Weight Loss How much should i really be eating? Oct 27 2009

What everyone else is failing to mention is that you have already lost a good chunk of weight.

Your body is being stubborn right now, its taking a break.  Just go with it and not against it. It's not a race.

Keep eating what you did when you were losing, or maybe slightly more and keep exercising.

Everything else will fall in to place. :)

Weight Loss how much do you spend on food? Aug 31 2009

I used to spend $800-$1200 a month on 4 people. CRAZY!!! I completely changed the way I cook and what goes in our basket.

My new budget is $300-$400 a month for a family of 5.

I make EVERYTHING from scratch. Well except for tortillas and bread. We are Mexican so we eat a lot of pinto beans. I make very healthy lean mexican meals.

Lowering your grocery bill takes a lot of planning. I plan out my meals weekly to bi weekly and make a list off of those meals. I only buy whats on my list.

The best way to determine frame size is the elbow breadth test.

Original Post by shaded44:

My bf is happy that I'm losing weight for my health (I'm pretty overweight), but he has already told me not to get "skinny".  I asked him why and he said he likes women, not 13 year old boys.  So basically, he wants me to keep my curves.

But it really comes down to you talking to him and not us because only he knows why.

This is exactly what my husband told me. I just laughed. Cute.

Definitely have a sit down with this guy. You both need to have a long talk about this issue.

The funny part is when ppl would said....."your taller than him"! Its quite funny.

My Vo2max is 31. Im 5'9 and 239lbs.

If you read the manual it will tell you how to customize your settings. You need to calculate your heart rate at rest and that should help. I played around with mine one time and found that the lower the heart rate at rest the less you burn when exercising as per the HRM calculations.  I could be totally wrong though. LOL.

In a 35 minute Elliptical workout I burn 350 calories. Thats with an average heart rate of about 139-140 BPM.

I agree that its hard to waste calories on milk. I drink probably 1-2 glasses in 2 weeks. It depends.

Everyone needs a little fat or your hair will fall out.

Weight Loss 'Biggest Loser': Victory for Michelle, death threats for Vicky Dec 20 2008

I have to agree with everything. Vicky and Heba disgusted me. They were such hoochies to everyone.

I couldnt believe how Heba acted on the finale. Did anybody else notice her negative attitude?!?! She lost a LOT of weight but looked really deflated.

Hopefully next season will bring better team players.

Michelle was in my heart from the beginning. I was so happy when she won that I cried.

Weight Loss Tall Femme Weight Loss Buddy? Dec 12 2008

Im looking for a buddy too.

Im 5'9 and currently 237lbs. I am looking to lose about 60lbs.

I lost 40 lbs last year got down to 200lbs. I was a size 14. I was happy, but i was obsessed with losing weight. I plateaued for a couple of months and lowered cals to a very low intake. I had slowed down my metabolism and started gaining weight if I even looked at food. So here I am now, I took the entire year to repair my metabolism so I can eat a normal amount and lose weight. I have come so far and learned so much in the process.

If you go to my profile you can find a link to my own personal website dedicated to my journey in weightloss.

Recipes Share your Smoothie Secrets. Nov 29 2008
19:22 (UTC)

Couple of favs:

Banana honey smoothie

1 cup vanilla yogurt

1 banana....preferably semi frozen

1/2 cup milk

1-2 tbsp honey.

strawberry smoothie

1 cup frozen strawberries

1/2 cup milk

1 cup vanilla or strawberry yogurt

little bit of sugar or honey to taste.

pineapple smoothie:

1 cup frozen pineapple

1 cup yogurt

1/2 cup orange juice

I usually add a little water to these because I prefer them to be slightly thin. I usually add about 5 icecubes to make my hubbys thick.

I have tried smoothies with protein powder in them and did not like them at all. You could always add it in. I also prefer to use whole milk...i know bad.

Weight Loss Has any one used slim fast and lost weight Nov 29 2008

I bought a tub of the Slim-Fast Optima in Chocolate Royale, and I absolutely love it!!. I actually chose to buy the mix because I wanted something to replace my nasty protein shake.  I only use it once a day, so Im not really doing slimfast. They have changed the drink a lot so it gets me really full. Its really weird that a drink can make me full.

Anyway, like I said I only use it in the morning, basically because its convenient for me. Then I eat lunch and dinner. I dont count calories, I just eat healthy and within reason.

Weight Loss Non-intentional starvation mode: explained by Jilllian Michaels Nov 22 2008

She has some good advice, BUT it doesnt work for everyone. I had to actually eat above maintenance(2500) and watch the pounds pack on to get my body outta the rut I was in. ITs not fun. IT took 7 months of hell, (but good eating) to get my metabolism going again. Now I can eat above maintenance and not gain.

Weight Loss Non-Calorie Counters Out There? Nov 17 2008
15:40 (UTC)

I am not counting either. My reason is this: if I count Im ravenous all day and never feel satisfied. If I dont count and just eat, but eat healthy and within reason, I always feel satisfied and happy. I do a tally at the end of the day and always come in around 1500-1800. For some reason I do better when I dont count.

MY goal is to keep not counting and lose weight. I dont wanna be hooked on numbers.

Weight Loss Scales Nov 06 2008

WELL, weighing out a certain amount of water and drinking it, then hopping on the scale to see if it detects the same amount.

Everyone has their own opinion about scales. I was simply stating mine on Taylor brands. to each their own.

Tanita is definitely a keeper. Very pricey but well worth it.

I have a Health-o-meter that i bought at Walmart for 39.00.

It works great and NEVER fluctuates. I have tested it with the old water trick too.

go here, they do sale them in the store.

I would stay away from Taylor scales, I have probably had everyone they make and they all suck. LOl.

Good Luck.

The Lounge ghost stories Oct 29 2008

My mom told me a story one time that happened when she was a child.

My grandma and her five kids went to visit my aunt in Bakersfield, Calif. There were a couple of old friends that came over to visit also. Someone had the bright idea to take out the Ouija board for some kicks. So all the kids were sent outside to play. The adults turned out the lights and lit candles all over the kitchen. They goofed around a little until my moms aunt actually contacted someone.  It was a man who was very angry. All of a sudden there was a huge heavy cold wind that burst through the windows and blew out the candles, Mind you this was a stale hot summer night . Everybody freaked out and jumped up when one of the kids came running in yelling that the car was rolling through the yard towards the cliff. One of the men caught the car in time to stop it. Everyone ran over and realized that the emergency brake was on!!

Kinda freaky.
