Hi everyone, I feel for all of us.

I'm 30,  5' 2.5" and 127 lbs.. I have been stuck on this weight forever it feels like. Going up and down a couple pounds every other month. My arms feel big and I recently have gotten a "congratulations! When's the baby? " Aargh!! That's what came of wearing a loose top so I could camoflage my middle!! I am back to fitting tops after that and try to stand better and have better posture :D but am sure that doesnt really help either.

Would love to lose at least 10 lbs - because I know my tummy will disappear/ at least decrease with that. Tight size 6 - so I think I have weight over my hips, tummy and arms. Would love to get serious about this- about time!

Have started running again..currently 2-3 times a week and am eating salads at least once a day. Have not been counting calories for a while- and may re-start if just exercising and eating better does not work.

Hi pook and everyone,

I have been reading your posts and think this is an involved group :) and I could use some help to stay on track. I am back at 140 (again) am a 5'2" lady and would really like to hit 130 by my 30th birthday. My clothes are all tight and I would really like to fit into them again. I hope 2 months is enough time for 10 lbs. My ideal body weight is closer to 120 but I wouldn't mind taking a bit longer to get there.

Is there room for me in this group ? I know you guys were talking of closing the group - but I would appreciate it if you could give me a chance! If you are done with newbies for now I will understand. Let me know!

Thanks :)

Edit: My birthday is at the end of June :) so that gives me 4 months (I suck at Math). I will shoot for 120 if you guys are ok to have me around.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the reminder Sara..

This work-month will finally end in the next week and I will be on vacation! I am glad in many ways - I have been under a lot of stress and that has not been a nice way to live. I think I will be much more active here in another week..

I hope to come back and read this introduction thread then if its alright with all of you!!

Sara, I've gotten so used to your reminder mail on my saturday/sunday that I logged in anyway to see if I have missed this week :D

I'm glad I did- you all have such an interesting discussion going! I am a big fan of HIIT too.. It is a great weight loss tool - esp. when you are in one of those plateaus-  weight not moving down despite a healthy diet and exercise program for a while IMO. I probably should start it again in some small way at least.

Spent my whole day off shopping and getting cute clothes for the winter..(that was also a good exercise I hope!!)..

I hope you all have a great week - inspite of the weather!!

Thanks for the input Sara! I am actually feeling quite motivated today though it was a crappy day otherwise- the motivation comes and goes..

I'm planning to keep count of how many flights I climb up (over the course of the day)- and plan to reach a goal of 15/ day soon :D. Today I ran up 8 -10 (did not count exactly).. But will think up little goals like that for example.

Also, the upcoming vacation is a big motivator.. I hate looking flabby when on vacation..

Btw, thanks for the 1 month congratulatory message! I never got around to replying though it was on my mind..Thanks!!!

Thanks for the motivating post Susan! I miss my running after having read your post..You made it in wonderful time!!

Hi Sara and everyone else,

Sorry I missed out last week! It has been a crazy week again- all I wanted when I came home was to eat and sleep.. It has been impossible to feel motivated enough to do anything else.. I cannot wait for my vacation coming up in a month!! :D No holiday for me this long weekend.. :( and hence no celebrations either...I hope I dont feel too bad on the day! I wish all of you who will be celebrating a happy and healthy holiday! Do make the most of it and have fun!

The upcoming month is going to be super-duper busy for me. The good thing is that there will be a lot of stair climbing and running around :D..If I manage to eat healthy then I may actually get fitter. I will try to do my share of homework - buying healthy stuff in advance and stocking the fridge and things like that so I dont junk out when I come home at night. I have also told myself that I should be able to do a workout/ floor exercises every night so I will be a bit firmer-looking for my vacation starting in a month!!

Thank you for keeping me motivated!!

Thanks again Super..maybe I should start calling you Sara (noticed you sign out) - but Super suits you :D! That is probably the best advice I have gotten in a long time - if not ever :D.. It makes so much sense and is very doable. I have made an excel spreadsheet and am going to keep count.. Got 2 points so far for today i.e. did 2 sets of floor exercises and am planning to sleep early. :D I feel hope already!

Amber, I know what you mean @ not feel like eating the bad stuff. I do feel like that when I have been eating healthy for a while. Thank you! I am going to try extra hard to get in veggies in all meals now..

What am I doing to beat all or nothing ? Great question!! I am an all or nothing person- which is pretty much why I drop out of every weight-loss program/group if I cannot give it my best.. I think it is mainly thanks to Supersized that I make it here every week - shameful, I know! I'm going to try and make it before the next PM next week :)..

To answer the question - what do I do to escape the all or nothing mentality- I have recently started searching for future me- what do I want to be 10 years from now. And surprisingly my answer is not "super skinny" or "super-successful".. I would ideally love to be a super- well- adjusted and balanced woman who is happy and spreads good cheer. May sound like a vague future- but it helps me realize that I dont have to beat myself up or give up every time I feel myself slipping from dietary goals. They are important but will only really succeed with good mental health and an overall good  balance in life.. A regular exercise schedule PLUS some daily relaxation techniques along with healthy eating and sleep habits. I am going to work on a "10 week goal" toward these objectives.. seeing how I have missed around 2 weeks already!

For the coming week :

  1. Eat at least 1 serving of fresh veggies every day
  2. Spend at least 10 minutes a day - taking deep breaths and reflecting/ meditating (Funny I know :)- I hope it will work... I do need to breathe/relax.)
  3. Sleep at least 6 hours every night.
  4. Do one set of floor exercises and stretches every day.

Thanks for keeping me on track Super!

Congratulations on your new kidney Wenchie!! Wow!!

Sorry I was missing in action.. I am in a >15 hour work day/6 days a week currently and am not at all used to it. Im trying to eat healthy whenever the option is available and have absolutely no time to exercise..

My weight has stayed constant at 133.5 (though it drops down to 130 after unintentioned short periods of starvation/ dehydration). I am still trying to work floor exercises into the schedule - need to get better at it. Today is my day off and am thinking of cooking ahead for the week to make life easier and healthier.

I will try to be more prompt and save Supersized the work of tracking me down next time.. Thanks for the PMs, supersized !! I so wanted to make the 12 week goals but just didnt manage to make the time to think about them!

Best wishes to your mom Susan and welcome Lalie..!

Finally weighed in!! I too kept putting it off in the hope there will be better numbers to report..

I am always amazed at how easy it is to gain weight and how tough it is for each lb to come off!! Still at 133.5..i.e. no loss since last week for me (though technically I didnt weigh in last week so its more like 1.5 lbs over 2 weeks.. but still!) Horrible..

Am trying a new dressing for salads today : raspberry viniagrette.. maybe that will boost my interest in salads!

I think my not exercising has something to do with my state of mind - when I'm depressed or have body/image issues is when I dont want to exercise. The idea of jiggling parts of me feels less and less appealing. Paradoxically, exercise is exactly what will make me feel better. So I probably just have to accept my body and get back into my routine.

I do get into these phases around once a month..where I can never look nice enough and nothing I do seems good enough. Anyone know what I am talking about ? Anyway, its good you asked the question because I realized there is no good reason for me not exercising except that I dont feel good enough to exercise.

By the way, its good to know that there are so many cool exercise videos on U-tube! Maybe I could learn a couple of new exercises to get me back on track!

    Hello, red team - congratulations!!!

I'm so sorry I was missing in action.. I did lose a bit more than a lb but forgot to weigh in- should set up a reminder for this week.

So what do I do next? Do I weigh in as usual in the coming weigh in or do I weigh in late for the one that I missed ? Sorry, I'm new at this..

Uh-oh.. looks like I missed a week already. Sorry and thanks for the reminder Supersized.. Congratulations on your success Kyashiis!!

Last week : has not been extremely productive healthwise. One achievement (if you can call it that) is eating one meal of the day as a salad and I did do that. I am 1.5 lbs down in 2 weeks - though I probbly could have done more with some diligence. I wish I could be a numbers Nazi like you supersized! I keep letting small indiscrepancies slide telling myself I am alright and that is probably what is affecting my eating.

As far as exercise- it has been non-existent. Other than the walking around at work - which is a bit- I dont exercise at all. Got to build that into my schedule this week.

Fitness: I love squats but that is only because they are easy for me to do..What I really could use more of like the plank or crunches are what I shy away from. Love floor exercises in general though -such an inexpensive and anytime way of getting in shape.

12 week goals : will think abt them.

    Hi everyone,

I'm new here but I hope to become a useful member of this group. I love the fact that all of you are talking so much about things- I think its very important to talk in order to successfully and healthily get to your goal body.

Which leads to the topic for the week- I cannot agree more @ the word DIET. Also I dont like to say "I'd like to lose x lbs" to people anymore.. that too seems to give off the wrong signals. People seem to either think I need reassurance "Oh- you look fine/healthy/wellproportioned" or worse indulge in self-pity "Look at me!!" (I hate the "look at me!". Each person is different and likes their body differently- but thats a different topic altogether. In an ideal world- we should not compare the sizes of our thighs etc.) Even for my personal motivation - fixing a number, while it is helpful to assess my goals, makes me fixate on the goal rather than enjoying the journey. Its definitely more positive to just say you are trying to live a healthier lifestyle - that you will hopefully continue even after reaching your goal weight/body.

Anyway, I have been working on the last '10 lbs' for about 1 year now - I go down and then back up. At 135, I am currently at 15 to 20 lbs more than I need on my small 5'2" frame. I'd love to go from chubby to lean (skinny is also on my list of words that need rethinking) and stay that way!! And I hope the way there will be a lot of fun!!

Alright, thanks for forming this group.. Ill be around..

My story : I've been on and off this website for the past couple of years. It helped with my first big weight loss (almost 30 lbs) in 2007 AND the weight stayed off for most part (put on 5 lbs this past month.) Am currently in a pretty stressful stage of life (which stage isnt, huh ?) My biggest problem - coming home from work and regularly working out only my tongue and jaw muscles i.e. eating like there is no tomorrow :D . I plan to stick around this time and re-learn healthy eating and healthy losing to get my dream figure before I am thirty! I look forward to hearing from all of you every week or whenever you have anything to say! Also feel free to add me as a friend/ msg me whenever. I am not online that often nowadays - but having news to look forward to might give me an incentive to log on more regularly! Ok- will shut up for now.
