| I have eaten plantains before, and I do so very often. As kittybig stated plantains may be a fruit but it is eating more like a veggie, for example, you could replace a baked potato with boiled plantains and put sauteed onions on top, or whatever you like. The ripe yellow/blackish plantains are usually deep fried and make yummy but very fattening fritters. | |||

Thnx so much for the reply! You have totally changed my mind about the OB/GYN. I was actually thinking of not going to the appointment, I did not want to be disappointed once again. Now that you told me this all I can say is that I have nothing to loose if I go to the appointment. Thnx again =) |

Hey there journey! I know this does not answer your question but I am just wondering how long it took you to get your period back after recovery? I recovered from an ED to and had to deal with amenorrhea, the problem is I still havent gotten my period, and it has been a year since I last got it. I stopped going to my nutrisionist and the doctor that helped my with the recovery (they were of no help) and so my pediatrician apperantly does not know what to do, after many phone calls she wasvable to set up an appointment with an OB/GYN (after having called a million of them which turned my case down for an appt). Honestly, my mom and I think an OB/GYN will be of no help considering that I am only 15... So anyway, how long after recovery did you get your period again? |

Anyways lately I have been doing lunges and squats and my bottom has really toned up and gotten smallers. | |||

Original Post by amandamay18: Sorry about that. I should have explained. Calorie deficit is the difference between the calories you eat and the calories you burn/ our bodies use up. So for example lets says your body burns 2000 calories and you go to the gym and burn 300 thats is 2300 calories burned therefore to have a 500 calorie deficit you should eat 1800 calories. Do you understand? |

btw calorie-count doesn't provide correct calorie consumptions for teens. It is for adults and our bodies use up a lot more calories than adults so here is a website designated to calculate the BMR just for kids and teens: http://www.kidsnutrition.org/bodycomp/bmiz2.h tml If you have a 500 calorie deficit each day then you will loose about 1 lb a week. Try never to have a calories deficit bigger than 800. Its not healthy! and definitely not worth it, trust me. |

I really think maybe I shouldn't have posted this because I now feel people cannot relate/understand my situation and are receiving the wrong message. I do not want to get breast surgery because I want men looking at my breast nor do I want to go from a size B to a D or DD. I have been contemplating breast surgery but hoping not having to necessarily insert implants but instead having the breast lifted for they are sagging due to the large amount of weight I lost in such a short time.... Anyway thank you for your comments and advice |

| It's great to hear that you were able to bring up your weight without medical intervention. Keep at it! .... I guess I will have to play around with the # of calories until I reach an amount that I can loose weight in but still be eating enough. I think mines should also be around 1300-1400, i'll start at that and move up or down from there. | |||

| Wow! I can relate relate to each and every one of these posts. I am a recovering anorexic and not until now have I realized how bad and to what extremes my ED actually reached.... peacelovehominy- I never knew that anorexics were actually obsessed with food...I guess that's why it took me so long to admit to myself that my doc. and mom had been right all along. I use to tell myself "how could I be anorexic if I love food and I want to eat every little piece in sight?"... malpal you are not in this alone, there are plenty of us recovering and as you can see we all apparently love food & obsessively watched the food network. Good Luck to everyone! =) | |||

| It's so great that you posted this, I have been meaning to post on the same topic. Im a sophmore in highschool so I can totally relate. Most of everything in lunch is junk food and the healthier foods like salads are so expensive. A slice of pizza is only 2.50 but the salad are like $4 which is crazy to pay for everyday. I like some of the ideas posted such as mini pretzels and bars but those dont fill me up that much. I would bring veggies, fruits, yogurt, or other things but they seem to me sorta geeky. lol. some times I just rather not eat anything although I know its bad. | |||

| Sreeves8, sugar free syrup tastes good to me, I can actually say I like it better than regular syrup. Also it is 220 cals vs. 20 cals.
Dm84, I also try to avoid heavily processed foods but every once in a while I like to satisfy myself by eating something I would have normally but in a less fat/caloric version. I don't have this breakfast everyday but definitely 2 times a week. |
