Foods Kashi Go Lean Cereals? Do they taste good? Nov 20 2009

I've tried Go Lean crunch by itself with milk, and it's good, but I prefer it mixed in Greek yogurt.

The Go Lean hot cereals, IMO, need a little something.  I like the creamy vanilla and Honey Cinnamon, but I always add a packet of equal, cinnamon, allspice, and some pureed pumpkin or a mashed up bannana.

i have been reading so much up on how celebrities etc lose weight and keep their bodies so slim...

There are very few things for which anyone should look to celebrities for guidance, and diets are definitely not one of them.  Well, unless you come across one of those rare celebrities that actually acknowledge common sense and health instead of fads.

And the best part is that I don't have cable or satellite, so I don't have to even accidentally flip past her new network when she moves over there.

You don't even have to accidentally have to flip past her now - unless she's airing a special, she's on the same channel, at the same time everyday.

I think some need to face the fact that, like Sarah Palin, Oprah will never go away.

And Dnrothx, whenever the person who is forcing you to watch daytime TV leaves the room, you need to make a break for it...

Fitness morning workouts, how do YOU feel? Nov 20 2009
16:41 (UTC)

When I started working out again about 2+ years ago, I started in the evenings, but that was when my kids were going to bed earlier.  Now they're staying up later, hubby and I have less alone time until we have to go to bed, so the only time I have to work out is early morning.

However, it's turning out to be better - it's a good start to the day, and even if I had time in the evening, by then I'm so exhausted I don't even want to bother.

When I first started doing AM workouts I was still logging exercise and meals, so I was motivated by just being able to log the calorie burn number - seriously.  Now I'm not logging anymore, but it's such a habit, I can't concieve of not getting up to work out (unless I'm sick or injured).  My body actually misses it, and feels lethargic, when I don't workout now.

Extremely convenient?

Wow, I don't know whether to be intrigued or disturbed by that.  However, somehow, I don't feel it's crossing the line.  The squeeze stuff over sliced bacon was a nice touch.

I can see the advantage in flavoring soups or sauces, but I'm going to have to insist on real bacon slices for my sandwich.

I thought at first they meant with the drizzles of butter on top.

Even without the "butter" drizzle (it's really just colored, butter flavored oil), movie popcorn has a ridiculous amount of fat and calories.  And don't get me started on the sodium content (it's not a coincidence that the popcorn is so salty that you HAVE to buy a $10 soda, or $7 bottle of water, to go with it).

The difference between the theater and the microwave stuff is due the amount of oil that is used, unless you're talking about the "double extra butter lovers" stuff.  The light microwave popcorn, which is what I get, is not too bad calorie wise.

The last time I was in a movie theater, a Wehrenberg I think, the pre movie ads showed their concession stuff and one of the slides actually said, describing their popcorn, "Air popped with healthy canola oil!"

Yeah, "air popped", "with oil." So I guess I'm supposed to think "OOOOOH...it's AIR popped....and canola is HEALTHY....that's okay then!"

Marketing schmucks...

I understand the cell phone thing, and particularly people trying to talk to you (that's just a privacy thing), but I never thought that so many people would be nervous simply about going just because someone else was in the bathroom.

I mean, it's not like it's a mystery why you're there, and it's not like people assume you never go if they've never recognized your presence in a bathroom.  It's a natural, necessary, bodily function.  Be discreet, but if you gotta go, you gotta go.

How freaked out would you be if you had to use a unisex bathroom? Surprised

I also found a bacon bra (seriously), but I was disturbed too much by it to put in a link.  I think that may be where I draw the line.

Bacon Cupcakes

And I bet that Bacon Vodka would make an awesome martini (bacon bits rimmed glass and/or bacon garnish, of course).

And for people who think salad is just a bit too healthy, use bacon cups for a BLT salad!

Hubby and I went there to see a soccer game once.  We had a decent time.

Another time I had to go, in the middle of winter, to audit an electronics manufacturer.  I left with a respitory infection.

OR, I could cook it overnight Wednesday night and try to find a way to keep it warm enough on the trip that it doesn't go bad, but I'm afraid it might go bad since the trip is 3 hrs.

Or, assuming your crock pot can operate on 12V, get an auto power adapter, cook the ham for the required time minus 3 hours, and have it finish cooking on the way there.

But cooking it fully and putting it in a cooler is a good way to go too.

Weight Loss Yoga? Nov 19 2009

Though as I said, for a beginner who is unused to exercise it can be a very good start- as long as you're in the space where it still has a training effect for you, bodyweight-based exercise is good. And starting with bodyweight-based training and progressing to external resistance is a good progression model; assuming bodyweight isn't too much to handle at first.

This is what happened with my progression.  I had reached a plateau with my cardio-only workouts, and when I started Ashtanga, it really gave me a boost (and made me realize how weak my back and upper body really were).  After I got to the point where it didn't feel like it was kicking my butt anymore, I took up the advice of many on CC and started NROLFW - I truly believe I wouldn't have been able to even do the push ups had it not been for the yoga "prep."

Of course, I still go back to the yoga once a week because I find it extremely relaxing, and the stretching is therapeutic for my hips and feet.
