cheat" days for illness, Moon Time, etc. At the end of the three months, we will reward one another with a present (probably a cute tshirt or something) I'm really excited! I've tried to have workout buddies before, but sometimes it just gets hard and we end up flaking out on one another, but my best friend and I have been together for so long, we won't worry about being mean or hurting one another's feelings! Also, knowing that she gets to buy me a reward at the end of the three months makes me really excited! after we do this, we might have a duel working out/calorie counting challenge. Woot!

also, first day of work today, and I'm taking my stop watch and pedometer, trying to figure out how far it is. It's literally up hill both ways (kind of like a V shape... I live on the top part of one side of the V, and the coffee shop is on the other side) and both hills are SO steep, so that will be great for my knees, and my cardio, since I'll have to work hard to climb these mini-mountains.

hope you all are doing well. =D

Hey Ladies! *feels the love*

I got a new job, which I'm pretty excited about. I'll be riding my bike to and from work, which will be good for me. Also, I'm trying to convince my best friend to be my workout buddy. I think it will be cool because we've known each other for our whole lives, so can be mean to one another if we need to be, and also, we can reward one another if our goals are met! *glee*

Also, spent a lot of money on clothes that fit, which I'm really excited about, and I'm finally going to clean out my closet and dresser, getting rid of stuff I've been hanging onto since high school. *sigh* I'm not sure how this will make me feel about weight loss, but at least my bedroom will be cleaner, and I'll be dressed nicer, too!

hope you all are doing well! Belly dancing for me tonight!

Hey all! thanks for your words of encouragement. I was doing so well, hit a plateau, got lazy, and had a great summer of beer, fast food and chocolate. Lol. I've been working out with a friend, and thought I'd get back on the eating well wagon, too. I know I gained some weight back, but not this! I'll take your advice, watchme. I'll give myself a few days of eating right and taking care of myself, and see where I am then.

Ah well. At least I know I can do it, right? I mean, I've done this twice before. And they say, third time is a charm!

take care, all.

So, Just poking my head in to say hello. The weather is cooling already and the summer is already over, so I'm excited about getting active outside. Yesterday my husband bought be a cute little vintage bike so I hope to make it a habit to ride it around town - keep me fit AND help save the environment! Also, I decided today is the day that I start counting calories again. I know this first week will be hard (it's always the hardest) but I know I can do it!

love to you all!

and AMAZING Dalma! you sing at that party and you rock their socks off!

I've been uber uber uber busy this summer, and haven't really had much time to keep track of all of my online stuff. I got a few messages from Watchme, and I thought I'd just peek my head in and say hello! I hope you are all doing well, and I'll be back soon... I'm sure. ^_^

love ya!

Hey, are any of you ladies on Spark People? I'm using their exercise videos a lot (don't have a working tv) and while I'm there, I might as well add you as a friend! (if I can figure out how to do that)

Watchme -

Please don't do what I did, which was lose heart and then just stop trying. Now I have to do it all over again, start from the beginning. It got hard and I got tired and disillusioned. But I can do it this time, right? We can both (all!) do it!

Hey guys. I've been busy, or at least, trying to keep myself busy. Lots of hours at work, some writing projects, chores and crafts around the house... watching a lot of south park... (lol) Anyway, but I'm back.

The whole weight thing? I totally don't get it. I know diet and exercise work because they worked me for me last winter, and then I stop losing, despite diet and exercise, and then I stopped diet and exercise, and I didn't lose anything (of course) but I also didn't gain. I just don't get it! But oh well. Even if I haven't lost any weight, I still need to do healthy things. This isn't just about looking good, but being healthy, too, so even though I'm not a size 12 (hah!) I can still do things to help my heart and muscles and being healthy inside is better than just looking healthy.

That said, boy, you guys are doing so good! I can't even keep up! lol But I'll try, because I love you all, and you're always there for me and for one another, even when I'm not there for myself or for you!

I tried some weight control oatmeal for breakfast today, but then when my husband asked me about it I compared "weight control oatmeal" with just plain old oatmeal, and the numbers are so close, I don't even think it makes a difference. So, what's the gimick? Instant oatmeal isn't even that much faster than regular oatmeal, and regular oatmeal only has one ingredient - oats! As opposed to all of the preservatives in instant oatmeal. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well, enjoying their summer, and treating their bodies well!

ALLY -  I work with a whole crap load of people who always eat organic WAY expensive stuff from whole foods. We work at a coffee shop! wtf? how do they get money for that? I mean, it's really great to eat organic and all, but like... I have car payments and student loans. LOL I don't know. I wrote a LONG rant about the "classism of food" on my journal that kind of talks about that... not that I'm trying to promote myself ^_- *cough* I just want you to know that I hear ya, sista!

also, hope everyone is doing well. I ran yesterday. Well, really I jogged and walked. That's as close to running as I'll get. I'm not sore today. Wohoo! It's raining today so I'm not running outside. I hope it's clear on Friday when I have my next day off so I can go out again.

happy middle of the week!

Hey, kids!

Is there a good website where I can find information on the Couch to 5k plan? Or is it a book I should buy? I keep on seeing it mentioned here, and I'd like to know more!

and that said, to the ladies who sent me information about Sparkpeople - thanks! I did a few of their workouts they have posted and my friggen thighs were sore for two days. yikes! but, that said, thanks again!

I ate crappy, SO crappy, yesterday! I have like a million macaroons at work and beer and cream cheese spread and just tons of high fatty, high sugar foods - and the scale is still in its happy place! It's so frustrating because some days I'll eat so little and eat well, and the next day I'm up five pounds, and then sometimes when I say "scew it!" and I just eat what ever, the scale actually dips. I DON'T GET IT! ah well. done with my mini-rant.

have a good rest of the week, everyone!

I'm bbw. I'm totally proud of it. That doesn't mean I'm lazy and or gross and eat all day and am non-athletic. I'm bbw because 1 - I'm big. 2 - I'm beautiful. 3 - I'm a woman. I haven't resolved myself to being fat forever. I don't want that. But I have resolved myself to being BIG forever, because that's just my body shape. I come from Vikings. We aren't little petite things. I'm always going to be big because my ancestral women had big hips to birth and carry children. I'm always going to be big because the women who came before me in my family had large shoulders to do farm work and survive. A petite woman would not have survived working the land. I am the proud result of generation after generation of hard working, determined, BIG BEAUTIFUL WOMEN.

I'm bbw and yeah, it's hard and frusting to find clothes, but I make due. I'm bigger than all of the girls at work (who weight between 100-130 lbs, all of them.) Hell, I even weigh more than the men, but I'm STRONGER. I can open jars and lift boxes that they cannot. I walk to and from work every day - two miles. Most of them drive. So yeah, I'm fatter than they are, I'm BBW compared to them, but in many ways I'm more active.

My husband and I, when we make love, it's robust and agresive and fun, we use one another's Indo-European bodies against one another in ways that would break a petite figured man or woman.

I'm fat, yeah, I'm BBW. But have you seen those old statues of the Goddess? The Original Creatrix of All Things looked like me. She looked like you. She was totally a BBW. She was life giving and beautiful - the original super model sexual fantasy ideal woman.

Sure, I'm fat. Sure, I'm a BBW. There's just no getting around that. (unless I call myself a bpjw - big plain-jane woman! or buw - big ugly woman.) But even we BBWs can get down with health. Because isn't being healthy not about what you look like (fat, skinny, round, apple, purple, square, rectangle, etc) but about... um... HEALTH. Big can be healthy, too. Just as sometimes skinny is not healthy. I may not look like a rock star super model Olympic runner, but I take steps to eat well and exercise, which is more than what the rest of America and Western Europe can say. I'm bbw, and I'm healthy, too.

I could hide behind words like "thick" or "a few extra pounds" or  "more to love" or "heavy"... but out of all of those, there is no celebration of the body. At least BBW has the most important word of all in it -  beautiful!

Help! I have a problem! My tv is caput and so I can't use my exercise dvds and tapes. I can use my computer dvd player, but I only have a few workouts on dvd, not much room in my office to workout, and I'm too poor to invest in new dvds. Does anyone know of any websites or anything that offer free workout videos online? I haven't even searched youtube yet, which I will do, but I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone knew of anything.

Thanks in advance!

Watchme - I totally think you carry weight well. I think you're totally hot! But then again, I guess "well" is objective. And I totally know what you mean about stomachs! I have like, two and a half right now. *sad face* I can't wait until I back to just one! From what I have read, though, stomach fat is the easiest to gain and the easiest to lose! yay for me!

Anyway, in my opinion, curvier girls carry more weight better than straight girls. I'd rather see a fat hour glass girl than a fat rectangle girl. So, I think women with hips and butt and thigh and boobs look better at 230 than petite women with no curves at 230, but that's just me! That's why I HATE comparing number stats with other women, because body shape can make such a huge difference!

but... these are just my opinions. lol. what do the rest of you think?

Really cool link, Watchme! thanks for sharing!

the thing is, though... for all of you who are worried about not looking like those people posted - think about your body shape!

I have a friend who recently posted pictures of herself on facebook. She's about 5'2 or so, with a super super petite body, but she has put on SO much weight in the last year! I'm 5'3ish, and very "big boned" (for lack of a better word) and I know I weight much more than her, but she just LOOKS so much fatter. (I know. I'm trash talking my poor friend... I just want to tell her to stop eating coke and snickers for dinner!!! ew, Emily, no!)

The thing is, with my big hips and shoulders, I can carry weight better and not have a double chin and stuff like that. Emily, who is much smaller than me bone structure wise (NO hips and NO butt), any amount of weight on her looks like way too much!

So, the moral of the story is - numbers don't matter! They aren't the beginning and the end! it's what inside (bones!) that count! (hahah. I know. cheesy) Just before you start beating yourself up *cough.fallon.cough* just think honestly about the shape of your body, and not the numbers. While it's true that numbers don't lie, they aren't the whole story!

*end rant*

sorry. =P
