| Yeah, yesterday I stopped taking the BC. Maybe that screwed it up or something...Plan B is only 75% effective...that is really not a high enough number for me to feel okay with. I took BC two days after I got the Plan B so I thought it would be okay. I quick started it, and the doctor didn't make it clear on when she wanted me to start...I was kind of confused. I had the period cramps though! I only took BC for like 5 days, so should I really be having cravings already? Yesterday I had french fries at Mcdonalds...that's really bad b/c I hate those. I'm freaked but I'm still going to wait until next weekend to be worried. | |||

| Glad I found this group! I'm 135-136, 5'6 and I wish to be from 125-130...depending on how I feel at either level. My original goal that CC gave me was 135...I feel way better than I did before, but I still could lose some weight on my stomach and thighs. I wear medium shirts and size 6 pants. I would like to maybe be able to get into 4s when my weight loss is over, and shirts maybe wearing a small would be nice! I really just want to tone up and lose the excess stomach, thigh fat and cellulite! I started from 155, so I'm really happy to have lost 20 pounds. I don't want to be stick thin, but if I lose just 10 pounds or so I think I would look even better! (Though I do not feel insecure now)
These last 10 pounds are going to be SO HARD TO LOSE for me! Hopefully I can do this by August or so....I plan to run a ton this summer :) Have a good day everyone! |

| Honestly every sushi isn't bad for you, as long as you eat it in moderation. I had whatever I wanted not worrying, and usually 5-6 filled me up, which is about 2-300. Not bad! | |||

| On Saturday I didn't exercise at all and had a little more than half of a Ben and Jerry's milkshake...it was SO BIG and had 3 scoops of icecream in it! Ahhhh, that probably went all the way to the hips now :( | |||

| Ugh, I always hate these threads b/c everyones body is different. I have huge thighs but my size isn't that high....I have smaller hips I guess, so it's always tight around the thighs. PLUS every clothing store is different from me.
At Hollister- 5 American Eagle- 6, fit in a small skirt though Express- 6 Aeropostale- 8! Height- 5'6 and 135ish Everywhere I wear medium shirts |

| Jessie, I heard that at some colleges they are putting fat in vegetables and salads b/c of bulemic people, so that they would still retain fat in their systems, when they would only eat vegetables...I know they did that at one school near me. Maybe they're doing that at your school too, though obesity is a way bigger problem than bulemia and affects more people, so that really isn't fair. | |||
| Weight Loss | I stopped eating! | Jun 04 2007 06:34 (UTC) |

| I always eat a snack at night, probably because as a college student I stay up until 1-2 studying and so I eat from 10-11 a small meal. Now I'm eating wheat saltines w/ peanut butter b/c I've only had about 1100 calories today, so this figures in to my routine. I also eat about 5 small meals a day so it makes it work for me...I don't think it's bad for you to eat that late if you stay up late, is it? | |||
| Weight Loss | Please give me an honest opinion-- should i wear bikini? | Jun 01 2007 02:08 (UTC) |

| Your body is similar to mine except I have small boobs, but if she thinks that you would look bad, she'd probably think I look bad too. I'm planning to wear a bikini, I don't care what anyone says! You do not look fat, don't worry! | |||
| Weight Loss | I just want to be thin! | May 26 2007 03:52 (UTC) |
5 |
| Yeah...I eat whatever I want, I just make sure to make up for it doing exercise, or eat a little bit of it. There's no such thing as bad food, only bad portion sizes!
But....I find that healthy stuff tends to taste better than junk food anyways. So, what I want is healthy food! And occasionally a cookie when I feel like it :) |

| Sorry, I meant to talk about health insurance, but I thought that some medical programs wouldn't pay for tobacco related problems...anyways I'm more of a proponent for universal health care, because a lot of people can't get health care which enables them to be counseled if they are overweight. I know when I went to the doctor she would look at my BMI to determine if I was a healthy weight, which I was usually on the high end of and for people that weren't she would have a talk about diets and exercise and such.
Oh and to add onto nightc1s suggestion, I think it should be REQUIRED to label foods correctly, for things such as MSG, which sometimes is hidden under blanket words that most people don't know what is meant. They do this in Europe. I don't think the government should enforce health perse, but why are cigarettes and alchohol taxed then? There seems to be a huge double standard and that is all I wanted to say :) |

| Why tax the food? So people at a healthy weight who want an icecream cone once in a while have to suffer though they aren't burdening the health care system? Smokers have to pay taxes and higher health insurance. Alchohol is taxed as well. There has been a myriad of different frivolous lawsuits that stem from the ideal of "blame the product, not the person!" What ever happened to SELF-RESPONSIBILITY? Remember when people started suing McDonalds for "making them fat"? Well, they had the choice to buy the food, if they want to play that game then you might as well make a law saying that McDonalds can't serve food to obese people or something, which would also be a dumb idea. | |||
| Weight Loss | the cruelty of ignorance | May 17 2007 22:13 (UTC) |

| What I also don't understand is why smokers have to pay out of their pockets for hospital bills (since Medicare/medicaid) won't cover it, same for alchoholics and liver failure, but why some obese people claim that they're being discriminated against when people mention that they should have to pay themselves for problems related to weight....I don't know. It seems like a double standard to me. | |||

| I don't understand the problem with a tax if you're over a certain weight...supposedly because of rising obesity there is more money spent on making chairs and bus seats bigger, and for the morbidly obese there are a couple ambulances that cost TAX PAYERS money, which really isn't fair.
Cigarettes and alchohol are both taxed, so maybe we should tax places like McDonalds...the companies will then WANT to make healthier food maybe. I agree with hockeygirl, if smokers and alcoholics (which are also addictions) are being held responsible so should obese people. I honestly think that no one "chooses" to be overweight, but you CAN choose what you eat. I am a poor college student but I've spent the same amount of money when I ate junk food and gained weight over the summer. Oatmeal and healthy cereals are about the same price as muffins and donuts. Going on a jog outside is free, and I've saved money from not buying dessert and buying fruits and veggies instead. It's honestly not that expensive. Meat is the one exception, which lean meats costing more then bad quality fried meat, which is why I get my protein from other sources a lot of the time. Honestly, I've seen some overweight people take the ELEVATOR to the 2nd floor from the 1st. It's true that there are some with thyroid problems and genetics plays a role, but not one that can't be helped. I have to work harder to lose and maintain weight than people who have naturally fast metabolisms, but when I was heavier I wasn't blaming anyone but myself. I lost weight, so other people can too, I think it's time people stopped making excuses. The people here on CC, we are actually TRYING, and being successfull, but with the obesity rate so high, obviously there aren't a lot counting calories or exercising. |

| Weight Loss | I should just get liposuction and get it over with...... | May 16 2007 08:06 (UTC) |

| What kind of exercise are you doing, weight training or cardio? You should ideally do BOTH, but if you're only doing weight training you will burn a little fat and gain muscle, so the scale won't move, BUT you won't be able to see the muscle without burning the fat. Try lowering your calorie intake by 100, and then start doing the zigzag method. 12-1300 on the days that you're not exercising, followed by going from 13-1600 on days you are, and then one day a week eat maintenance while exercising. Whatever you do, don't go sedentary for a week, that doesn't solve anything. | |||

| Uh...I was explaining to my cousin that I was buying new clothing because the I had lost weight, and he says "so you're not fat anymore?"
Ummm...was that like an insult or a messed up compliment? I don't know, but I've seen pictures of his ex and she was as chubby as I was, so I don't know what's wrong with him. |

| Weight Loss | Calorie Counting... | May 16 2007 06:43 (UTC) |
|
| I think people should make use of the journal tool, where you can post whatever your feelings are and the people on your friends list can read it. This (and the locked post) was a pretty good laugh though...Yeah, next time someone says something insulting and tries to deny it...don't forget that everyone else knows how to use the copy and paste button :)
Anyways, I agree I'm not "obese" or overweight, but I think if you don't like the idea of calorie counting, then why waste time posting? I mean, it's a little hypocritical...obviously you just want attention or you wouldn't waste time doing that. But also, there doesn't need to be so much drama and angry posts about it. Blocking users can come in handy as well, I didn't know you could do that, thanks for the info nightc :) |

| Well I only have like 10 more to lose, so I would be very happy with 5, though it usually ends up being only 4. One pound a week is usually all I lose...except the first month. | |||
| Weight Loss | Student struggling with the freshman 15.. | May 14 2007 23:00 (UTC) |

| I avoided the freshman 15 (well I have LOST 15 pounds this year...but that doesn't count) by taking PE classes and I moved into an apt with a kitchen that enables me to cook my OWN food. Whatever you do, don't eat starving artist type Top ramen meals simply b/c they are cheaper...you have to substitute money for health I think, and health is more important. | |||

| Weight Loss | my husband thinks I am obsessed!!! | May 08 2007 23:19 (UTC) |
3 |
| WOW, this has been exactly what I've been going through! Except I'm not married...it really sucks actually. I'm 140 and 5'6 and I want to lose about 10 pounds and I exercise about 45 min a day doing cardio. (I started at 155) He calls me "obsessed" because I count calories and because I've cut down on junk food. We used to eat at Carls Jr together and eat junk food all the time and now we don't as much and so he gets annoyed. He also trys to sabotage me sometimes...the other day I got a treat of two truffles from sees, and he bought 4. For himself? NO. He said he wanted me to have the other two although he KNOWS THAT I AM ON A DIET. He was trying for 30 minutes to get me to eat them. I caved and ate one, but it was more to shut him up I wasn't hungry.
So my suggestion is ignore it. You're not obsessed, you're doing what's best for you, not best for him. I think sometimes hubbys get jealous of successes and your weight loss may make him feel more like a slob or something... |

| Weight Loss | drunken munchies... | May 08 2007 23:03 (UTC) |

| When I'm drunk I DON'T eat because I'm afraid it'll make me sick....also when there's a day I know I will drink I exercise a ton and eat a larger dinner but smaller lunch and breakfast...because you know what happens when you drink on an empty stomach...
Good thing for me, I'm a lightweight and so I don't have to drink as much and LESS CALORIES :) |

| I have a similar problem...my legs are still chunky and I run a ton (though not as much as you) I've been doing it for 3 months...just keep at it....that's what I'm doing. It can't hurt that's for sure :) | |||
| Weight Loss | ate WAY too many calories today, need some advice! | May 07 2007 01:45 (UTC) |
1 |
| Uhh what's wrong with more than 1200 calories? It may be that you aren't eating enough which is why some days you feel famished and you have to binge a little bit. 1200 calories is the MINIMUM you should be eating so you should try for more calories and add exercise. Maybe try upping your calories to 1500-1600 and then exercising 20-30 minutes a day? This way you get more food and you're still going to burn just as many :)
Also- breakfast is the most important meal since you haven't eaten from your night snack...that's probably another reason that you're so hungry later on. You can train yourself to be more hungry by starting slowly...for a week eat a piece of fruit or eat a luna bar or something even if you aren't hungry. After that you should start waking up hungry...try to get 3-400 cal meals in. In fact, it's better to eat more breakfast than dinner b/c you'll burn the whole thing throughout the day. There was a study linking obesity to a lack of eating breakfast...in fact not eating it can cause your body to want to binge later on. Another thing- I find (and I read about it in a nutrition mag too) that eating a small handful of peanuts and water makes me feel full. Since you like peanuts obviously :) you can try that too...peanuts are good for you, they are just high cals but they still have good fats at least. |

| Weight Loss | HUGE BINGE | May 07 2007 01:35 (UTC) |
5 |
| Did you go over your maintenance or just the weight loss level? Try to throw in some extra exercise for about 30 minutes. Running for 30 min will burn about 300, so that's not a lot but that's a nice chunk. If you can, do a longer workout but if not than don't. Then just spend the rest of the week doing better. You will still lose weight, one day won't destroy it but you have to do better in the future. I agree with workoutaddict, you need to find the reason for the binge, this is important. It could happen again in the future. Is it a particular food, emotional eating, etc? | |||
