| Poor David (Ferrer). I'm sorry he's going home so soon.
The television did a great job of switching between Safin/Seppi and Ferrer/Ancic, plus with the anxiety of the sun going down and the possibility that both matches would be suspended, it made for a very exciting evening at Wimbledon. I loved it! |

| I have been a political junkie for decades. As with sports athletes, these are people who enter your home on a daily or weekly basis via the television or radio, and over the years they become part of my "political family" or my "sports family". So I shed a tear yesterday for his sudden loss. We'll miss ya, Tim... | |||

| For the Dems, I'll be thrilled for Obama if he wins. I'm reading his memoir Dreams From My Father now, and it's quite good.
For the GOP, I heart Huckabee -- I have a personal connection with Mike Huckabee in that after watching a TV interview of him talking about his weight loss, he literally inspired me to lose 30 pounds. And as a political junkie, I find it all very exciting -- the nominees for both parties being so up in the air. I can hardly wait for January 3rd. |

| I joined some challenges in the Games forum and lost 13 pounds this summer. I was so proud because I lost the weight steadily through healthy eating and daily exercise. I looked and felt great. But now I've gained it all back through binging. I feel very embarrassed about this so I wanted to make a public confession. I had a binge-free day today -- mostly because the pouring rain thwarted my plan to go to Walgreen's and buy a box of chocolates on sale. However, I did manage to work out tonight to an exercise video and I think I'm poised to have a good, binge-free week. Good luck and best wishes to everyone. |

| Watched from about 8th inning on, mildly rooting for Rockies, but by 12th was just hoping the game would end. Bottom of 13th was good though. Matt Holliday's slide looked like a plane landing that had lost its front wheels. | |||

| ker3409, how about green pepper for salads and sandwiches? Not to mention red, yellow, and orange pepper. I also regularly add radishes and celery to my salad. As for how many servings of veggies I eat per day, I'd be afraid to count -- I once totaled up the grams of protein I eat and it was just barely over the minimum recommended. I eat one good-sized salad per day and also add a few veggies to my lunch sandwiches. |

| I'm glad I'm not a Mets fan today. If it's the greatest regular season collapse in baseball history, then it's funny how their crosstown rivals--the Yankees--are the ignominious owners of the greatest post-season collapse (2004). I'm not a fan of any team but I'm a New Yorker and I'll be rooting for the Yanks since the House that Ruth Built is being put out to pasture after next year, and I'm feeling kinda nostalgic about the whole thing. |

| 9/28: 141.5 lbs Total Loss: 1 lb I lost 13 lbs in the Jul and Aug challenges so maybe my body took a little break this month. But I'm happy I've maintained the low 140s for a month: In the past I've reached a new low in weight and then immediately gained back 5 to 8 lbs because I felt free to go back to the junk food. Weighing-in every week helped me fight that temptation. Congratulations to everyone who moved closer to their goals, and thanks to pixyz for another great challenge! |

| Just a theory, but I think fat cells don't like to be empty and they start sending little signals to our mind to start eating bad stuff again. That's why so many of us "relax" after a period of weight loss. Our mind is very powerful, however, and can also FIGHT the evil signals coming from our empty fat cells. I would recommend getting on the scale right now and once you see the ugly number, the disgust may inspire you to get back on track. Do not get depressed about it -- remember, you are in a ruthless fight with the empty fat cells trying to get full again. |

| For weight loss, I was eating Arnold Natural Flax & Fiber bread (80 cal/slice) and I liked the taste of it, though the slice is small. Then I hit a plateau and switched to 40-45 cal/slice bread (Arnold Bakery Light and Weight Watchers -- not sure which one tastes worse!). Sure enough, that broke the plateau. If I wasn't trying to lose weight, I'd go for Arnold Whole Grains 12 Grain bread (110 cal/slice) -- big, delicious slices. I can't wait 'til I start maintaining!!! |

| I sometimes snack on "Mexican Toast": Put a few slices of cheddar cheese on a piece of toast and sprinkle some chili powder on it. Stick it back in the toaster oven so the cheese melts, and then eat! I got this recipe from some long lost Girl Scout cookbook. |

| It had 5g of fiber and "whole grain" so I tried it. I got "Curves Honey Crunch" and I didn't think it was sweet. I have a sweet tooth and cereals with 9g of sugar don't taste sweet to me. Anyway, it's crunchy enough and substantial enough in calories that it left me satisfied (I mix it with 1/2 cup of Fiber One and usually throw in some fruit). Tastewise it's nothing special but I could buy it again in the future. |

| I'm so sorry, jbart. It makes me think of my little white dog slipping out the front door of my apartment as I was bringing in the grocery bags. If it wasn't for my neighbor knocking to tell me my dog was outside, who knows what could have happened. And I know you were concerned about cancer in another one of your dogs--I hope that turns out okay. |

| I saw it again last night, with my sister who hadn't seen it, and, yes, my opinion of this movie did improve greatly. She gave it *4 stars*. I gave it *3.5 stars*. I might still upgrade to 4 ;) My sister was actually very moved, tearful, at the end of the movie. She couldn't believe the film ended without the Americans rolling in and kicking some Taliban fannies. I'm not a fan of Mel Gibson style movie violence (I almost barfed during Braveheart), and I know I'm gonna sound crass, but the first time I saw Osama I was disappointed there wasn't more Taliban violence--we didn't see any marching women getting shot, the actual stoning of the woman wasn't shown, no heads rolled. Plus, the repeated flashbacks to the girl jumping rope annoyed me, don't ask me why. Anyway, seeing it a second time I do now appreciate the movie's subtle, artistic qualities: the director (who also wrote it) did an excellent job. And jbart, now that I see that the old guy was one and the same--that was a pretty clever plot device, I must say. She really caught his eye during the hygiene scene--he calls him/her a 'nymph', and then he "rescues" her. It is better than getting stoned to death, I guess. |
