Hey everyone!  Just wanted to let you know I haven't fallen off the planet.  Just had so much going on the past couple weeks with work, and family issues (and a few mental ones, but that's a different story) that I haven't had time to do anything on here.... and it shows too, the stupid scale hasn't moved!!!! :-(

Dana-  no, we don't have a house at the lake, but we have a couple pop-up campers so we go to a lake about 40 minutes away that has a real nice campground.   We're right on the water in a nice quiet (most of the time) cove so it works out really well.  I'm just sad that we only have maybe one more weekend then it's bye-bye for the winter :-(

I love the ideas about the cheat days.  Maybe I can make a deal with myself. If I go to the gym 4 days a week, then I can have 1 cheat day.   My biggest problem though lately is eating enough.  I actually stopped logging my food because I was being so far away and would make up for the difference with junk.   I REALLY need to get back to logging my food!

Ok, I'm back too.  As far as the new post, I am going to do it TODAY!   It will be in the Motivation Thread. I'm going to make the title  Losin' It!  Check in here.   I'll post what's been going on with my past week and why I'm just now getting back on under that thread.

(Blackie... glad to hear you're back and had such a great time being bad!  I had fun over the weekend and was pretty bad myself. But, as you said, it's time to get my butt back in gear!)

Since I haven't heard anyone object to it, Losin' It in the Motivation section is more than likely where we'll be.  Have a good trip, even though it's for work, and we will see you when you get back!

I think this coming week will be a bad one for me.  I'm going to an end of season party for the baseball team tuesday, a waterpark all day before that, friday i'm heading to the lake for the weekend, and somewhere in there have promised a friend from work that we'll go out for drinks after work one night.   Might have to do more actual swimming at the lake instead of just hanging out on a floatie drinking beer.....   NA!  I'll just make sure to hit the elliptical machine at least 3-4 times this week and at least as many, if not more next week to work it all back off.

If you can't cheat a bit when you're having fun with friends, when CAN you cheat?   As long as I can keep it steady instead of gaining, I should be fine. Right?

Dana... I think you did it!   You came up with the perfect name... Losin' it!   It fits perfectly..  We're losin weight... we sometimes losin our minds (at least I am) with the whole weight loss thing.. we're losing inches...              and I think i the play on words for so many different things is just edgy enough to fit in with my happy bunny philosophy. I LOVE IT!

What does everyone think?  Are we now the Losin' it babes?

I've added several of you to my friends list.  I'll give it a couple days and then start a new post. Maybe put the new title under motivation?

I'm just the opposite.  When I worked outside the house, I took little things for snacks - sugar free pudding/jello, nuts, hard boiled eggs, etc. But for some reason, now that I'm working from home, I'm having a hard time eating enough.  I think that's a huge part of why i keep yo-yo'ing these past 5 lbs. I think I keep not eating enough so I'm sending myself into starvation mode.  I had to make myself eat today because I knew I was going to be doing some time on my elliptical machine tonight.   I just have to make myself eat.  I never in my life thought I'd say that.

I've been doing fairly well about watching what I eat. I'm not making the absolute best choices lately, but they're much better than they could be if you know what I mean.  -although today was more empty calories than I should have had... they were so yummy though! :-)

merrily..  "losers who hope to never find".... that's a good thought.  It's at least a starting point.   I'll have to do some thinking, but it may end up being what we end up as.

11 days until school starts and hopefully can get into some sort of routine!
Weight Loss should I let myself CHEAT on my birthday? How to prevent bingeing? Aug 01 2007
03:41 (UTC)
I say enjoy yourself on your birthday!!!    I have a friend whose daughter has lost like 130lbs.  She watches what she eats and exercises,  but she lets herself cheat on her birthday and the main national holidays.  on those days, it's all bets off!  She can eat herself silly if she wants and has no guilt.  Because she gives herself these cheat days, she is fine and doesnt' keep going the next day feeling like she's ruined her good work the rest of the year.   Hey, she's lost 130lbs, so she's gotta be doing something right.

Just my thoughts on it!   Happy Early Birthday by the way!

Mark me down for the money please!   Many of the reasons have already been listed, but I'll touch on them again.

I've been on the end of the spectrum where I was borrowing from Peter to pay Paul and things were always stressful.  It's better now, but we're still at the point where we have to pay attention to where we're spending our money.

With money, I would know my 3 kids would be able to go to any school they wanted, I'd know my family would never have to worry about anything, I could give them many of the things they want (though I would still teach them the value of a dollar and that they need to work for what is right) as well as being able to do things for others.  (loved the idea about welcoming soldiers home)

Not to mention, the ability to hire a chef, and a trainer, have my own gym at home so I didn't have to worry about what to do with the kids. Not to mention that eating healthy isn't cheap!!!

And add all that to the fact that most of my beauty issues could be solved with the right amount of money!!! ;-)

Besides, I know many people that are smart but don't have the brains that God gave a box of rocks.  I wouldn't want to risk it!

  • Ok, so maybe I'm just meant to only lose 5lbs in a month.  I guess it beats the crap out of gaining 5 each month.  Hopefully once the kids are back in school again I can get back into exercising more and tracking what I eat better.  I actually think that because I haven't been eating like I should, I'm eating less to try and compensate, but then I end up eating fewer calories than I need.  Does that make any sense?

Wow!  Have a few days where you can't get online because of life and people come out of the woodwork!  This is fabulous!!!

I'm glad to see there are so many of us.   Since I can already see some connections forming, what do you think of coming up with a name for our "group"?   That way we can start a new post with the group name, so as we get lower in weight, it's still fitting?  That way, as we get closer to 160 for example, we're not still posting under 180.   What do you think?   Any suggestions?  I am not a creative person, so I would love some imput!

Now that baseball is over for my son/husband's team, I'll have more time in the evenings and can get back in the groove.  I swear I've lost and gained the same 5lbs 3 or 4 times over the last few weeks!  GRRRRRR  But I'm going to start hitting it hard and heavy now.  Maybe I'll even start figuring out exactly what I need to be eating and exercising right. I think I keep having a tendency to not eat as much as I should and keep putting myself in starvation mode.

Anyway, I look forward to you all's suggestions!

I found the perfect way to exercise and not realize it!  I went out Friday night/ Saturday morning to a Harry Potter party waiting for the book release.  Had alot of running around that I had to do Saturday night, but then I hopped on my eliptical and did 45 minutes while reading.  It wasn't the best environment in the world, because I don't have anyplace to prop it up and I kept having to refind my place, but I did 6 miles without even reallizing it.   Maybe I should read while I work out more often, it kills 2 birds with one stone! :)

lilborykuamami,  sure it's close enough.  I don't think any of us are truely "twins", we're more like just a whole bunch of close sisters!  :-)

welcome also to all the other's that have found us!

Merrily,   I figure that everyone needs something.  I don't have the looks, or the body ( at least not yet anyway), so I stick with my sense of humor... and in my opinion, the warped the better! ;-)    I wish I had someone around me to walk with, but unfortunately, it's just me, and people look at me funny when I'm carrying on a conversation with myself as I walk along the street.  I don't know why?   LOL

Woo hoo!  There are 3 of us so far, but I'm sure we'll get more. Merrily, and Marnee, nice to 'meet' you both!

I will warn you, I am not good at motivating myself to workout, so maybe since you both mention exercising several times a week, that will give me some motivation!  Belly dancing huh?  sounds like fun, I might have to try it!!!  :)

Marnee, you mentioned that you liked what I had to say in my profile... what'd i say?  lol

Sorry for the late posting. Was at the lake and just got back home to my computer.

I'm still sitting at 181, so no change.

On the plus side I guess I'm glad I didn't go UP from last week... although on thursday night I was down to between 177 and 178, so I DID gain.  Oh well, just have to wait till my body adjusts from out there and the not eating much or drinking enough water.  Hope this week is better!

Motivation what does 'curvy' really mean? Jul 13 2007
    14:15 (UTC)
    40
I have to agree with those that are saying 'curvy' is not someone on the heavy side, but someone who has a butt and boobs, but a nicely defined waist.

To quote one of my favorite songs (It's a pirate song from the renassaince festival :-P )

Nothing can compare with the natural curves I love.
Even when I?m sleeping it?s curvy girls I dream of
Curvy girls are lovely curvy girls are great
Curvy girls make me want to master?my own fate

So if you are out there looking listen to these tips
Find an ample bosom and some child bearing hips
An hour glass figurewith  all the curves just right
That?s the best thing in the world to keep you warm at night

And that is what I personally see as curvy.  Not someone that's fat, fluffy, plump, heavy or anything else that I have seen myself as (or have heard someone else define me as) over the last several years.  However it IS something that I'm getting closer to! ;-)
