3 days ago I ran an 8:38 mile, and yesterday I ran a 33:25 5K (with a 3 minute walking warm-up)!!! This is coming from a person who used to be unable to jog 1 LAP around a track!

These are so awesome to read! Keep up the great work, everyone!

Weight Loss I can't believe i'm asking this but... healthy higher calorie foods? May 15 2009

I love eating beans (kidney or black) with my meals to reach my caloric goals for the day. I also put them in my brown rice. Also, I find that half a banana with some almond butter not only is a great snack, but pushes me over that 1500 calories I need every day!

Motivation a bit of inspiration... May 12 2009

What great quotes! I have one favorite that seems to apply to everything in my life, so I thought I'd share:

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler. -Henry David Thoreau

I've found that my motivation and "goals" have been constantly changing since I began this journey. Congratulations on your 4 week streak!

My first goal was to be able to walk across my campus without getting out of breath. 100 pounds later, my goal is to shave minutes off of my 5K time, and I run miles and miles every single night.

What keeps me going is buying new clothes and watching them fall off 3 months later. The fact that I started at a XXL and am now a M/L also feels pretty good! I'm graduating from college in 2 weeks, and I just realized that I will be leaving 100 pounds lighter than when I got here.

There may be people who can eat whatever they want, but they didn't have to work as hard for their bodies, and being skinny does NOT mean being healthy! Good luck on your journey!

Motivation An OMG moment May 05 2009

These are so great to read! I thought I was the only one who just recently discovered my wrist bones!

My "OMG" moment came the other day when I bought a pair of 33 inch waist pants, and they fit perfectly! The real "OMG" was when I went home and tried on my old 42 inch waist pants- a big shock that I had ever let myself get that bad.

I'm just 4 pounds away from the 100 pound weight loss mark, and your milestones are enough inspiration to keep me going! Keep up the great work, everyone!

Weight Loss What made you WANT to lose weight ? Nov 02 2008

At the end of Summer 2006, I got a camera developed with pictures I had taken over the duration of the summer. Seeing myself that huge really made me realize that contrary to what I had been telling myself for years, it WAS that bad. I thought I weighed around 230 pounds, but actually weighed 270.

I began my weight loss at the end of that summer. This morning, I weighed in at 185 and have been slowly losing weight for over 2 years. I completely changed my lifestyle, and am NEVER going back!

When I first started losing weight, I was at about 255-260 last September. Since then I have gotten down to 215 by dieting, exercising and lifting weights every night! I would like to get to 180 by my birthday (June 21) Count me into the 200 club but hopefully not for long!
