Glad you're feeling better!  Back to school (work) today after our 2-week winter break...UUgh.  I am so not ready.  I have had an excellent week-other than Friday when I ate a Gelato but still ended up only 200 calories over my target-not bad considering I was on vacation.  I have lost 6 lbs so far, but it is all weight that I had gained since October and there's more to go before I break even and get back to the point when I realized I had gained back 20 (not the 30 I originally gained back) lbs...  I am trying not to focus on that, just on living healthy day by day.

Today is the last day of my gym membership-I plan to renew it tonight for the year...I hope they still give a 3-month hold because we will be travelling to Germany and the US (home Smile) for the whole summer.

Congratulations on your 4 good days!  I have also had 4 completely good days. Last night I was hungry after the gym so I made myself a spinach salad and invented this awesome dressing-1 tbsp. balsamic, 1 tsp olive oil, about 1/2 tsp dijon mustard and half a packet of Splenda.  Yum. There were so many other things I could have chosen to eat, but I didn't.  Yay me!

It feels nice to be proud of ourselves rather than bashing ourselves, doesn't it?

Congratulations, changling!  I have had 3 good days in a row (first time in a long time), so we are almost in the same place.  I know you will have an awesome day 3 and I am planning to have another good day today.  Salmon planned for lunch and my favorite class this evening at the gym! While most of you are probably sleeping, it's already 7:30 am here. I have  eaten my breakfast of plain lowfat yougurt with strawberries and bran flakes. Coffee, of course, with sugar free Hazelnut Coffeemate-a real treat to find that in the supermarket over here-never mind that I paid the equivalent of $7 for 10 oz...they had French Vanilla flavor too.  I have decided to set daily goals for myself-today it will be at least 40 oz of water.  Yesterday it was no eating after 7-I ate an apple and cashew butter at 8 though-I'll try that again tomorrow.  Have a great day everyone!

Hi Munsey and everyone.  I was wondering if I could join your group.  I will be 51 in June, 4 kids-the oldest is 23 and the youngest is 10, both boys, with 2 teenage daughters in between. AAGH!  I am from NY but currently living overseas working as a Guidance Counselor in an American school.  I have ALWAYS been overweight-obese and it doesn't help that  I am only 5 feet tall.  I reached my peak weight (215) after we moved overseas almost 16 years ago and have been up and down ever since.  2 years ago I lost 60 lbs (I have lost and gained 300 lbs plus durning my lifetime...) and I was down to 135. I have currently gained 30 back...I am finding it very hard to lose weight at this point, even with 4-5 times a week at the gym-I'm sure the problem is a combo between my yo-yo dieting and my slowing metabolism.  I am an emotional eater as well, and there have been MANY good reasons to eat lately, if you know what I mean...Anyway, I am trying to get back on track and I feel that I need support from others in similar situations.  Hoping for some feedback soon-thanks for listening

I really, REALLY like your suggestion about what to do when you are still feeling hungry (or think you do...)This is always when I run in to trouble.  I am going to try looking at it as a requirement of what I MUST DO when I still feel like eating-this could really be a lifesaver.  Thank you so much-I'll keep you posted.

I have an idea-let's try to think of  things that weigh around ten pounds so we can put our weight loss in perspective...

my laptop, for example

I do that, lanicita!  I'm sure it's because we tend to judge ourselves much more harshly than we do others and tend to hold ourselves to some sort of higher standard.  I try not to compare myself with others and just focus on my personal best with everything I do, but it's so hard sometimes and I get so impatient.  With me, I keep gining and losing the same 5 pounds so I range from 10-15 more to go...

Good Luck
