Even though I'm not a runner I still thought it was starting off rather easy for week one. I mean hey, who can't run for 60sec, right!?! So I set off this morning, did my 5min warm up walk wondering if it'd be wrong to skip a few weeks ahead and then my 5min was up and I was off into a jog...60sec seemed to last forever! And then my 90sec walk seemed to rush by!!! By 5min (2min actual running) I thought I was gonna die! Luckily before I had children I was a competitive swimmer so I do understand what real pain is and so kept pushing. By 10 minutes I thought I was gonna pass out and I made it round our (rather large) block by exactly the 15 minutes so I stumbled inside and collapsed on the ground hardly able to breathe and totally unable to continue the last 5 min! Took me a good 15min to recover and be able to breathe again, while my children and husband watched in amusement! :) As hilereous and incredibly horribly sore it all was it was great! I haven't had a decent work out like that in ages! Was nice to get the heart pumping that hard.

Am listening to one of the podcasts now, these seem great! Am definitely gonna start using as it was kinda hard keeping an eye on my watch while running! :)

Hi Bellgirl,

How did the podcast go? Is it music that has a voice over telling you when the 60 sec run starts and the 90 sec walk starts? Or is it a motivational tape type thing??

Hi there, that sounds great!!! I've never been much of a running but that sounds great!

Week 1
Workout 1, 2 & 3:
-Brisk five-minute warmup walk.
-Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20minutes.

 

When you say "Workout 1, 2 & 3" what exactly does that mean??? *sorry if thats a dumb question*

Date: 10/9

Muscle Strength Training: 45min 

Walked for 4 hours so far today!!!! Every part of my body is hurting! Its a nice overcast day that didn't end up raining for a change, perfect walking weather! My babies are SO over there pushchair and now running madly around outside! :)

I think about 45min of the 4 hours was up hills. Nasty nasty hills!!! Its only 2pm but decided to log it in now cause I can't see myself doing anything (apart from stretching out my sore legs) for the rest of the day!

I love feeling sore! Its nice to know that something is burning! :) CC says that I burnt 1400 calories walking!!! So thats pretty exciting!

Blue - Congratulations on your loss! That is SO awesome! Well done.
         Fruit isn't too badly priced at the moment, coming into summer it'll all be about to drop which is nice. NZ is great at exporting but sometimes charge us more for the few things they left in the country cause we export too much! Lovely government we have! My sister makes her own bread, its a great idea but don't think I'd actually get around to doing it. :)

Went supermarket tonight and fizzy drink is less than half the price of bottled water! It is really getting to me at the moment how much we get charged for trying to eat right!

Coach K- yeah frozen veges are much cheaper and its good cause you don't have them going off. I love using frozen stirfry mixes.

Faith 74 - Welcome! Good luck on your weight loss, my family is also very skeptical at everything I say I'm gonna do. So stick around and we'll all prove them wrong. ;) We can do it! (even if in the passed we have failed!) And yeah I eat more now than I did when I wasn't loosing weight...takes ages to reprogram that starving ourselves doesn't = weight loss! 

AllDolledUp - Well done on the variety of fruit and veg! Your doing great!!! And consistent cardio! Are you feeling heaps better? 

 

BQueen - Can you (or others) give suggestions for strength training? I'm more comfortable with cardio cause I love walking. But will be good to challenge myself with something outside my comfort zone!

Oct 05 -  2.5 Hours!!! Got in a grump with life and so stormed off by myself at 5pm, walked into town which is an hour one way. Wondered around town for half an hour, sat down at a cafe where a friend works, drank two large cups of coffee and walked home. Got home at 8:30pm and was wide awake from the stupid coffee till 2am!!! It was insane!!!

Starting Weight (SW): 204.6lb

Current Weight (CW): 199.6

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 5lb (gain 2.6lb this week, TOTM so that doesn't help)

Target Goal Weight(GW): 154lb

janeau123 - I live in New Zealand so its just gone Spring as of 1st September, is slowely warming up. Stupid climate change, used to be warm in October now we gotta wait till closer to December and hot only really January and February! But yeah we pray for nice weather for Christmas Day!!! Usually a nice day to lie in the sun after a nice big feed! :) And then the days between Christmas and new years are like compulsory beach days!! :)

 School holidays over, school goes back tomorrow so will be able to walk more. Been hard having my 5yr old home cause it limits how far we can walk. So will enjoy sticking the little ones in the pushchair and going for long walks...or atleast thats the plan! :)

 Anyone have any suggestions on healthy food when on a budget? My hubby is currently inbetween jobs so we have no money and it sucks. I was doing so well 
with eating salads and wholegrain bread and steak! (mmm steak!) And now we have nothing green and leafy in our house left! So no fruit, no salad, I'm stuck on cheap nasty $1 white bread, Spaghetti, 2min Noodles and crab carb food like that! Its really rather depressing so I haven't been entering my food log cause I know I'll get myself down and I can feel my mental health isn't the best at the moment so I don't need to know how bad I'm being and add to the self loathing!

Hi!

Thanks for everyones encouragement! 7lbs in the 2 weeks I've been dieting has been a great motivation to keep going.  And yet so far this month I've been totally off track!!! Got 3 teeth pulled on Friday and so my mouth has been so sore I spent the weekend eating Mouse and Custard which are 100% fat!!! Didn't enter into foodlog as I new it would get me down! But its all good, I can almost eat normal now so maybe I'll start good again tomorrow. ;)

Oh and my keyboard has been broken for a few days too which is why I entered my numbers and that was all. Wanted to write how excited I was when I entered my stats but half the letters on my keyboard were out of action!!!
So yeah good fun! :) But very excited on my progress and look forward to a big drop this month so I can be skinny for summer and long days at the beach over christmas!!! :)

 Will get my measurements done at some stage too....

dieguito - No offence but your friend has serious issues!!! I don't think pizza is worth eating if your gonna boil it! Yell That sounds revolting!!!

And so I'm going to have to go with everyone else and say, enjoy it! Take small bites and savor it as long as you can so you don't feel ripped off about having only one slice!!! The worst you can do is feel guilty cause then you'll just ruin the whole point of the pizza and it takes the enjoyment away!!!

Really bad weekend, was doing really well Saturday all day but then a friend came over and so we went and got burger king for dinner...which kinda defeats the whole purpose of dieting all week!!! And then today my calorie count was higher than during the week, but not over my limit. But then I had a coffee for breakfast, Toasted sandwich for lunch (thats where the tomato came in) and then a coffee and box of chocolates for dinner!!!
So really healthy today! (NOT)
But I got my pushchair fixed today so might go for a walk tomorrow to the dollar shop and have a look for a skipping rope! :)

Hope you all had a great weekend and a better go at resisting temptation than what i did!

Ok, I will weigh first thing in the morning and come on and let you all know. Yeah it is kinda weird being a day ahead.

Had pasta and steak for dinner so missed out on getting in most of my veges which normally only make it in at night. Had yummy steamed asparagus on wholemeal bread for lunch though. That was really yum and look forward to doing that again hopefully tomorrow.

No Cardio today cause my pushchair has got a flat tyre which I can't afford to get fixed till Tuesday. So thinking about finding some rope to skip with...give me something to do while I'm outside supervising the kids. :) 

Will be on in the morning to post my weight.

Man this water is starting to get to me! I spent all last night peeing constantly! :) I can see what Blue means by not wanting to be stuck driving bus and needing to go. I find it worse in the evening while trying to watch tv and have my quiet time and am missing most my programs. :(

vklamorick - Netball is similar to Basketball but you can't bounce the ball you have to just pass it, its generally a womens sport played on a court outside. But at the moment I'm playing indoor netball  which is really full on and great exercise! I love it and play Thursday mornings on a mummy team and Monday nights in a mixed team which is longer games and much harder since we have to play against men as well!

Really worried about weight. Putting off weighing myself!!! What time of day are we supposed to weigh ourselves? I was gonna do it first thing when I got up but forgot. And now its 1.22pm and i just had lunch so maybe I'll put it off till just before dinner so that lunch has had time to move on out! :) I don't think I've lost anything for my first week but I am feeling really good, was deffinatly dehydrated so the water is great! And its good eating fruit and veg for a change! :) And avoiding crap stuff!

Anyway be back on in a few hours to give my daily report!

 I'm so proud of myself!!! I had really bad day yesterday with my birthday and really proud that I did my exercise and ate good today! Well within my calorie count and back on track!!!

I like how KThompson says this isn't for her. I think that was all she was every saying! Everyone works differently! My husband hates me nagging at what he eats or telling him he's fat or telling him to exercise. Yet if it was turned and he told me to exercise and to not eat the chocolate or go for a fun instead of watching tv, I would love it cause I need that kinda motivation! I need a group of poeple who I know will only regonise me doing exceptionally cause it motivates me to do better than just try and loose a little and feel good when I know I would give up.

Its cool that KThompson has found other forums that suit her personality and all the best to you and your weight loss! But as for me I'm gonna stick with Queenie as I love the preasure that this challenge is putting on myself! :)

It's my birthday so I didn't enter my calories in today as I know I would have sadly depressed myself! But I promise this was one day and I'm back in hard again tomorrow!!! I love the water challenge, I new I wasn't drinking enough, but its good being accountable each night. Reminds me to drink!
