I like Amanda and thought she was really funny because everytime she said how happy she was with herself now that she had lost weight - she was crying! I don't care for Rudy but that guy can lose some weight. I thought is was great when they showed how far people had come with their ability to exercise. Barely able to do anything in the beginning and really flying through the same exercises now with ease. |

Was it just my imagination or did Dan's friend Dave looked like he had gained weight? It was nice of Dan to offer to help him even though it probably was done for the TV show. |

Original Post by floggingsully: My employer really negotiates this, not me and I have no control over it other than to accept what is offered or change jobs. Comparison shopping is an illusion for most of us except the wealthy who will always have access to medical care. Alot of people cannot afford even the cheapest insurance and as a covered insured employee my rates continue to go up no matter what "cost saving measures" the insurance company requested from us that I complied with and didn't work. We need to try something else. Let the govt. take a shot at it. |

Not only will it eliminate the middle men, it'll also eliminate all incentive to keep costs down. Is your insurance/health costs currently going down? Mine surely hasn't and I have been in an employer covered insurance plan for a long time. The costs continue to go up and the employer is either reducing the coverage or increasing the deductible or both. |

Getting the insurance industry out of health care altogether is the only sane option...I agree with this. This debate really is not about health insurance it is about healthcare. Why would we want to continue a system where a company is profiting because someone is ill and needs to see a doctor? |

Shopping for medical care seems unrealistic. How am I supposed to know the best treatment for serious or not so serious medical conditions that are complex? Doctors go to school for years to learn about medicine and treatment options but yet I am going to choose the best procedure for myself/family? Not to mention inefficient. I go to the cheapest mammogram place who is not as good at reading the results and the cancer goes undetected. |

I don't think that we can blame all of the high costs of healthcare on the insurance companies. As a nation, we overeat, overdrink, don't exercise, and take alot of drugs both legal and illegal, then when our bodies can no longer take the lousy way we treat it, medical problems arise. I am not saying people are to blame for all of the diseases that they get but we are part of the problem as well and contribute to the high cost of medical care. If i have an obese, dope smoking neighbor, do I want to pay for his healthcare? |

Original Post by floggingsully: Just a wild guess here, but I think it is much cheaper to do preventative things than after the fact i.e. it is better to catch the breast cancer through a mammongram when it is a small lump rather than when it spreads and the surgery has to remove the breast, lymph nodes etc. It is better for the doctor to detect high blood pressure; diabetes etc. and help the patient change their ways or medicate rather than have the person in the hospital with a stroke or other very expensive problems. |

I normally do not get the flu shot but if it was available(a shortage here) I would get the shot for H1N1. It is running rampant here with lots of schools reporting major absences. I think the flu shot could help stop it. |

Is the only thing wrong with the car the transmission? Because it would be cheaper to fix and then save your money for a good car. You could get a different car and it could have problems too. I do not recommend getting into debt with a new car even at 0%. Newer car = more expensive for insurance, tags, and taxes. At 20 years old, with deferred student loans and not much credit, working 3 jobs, I would recommend that you keep what you have especially if the only problem is the transmission. |

I think I would talk with your husband (since it is his son) that his kid definitely needs to know about protection/STD's otherwise, he may end up with a grandkid or worse. I would also lock up my stuff and let my husband know that i will no longer go into the kid's bedroom for any reason. At this point unless his father deals with it and/or backs you, I'm not sure you can do much of anything. |

Original Post by michachu: Except how in the heck are you going to regulate when it is forwarded to someone else on the internet? I believe that if you are a minor that you should not be exchanging nude pictures of yourself via the internet;phone etc. Period. The risk is too high for exploitation of the young person. As a society we should be protecting our youth whenever possible and as adults we make the decisions of what laws are needed to protect them from possible consequences the youngster may not have even considered. |

I like this show and am glad that it is back. Everytime a new season comes for this show, the contestants become bigger and bigger. And they become younger and younger with major health issues as a result of obesity. The sad thing is it only reflects what is happening in the U.S. The health care plan for the U.S. needs to address this issue....and fast. |

Original Post by amethystgirl: This is really interesting because I had a similar reaction to your mother's. It was after the events of that day that I decided that I would be leaving my husband. What really struck me was the reaction of the many husbands/wives who lost a loved one. I wanted a relationship like some of them were talking about rather than the one i currently had. I understand that death, especially the way they died would cloud their emotions to the faults of their spouses, but even so i think some of them had lost their "soulmate". I haven't found my soul mate yet but that's okay, at least I know what I am looking for.... |

Original Post by lysistrata: I also think cost is the main problem. And also agree with the statement above. I don't see why there can't be a sliding scale based on income with multiple choices so that Americans can choose who they want to go to. I am not exactly sure what the co-op option is but seems like that might be something to look into also. |
