Liz-I'm at about 111 lbs. now. I've gotten all the way down to 105 in the three weeks that I've been sick, but it was unhealthy weight. I haven't had any problem staying in the 107-115 lbs. range, so I think as long as I don't get above 115 I'm not going to worry. The first time I hit 115.1, I'm going to so stealth again with counting the calories. I don't want to let it get out of control again.

I'm doing better. I'm back at work now. I've been sick for about the past month, so I haven't really enjoyed the summer too much. But I did get a 2-week vacation from work. I was more than glad to be back last Wednesday.

Hope you're summer is going well!

Sorry I haven't been around lately. But I'm back. It's great to see all of the 'newbies'. It's nice to have the group back in the double digits! I guess most of the last group of 130/120's have all fell out of the 120's. That's great. Good luck to the new batch. I wish you all lots of success!

Thanks, Liz! I'll probably be slipping for the next month or so. I just found out I have Lyme disease. That accounts for my lack of energy and less-than-stellar eating habits lately. And the meds are likely to make me gain a bit of weight.

Well, I have finally gotten to a place where I am happy. I quit counting my calories a couple of weeks ago, but I'm still losing weight. I guess my body will find a weight it's happy with.

I just wanted to give everyone some motivation. It took me four months, but I've lost 31 lbs. (and counting). I look good and I feel fabulous!! I'm at 109 now, well within a healthy range. I couldn't be happier.

Thanks to everyone here for their support, especially Liz!!! I do have a current picture up on my profile if you're interested. I really don't have any before/after pictures, I'm sad to say. I tried to stay out of the eye of the camera while I was overweight. But I will do my best to try to find one!!

And thanks, again!

gril4moon-The motivation on this forum certainly helped me! Weighing in twice a week (I kept a Saturday weigh-in date as well) helped me stay accountable for my actions during the week and weekend. I lost about 30 lbs in less than 4 weeks. To date, I am still losing. I lost a pound last week. I'm done from over 140 lbs six months ago to 111 lbs. currently. I feel great, I look great, and I owe most of my success to the people here for keeping me on track.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone drop large amounts of weight here!!!

And thanks for all you've done, Liz!! If you'd ever like help with the weekly charts (feeling ill, doctor appts., and such), just let me know. I'd love to help any way I can!!

Have a great week everyone!

Liz-I understand. It's my favorite snack. I usually eat a pound of strawberries a day. They're just so low-cal and delicious! I'm sure you'll get back with it. Just get healthy first! Your health is much more important than a fabulous body.

I'm still going to stick around and chat, but I'm not going to post my current weight and my goal weight here. I'm way too far out of the 120's now.

I basically do the same things as nycgirl. 100 calorie snack packs, no unhealthy snacks within my reach (although honestly I have no desire for them anymore), lots and lots of strawberries, and sugar-free/fat-free Popsicles/Fudgsicles. I absolutely love those. They're fabulous! I exercise right after I eat, when I first get home from work (about 5pm) and then eat the snack right afterwards. Then, I'm not hungry when I go to bed. The strawberries are the best snack, though. They're very low in calories and taste great. I usually eat about 10 a day. I cut them into about 6-8 pieces and they last a long time. Really great for movie time. Bananas are good, too. But they do have a considerable amount of calories.

To jumpstart my metabolism I usually go over by a hundred or so calories. I eat 1200 calories a day, though usually it's really hard for me to get that high since I've gotten so used to not needing the food, on my over-calorie days I usually eat about 1400-give or take. I feel like it keeps my body from getting used to the smaller amounts of food. I haven't hit a plateau (*knock on wood*) and I've steadily lost weight the entire time.

Lamoi-I feel kind of bad saying it, but I've barely exercised the entire three months. I use free weights about twice a week for about an hour or so while I watch tv, I walk on my treadmill for about 45 minutes once a week, and do the whole sit-ups/crunches/push-ups routine every day. I've eaten as close to 1200 calories as I could get the entire time, only cheating every once in awhile for things like weddings/funerals/vacation/etc when I really don't know how many calories I'm actually ingesting. I think it helps juststart my metabolism honestly. And I make sure I treat myself to something not on my diet once a week-McDonald's grilled chicken sandwich, alcohol (although only about three times total), York Peppermint Patties (bad idea: 165 calories for one!!), but stay within my 1200 calories. I've eaten as much fresh fruits and vegetables as I could and only at lean meat. I don't feel like I've been on a diet really, besides the counting calories part. I guess that's why this diet worked and all the others didn't.

Tenacious-Thanks for the encouragement. I know that you'll get there. 119 is not bad at all! Every step you take gets you that much closer to your goal. You can't be too far now! I don't think the exercise is as important as the mindset that you really want to do it. I really wish I had time to exercise more or even join a gym. But, alas, I just can't to get a sitter for my son while I'm at the gym. That seems counter-productive.

Coastiegirl-I know how you feel about the emotional eating. You just need to find an alternative method. Refuse to let yourself get drawn in to the magnetic pull of making yourself feel better with food. It doesn't make you feel better, it only makes you more depressed. I think that's why it took me so long to get the weight off. I would feel horrible about being overweight, eat to make the pain go away, and gain more weight. If you absolutely have to have the junk, here's my secret: fat-free, sugar-free junk food. South Beach Diet cookies (100 cals), Fat-free fudgsicles (71 cals), Special K Honey Nut bars (90 cals), 10 fresh strawberries (40 cals) with 2 tbps sugar-free chocolate syrup (25 cals), Nestle hot cocoa mix (80 cals) made with water (0 cals).

Sorry. I didn't mean to make that so long. I should check in more often! Hope everyone is well!

It depends on how large it is and where it is, but after a month I'd say you're probably fine. I've never had any problem with immersing mine in water after four weeks. Just remember: if you're swimming outside use lots of sunscreen. You don't want it fading! Have fun!

I still check in! I'm at 115 lbs. now. Pretty far from the 130/120's now. I've hit the goal I was aiming for primarily. Now I'm just taking whatever weight loss comes my way. But I'm content at 115 and I'll be fine if that's the stopping point.

I've restricted myself to only drinking in social situations-not quite once a month. Two, maybe, three drinks at most. And I try to make sure they are as low in sugar as possible.
The Lounge eyebrow and cartilage piercings-- advice Apr 29 2007
02:05 (UTC)

I currently have 13 piercings and I've had more. I have a very high pain tolerance. Here's my opinion:

1. The eyebrow doesn't really hurt, but the skin is not thin there. If you have a low pain tolerance, I wouldn't recommend it. Also, if you play with it too much, you can make the hole too big. If this happens the ring can get ripped out easier. I took mine out because my high school didn't allow it. You can get spacers, though, which most schools will allow. They're basically clear plastic that goes through the piercing.

2. Cartilage piercing does hurt. They typically take about 6 months to completely heal, in which time you really can't sleep on that side at all. Not to mention, it's most likely to get infected. I took mine out because it hurt so bad.

3. Navel ring is probably the least painful, next to lobe piercings. I've never had any problem with mine and I've had it for about seven years.

If you have anymore questions, you can message me. I've had most places pierced, except a few *ahem* private places.

I keep a box of the Popsicle Sugar-Free Healthy Bunch and Breyers CarbSmart Almond Bars. The Popsicle box is a 20 pack with 35-calorie fudgesicles, 10-calorie popsicles, and 20-calorie creamsicles. The Almond Bars have 180 calories each and they're oh so tasty.

Health & Support How did you pick your goal weight? Apr 25 2007
15:55 (UTC)
2
I picked 103 because that's the last weight I was before gaining 50 lbs three years ago. I was 19 and had already had a child, so I know my body was mature enough to accept that as a healthy weight. I'm currently at 116.5 lbs and I've lost 23.5 lbs since Feb. 2.
Foods George Foreman Grill Apr 24 2007

I absolutely LOVE my George Foreman. I couldn't live without it. It saves time, gets rid of a lot of the extra grease that I can't eat, and prevents me from burning some foods which I've been known to do.

I use mine for chicken, turkey burgers, bacon, hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches...if I can cook it on the GF, I do. All that excess grease that sits on bacon in the frying pan slides off on the GF. And since it cooks both sides (not evenly, mind you, you still have to turn it), I can go do other things while the meat is cooking.

I bought mine for a friends' wedding and she said she already had one. I wasn't particularly enthusiastic about trying it, but I figured I'd give it a try since I didn't really want to have to take it back. I really couldn't get by without it.

I'm 5'0/small frame. I was a size 0 less than four years ago. Now I'm a 6 and I've lost 22 lbs. I'd love to get back to a size 0 or a 1, but I'll take a 3. Anything is better than the size 12 I was!
Weight Loss what size at what weight? Apr 24 2007
16:11 (UTC)
165
I'm currently at 118 lbs at 5'0. I'm having the biggest problem with clothes. I was a 0/1 before I gained all the weight four years ago. The pants I've been wearing for the past couple of years or so are a size 6. They're very loose, but I can't get into any of the 5s or 7s I can find.

What's wrong? Shouldn't I be at least in a 7 at 118 lbs.? I don't know what size I wore at 118 lbs. I went from 100 lbs to 150 lbs in a matter of months. I didn't buy any clothes during that time. I wore sweat clothes.

I should note that I do have large thighs, wide hips, and a thick butt. But I've always had those.

I used to be like that. I could eat as much of whatever I wanted. I wasn't waif-like by any means; I was what my husband called skinny-round. I was a curvy size 0. That was not even four years ago. I'm 22 now and I'm currently down to 118 from 140. It will catch up with them. Now I regret the poor eating habits I had before.

If you're not big on plain water, Aquafina has a line of flavored waters with no sodium added. I typically drink one of those a day to have some flavor in my life (all plain water all day makes me a dull, unhappy girl). The grape flavor tastes just like grape Kool-Aid. I like the mixed berry too. They have a few different flavors. No fizz, no added stuff. The flavor is natural.
