| Are resistance bands you get with taebo workouts and some pilate workouts considered weight training? When I use those, they burn my body like crazy, I can't finish all the reps with Billy :( weights scare me. |

| yum I love dahl!!!!!!!! Thanks for that!!! And spinach, or any plant based iron needs vit. C in order to be absorbed by the body. pgeorgian, it's no debate, that's how it goes for plant based foods. Same as calcium must be taken with vit. D - that's why it's usually enriched with vit. D. I found that hemp protein has 34% iron in ONE scoop.... I normally put two scoops in my smoothie. Hempseeds have 39% in one tablespoon. GOOD!!! I'll make sure to eat these things everyday, and make a big pot of dahl for dinners, with steamed spinach and lemon on the side. Thanks so much!!! |

| Hey guys, I lurk in this thread quite a bit, posted some way back when, and now feel that I gotta reach out again.... especially since today was my last session with my T. She's away for 5-6 months, on mat leave. So of course, I think....hmmmm, how much weight can I lose in 6 months? No no no!!! But what if I do it the healthy way. I'm not capable of that as of now. I'm right back in my obsessive exercise patterns, 3-4hrs each time, and it's becoming more and more frequent. I just don't know how else to really, really feel ok. At least I feel that I deserve to eat properly, as long as I exercise. If I don't exercise, I restrict. I really don't want to be like this, but, I know there's nothing that will convince me otherwise. What does that mean? Where does that leave me??? I've been working on recovery for almost 3yrs now... with little bits of relapses here and there... but, this is pretty much it. Full blown... my mind seems soooooooooo set on losing weight and being in control. When I know I'm so far from it while engaging in ED'd behaviours. eeek. The problem with the past 3 years is I still felt so fat, never accepted my body, hated myself, and still wanted to lose weight. I just wasn't engaged in ED'd behaviours as much as I am now. Anyway.... that's where I'm at now, I'll be reading you guys. Thanks for reading. |

| Weight Loss | will I ever be normal? | May 07 2008 05:52 (UTC) |
|
| Hi spiro, thanks for asking. I'm.... ok'ish. Had an overwhelming day yesterday... recovering from ED hell isn't easy, you're right. I just feel like I'll never be normal with food/exercise, and that frustrates me because I want more than anything for that to be my existance at this point. It's gone on long enough. It's especially frustrating when I can rationally see my thoughts and how they relate to my actions, yet I still feel as though I have no control over the obsessiveness (?) and the false sense of control I feel by losing weight. blah blah blah. Venting is a wonderful past time. What sucks even more is the fact I feel very little pain from all of the exercise, which leads me to believe I can actually do this on a regular basis. (Rationally I know this is not true) Thanks again for your reply, it's greatly appreciated. |

| Fitness | Women interested in clean eating for fat loss-- | May 04 2008 03:18 (UTC) |

| I'm extremely interested in this thread you are writing... when will you finish it? I'm so afraid of lifting weights, even light 10lb, 5lb... they all freak me out. I know it's irrational, but I can't help but feel that I'm getting bigger using them. Immediately, right after working out. I can see myself larger.... it's true. How can I get rid of this irrational fear? I know weights are the best for burning fat.... what about a high resistance on a spinner bike? Is that like weight training? My problem area are my blasted thighs/saddlebags. I've been told using weights will melt the fat off my bum... I don't understand how that is possible. Wouldn't spinning for an hour be better? That, along with clean eating? Do you have to eat so much and so frequently? How do you find the time for all of that eating? |

| Honestly.... I don't think they charge customs/taxes on books. I've ordered from amazon.com a lot.......... and I've never, ever had to pay anything other than book price + shipping. Have you tried? I am almost lead to believe that they will actually ship from the Canadian warehouse - even if it's a amazom.com order.... I'm basing this on the shipping times - I've gotten books from .com quicker than .ca many many times....... Try it out! And on a $20 dvd, customs wouldn't get too much would they? (if they do charge it) Are your taxes different in Alberta? I'm in Ontario... Try ebay! |

| Health & Support | and exception to losing weight? | Feb 11 2008 15:33 (UTC) |

| you can be healthy and thin!! Listen to the good advice you've been given, and try to eat more!!! I've been through where you are... trust me, if you gain an ounce, the world will not fall apart. Yes, in that moment, you might feel as if it has.... but, you will pick yourself back up, and it will be fine. What is your definition of healthy? What is your definition of thin? I started to eat more, and I even started to eat at night *gasp* like I would never ever do that before - and I lost weight. You can continue to struggle and fight, both mentally and physically against your body all you want... but, your body knows at which weight it is happiest. Find that point, and you won't gain anymore weight. If you are underweight now, and need to gain weight - trust your body. Eat enough of the right foods, and exercise in moderation, and your body will take care of you. Pass your problems over to your body... it will fix you if you trust it to. Stop listening to your mind. Your mind is telling you all of these horrible, un true things... and your body is screaming against your mind (ie loss of period) You need your period. Without it, you will get osterporsis. How would you like to be free and recovered from all of the ED'd thoughts.... but with the bones of a 70yr old?? If you don't start getting help/support in real life for this now........ that is where you are headed. Where are you from?? Are there any ED support groups/therapies you can go to?? PM if you'd like some help... I'm lucky enough to live in a city where there are free support groups for this, and for that I am extremely grateful. I also have an excellent therapist, with a sliding scale so it's within my budget - I'd in in a hole in the ground if it wasn't for the support I have. The whole first paragraph of your post above me..... makes me think that that person you are looking for - to pass your problems off to, to promise to fix you, devoted to turning things around.... that is YOU. Sounds crazy.... but it will start from you. |

I haven't read/heard much about the jumping on the trampoline, but I know that callanetics works super fast, after the first workout you will FEEL a difference, and after a week (3x a week) you will notice a tightness which you didn't know existed... Oh yeah, I was doing 30min of taebo and 1hr callanetics 5 times a week, and started to get those ab lines in about 5 weeks... Diet will play a role in your results as well, of course Within 5 weeks... of 3x a week - that'd be 15hrs of callanetics you will see pretty dramatic changes. You need to make sure that you maintain the proper form, a slight 'tip up' of the pelvis makes all the difference. (You'll know what I mean when you watch the dvd) But def. try and find that book!! I'd send you mine, but I've lent it out (again) I'm totally an advocate for this workout, lol!!! I can't wait to read your journey through Callanetics!! |

hi amy! I don't know why the link didn't work, I hope this one works! http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/exercise-bo ard/446399-callanetics-before-after-photos.ht ml I was reading some of your other posts... about eating 1300 cals a day, ect, and lol about the vanity pounds as somebody put it... yeah, I'm in that boat as well. Callanetics will make you look like you've lost 10lbs, even if you gain 2-3lbs (muscle) Try to find that book as well, all the second hand bookshops I've been to have it... hardcover and softcover... usually they will remember the cover - so if you can print out a colour copy of 10 years younger in 10 hrs (blue coloured) you should find that book. If you have any jiggle under your upper arms, callanetics will get rid of it. Love handles, kiss them goodbye!!! And I swear, it tightens your butt like you wouldn't imagine! lol!!! You should take before/after photos because the numbers on the scale might discourage you, but seeing is believing!!! Measurements for sure too! |

| oh man, you got super callanetics??? Is there anyway you can change your order to the beginner callanetics, or 10 years younger in 10hrs??? All of her workouts are big time killers - but they really do work. When I started out, my legs would shake... and that'd only be from 10 reps lol!!!! Body weight resistance is a great workout!! If not.......... take that workout very slow!!! I'd skip out on parts of it as well, until you build up strength. Trust me... if you can stick with it, you will definately see results. Make sure you really get the movements down properly - check out some second hand book stores and you'll probably find one of her books (10 years younger in 10 hrs is the best one) and that will help explain further. Check out these photos: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/exercise-bo ard/446399-callanetics-before-after-photos.ht ml |

Get this (or the beginner version) and stick to it!! You might not lose much weight, but trust me, if you can do at least 10-15 sessions of this workout, you won't have any problems, the inches will have melted off. They reccommend 2-3 times per week, so 5 weeks, 3 times a week = you'll look great! (incase that link doesn't work, search "Callanetics" in amazon) http://www.amazon.com/Callanetics-Years-Young er-Hours-Amazon-com/dp/B00064K0RI/ref=pd_bbs_ sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1202607539& ;sr=8-1 |

| liseey - sorry I didn't see your reply!!
E3Live is sold at health food stores (wholefoods should carry it) and its in the freezer section. So, you keep it in your freezer until you're ready to take some (first thing in the morning, empty stomach is best) and you put the container in a big bowl filled with hot/warm water. This will 'defrost' just enough for you to take a teaspoon of .... wait about 5 min or so, then open the container and pour off the liquid onto a spoon, or right into your mouth! Its like drinking from the milk bag.... ew. Only wayyyyyyyyyy better. google it for the website and you can read all about it! |

| jilltastic - we have similar goals - Im also vegan, and have been eating loads of crap!!!! It's difficult, I work in a bakery and when I first started, was not even tempted at all - but, it's becoming difficult resisting freshly baked cake - everyday! lol. We bake some vegan cake, but there is white flour/sugar inside, soooooooo crappy. I'll join you on your detox. What sorta foods are you going to eat? Lately I've been eating home made roasted garlic hummus with lavash crackers, carrots, and an apple for lunch. Breakfast is a fruit smoothie and dinner......I have trouble with... You're restricting chocolate/sugar for the detox - is it because of the caffeine and refined sugars? What about natural sugars - fruits, and/or maple syrup? Dates? I'm totally addicted to sugar, so I do need something - dried apricots or dates/almonds will do. Aw man, I just remembered, I made chocolate vegan fudge and I still have the whole slab in my fridge. Um... well, I'll do the best I can... urgh, temptation everywhere!! Just wondering how tall you are? And how old? Im 28 and 5'7.75" lol... every half inch counts!!! |

| yeah, that's totally not cool silvraynebow........... what on earth are you thinking? All it would take is ONE person to make a stupid joke like that to somebody with an ED, and it'd completely set them off .....if they are at a weaker point of their ED!!! It does seem juicebox, that you are at a strong point, and know enough (at a young age) not to take this crap to heart.

| E3Live - fresh frozen blue green algae kale - I've been lightly steaming it lately, sprinkled with himalayan crystal sea salts, and a DHA flax oil blend. YUM!!! quinoa and lentils - like others said, great cheap source of complete protein hempseeds/powder - YES!!! Seeds are wonderful in smoothies, on salads, cereal, whatever!!! And powder - just a quick way to get good protein. Perfect ratio of omega 3's and 6's coconut butter! Great source of lasting energy, and helps metabolize fats = fat loss almonds/raw almond butter - mixed with lavash crackers, or dried apricots.... oh and MACA powder sprinkled on top. Lasting fullness, and so healthy! beets, sweet potato - good for grounding, after a hard workout (if you tend to feel like a space cadet in need of landing) cucmber - great for juicing/blending into raw soups. Lately its been cucumber, dill and avocado soup for me!!! YUM! Cacao - raw chocolate beans, un-roasted. Good for a quick fix/boost of energy. Especially when blended into a smoothie, or taken with E3Live oh boy....... I could go on forever.... |

| ^^ it's not far too late... there is something else in your life that you are blocking out with the ED. Its a coping mechanism. When you figure out what it is in your life that you are struggling with, and turning to ED'd behaivours, you can work on being happy with yourself.
For instance..... me at my worst... anything that went 'wrong' was because I was fat. Missed the bus.... cause Im fat. Friend mad at me for being late - I was late cause Im fat and missed the bus. lol.. Got yelled at by my boss, its because Im fat and she hates me. Got a bad grade....... fat. um, do you get my point (oddly enough) You're directing some outside feelings inward, hating yourself and thinking you don't look good, when infact you look great! And, after all you've been through.... you will never look good enough for yourself. Don't keep this secret, try to get some help so you can enjoy all you have in life. |
