| Weight Loss | HI, I am new | Feb 05 2007 13:37 (UTC) |

| :) I logged my throat lozenge this morning. I have never keep a food journal before, many have suggested it, but I didn't want them to see what I was doing. That was when I was making poor decisions about eating. I would feast and famine. Trying to focus on the famine part the most. About me, I am 29 years old, and in June I will have been married for 10 years. I have 4 children ages 8,8,6, and 5. The twins are boy/girl twins and then my 6 yr old is a girl and the youngest a boy. I am currently attending online classes to get my ASIS degree with an emphasis in paraprofessional education. I sing and released my first CD last year. I spend too much time answering emails from my fan club on myspace and giving advice. I need to get out and exercise more. I live in Missouri, and have for the last 3 1/2 years. I like it here despite the awful ice storm that we just had. I have 3 cats, 2 dogs, and a pair of African ring-neck laughing doves. I currently am watching 2 children in addition to my own after school until 7:30 p I love art, studying about people and places and cultures. I am pretty religious, and pray and read the scriptures daily. I am Christian. As far as weight loss goes, I think that my greatest weakness still is not eating small meals through out the day, but only eating a little here and there with no consistency. I do not eat breakfast unless my husband hands it to me, because it usually is not something that I think about. I am re-training myself to realize that food is fuel and not my enemy. |

| Weight Loss | What's the difference between starvation mode and just being hungry? | Feb 05 2007 13:28 (UTC) |

| Based solely on my experiences, I would say that your body is just going through changes, and that it means that you are making progress. Your metabolism has increased becasue you are doing things right. When you are in "starvation mode" you are eating less then what is required to function and you actually get a suppressed appettite. Starvation mode is real, and it is true that you will gain more weight while in it, and start losing muscles and organs. I lost my gall bladder, and my thyroid starting failing before I realized what was really going on. Within 18 months of increasing my calories, my thyroid recovered, and I was taken off the medication. I couldn't get my gall bladder back tho. You are doing things the right way, just keep going! When you feel hungry, drink some water first, and then if you are still hungry eat an apple or a few raw vegetables. I would suggest that you do not have dinner have the most calories, it should be breakfast. At least that is what my nutritionist has told me. That food is the fuel that runs our bodies all day, and we don't need increased fuel to sleep at night. Just my 2 cents. |

| Thank you I appreciate that. I am doing this for me, because he doesn't care if I do it. LOL I want to be able to dance 3 hours a day if I want again, and be able to have more energy. |

| Weight Loss | For the chocoholic | Feb 04 2007 18:12 (UTC) |

| I get these chocolate bars from the local natural market and they are so good that I only want one square a day. If I had more, I would feel sick. My favorite one is called "Lavendar". It actually has ginger, cinnamon and black pepper as part of the ingredients. |

| Weight Loss | Not a firm beliver in 1200 calories. | Feb 04 2007 18:09 (UTC) |

| My doctor told me that I am where I am because of the mainutrition that I forced myself to live by as a teen. Sure, I was thin as a teen, but then my body started shutting down. My thyroid, and then I lost my gall bladder. The dr. told me that my fear of eating salt, or butter or any kind of fat actually made my gall bladder fail because it needed the iodine. He also told me that becasue I ate so little, that eventually my body went into starvation mode and started storing everything I ate as fat. So, I am actually working on eating, and eating healthy, so that my body knows I am not starving and that I choose better choices. |

| Weight Loss | what are you looking forward to??? | Feb 04 2007 17:59 (UTC) |

| I look forward to feeling energetic and healthy again. I also look forward to their being less people that tell me that I have a pretty face and a pretty singing voice, but need to lose more weight. I look forward to feeling good enough about my image that others opinions do not matter to me. |
