Make sure you stretch out your hamstrings well after your runs. Tight hammies can cause your back to tighten up also. Hope that helps, I'm not a big fan of running (foot troubles) but that always helped me when I was still running. |

| Fitness | NROLFW...how much weight is everyone using? | Oct 20 2008 17:35 (UTC) |

This maybe a dumb question but the wt you all are referring to w/ squats and deadlifts. Is that the total wt your lifting? Are you adding the wt of the 45 lb bar? If that's the bar your using, some people use the smaller bar for easy of control. I've started NROFWL 3wks ago. Trying to build back my strength after bi-lat mastectomy w/ reconstruction in June. I've lost a lot of muscle tone and feel pretty flabby. I only did cardio all summer. I didn't want to screw up my new implants with pushing weights too soon. -squats 60 lbs w/ 45lb; step ups -25lbs dumbbells; lunges 25lbs db; deadlift 70 w/ 45bar; lat pulldown 60 lbs; shoulder press 20lb db; seated row 65lbs
the push ups I have some trouble w/ and can only do the 45 degree. I try some at 30 degree but can't do anymore than 3-4 &nb sp; &nb sp; &nb sp; &nb sp; &nb sp; &nb sp;

Sorry Melkor, it was of no help. Breast enhancement is different than reconstruction. Right now I have expanders under the muscle to help stretch the muscle and skin. Because all of the breast tissue was removed, it needs to be done this way if you don't use your lat muscle or abs to make the pocket. I chose this way because I didn't way to lose any other muscle strength. |

increasing your weight, even if you can only do 3-5 reps, would help and then do more sets. sometimes with me it can be mental barrier to pick up those heavier dumbells. but once you do watch out. ;) |

After reading through all the posts here, as anyone considered a drug free approach? My son was never actually "diagnosed" w/ ADHD, but we did go through all the paper work and had his teachers fill out the questionnaires. It was borderline and we just didn't want to put him on drugs if he didn't really need them. I was helping alot w/ his schoolwork but when middle school rolled around that wasn't working anymore. So we heard from a friend about Neurofeedback. It helps train the brain to focus. It took awhile for my son to show improvement but he doesn't have any side effects of the "quick fix" drugs. To find out more go to http://www.eegspectrum.com/applications/infon etwork Just another way to go. Hope it helps. |

| When i donate, like u, i workout before. As far a workout after, I would be sure to drink enough and maybe schedule a lighter day. And definitely get enough calories before to fuel your workout. Don't worry about getting a deficit that day. I think donating blood is a great and important way to volunteer. Hooray for you |

| I use muscle milk light. It tastes good and has 195 cals w/ 25 g protein, 11 g carbs w/ only 2 g sugar. I drink it right after my workout in the morning and it helps me from getting the "mid-afternoon eat everything syndrome" | |||

Yea, the way you stand on your scale can make a big difference. I friend of mine always leaned over to read her scale and couldn't understand why she always weighed like 10 lbs more on other scales. Only when she stood up straight on her scale she got close to the same reading of the other scale. Needless to say at that point, she became depressed and ate everything in her house

| I hate getting interference. Sometimes when i walk on a park trail near my house it throws my monitor all out of wack for weeks, even if I stop walking there. It will read 220 all the time and then go to blank. Does anyone know if cell towers would interfer or possibly police radios? There are cell towers nearby and sometimes a police car is parked in the lot. It doesn't happen all the time. It is very frustrating to look down and see wacky numbers and not get my calorie count. I did have the battery changed. Sent it back to polar (PIA). Anyone else have this problem? | |||

My polar hrm only counts (estimates) calories when my heart rate is 100 and above. So if i wear it all day, it doesn't count calories all day. hope that helps.

I'm with u beitttybitty on the watch thing. I did the same with my kids. Some kids don't understand saying "a quarter to one" is the same as 12:45. "~ Some of the schools in our area collect pennies and then lay them out and see how far they go. they count all the pennies and donate the money to a charity. |

| I haven't had Velvetta in soooo long. I had it a lot as a kid. I stopped when picking my own foods because i was under the impression that it wasn't real cheese just a "processed cheese food product" and not very good for you. But it does melt great. Wow, what we ate as kids! | |||

i like oatmeal with 1/2 c egg whites and 1/2 c milk in the micowave for 2mins and add your choice of fruit and tbs of chopped walnuts. U get a nice serving of protein and carbs all in one bowl. very filling I would try and get more protein in your snack at midmorning. String cheese is a great option w/ a handful of almonds or 1/2 an apple w/ a tbs of peanut butter. |

make sure your getting enough calcium. Take a supplement, it helped with my tenderness even when i was on the pill. although you don't want to, going caffeine free really does work!!! I also get tenderness when i eat soy. Just a thought, are you sure your not pregnant? My breast gave me the first clue. |

| you all may want to try kegel exercises to improve your muscle tone in your pelvic area. You just squeeze and release your muscles "down there" kind of like cutting off a stream of urine. U can do them anywhere and it's great to do while doing some ab work. they are especially good if you had kids. | |||
| Fitness | How Many Calories Do You Burn At The Gym?? | Sep 14 2007 20:29 (UTC) |

| I try to aim for 500-700 in 1hr to 11/2hr with my hrm. That is whether i do a class or work out with weights and cardio equipment. FYI when i use a cardio machine that u can enter your wt. I drop the weight i input by 50lbs and compare what the cardio machine has and what my hrm says. And the difference is still at least 50-100 cals higher than what my hrm has!! So don't trust the calories burned on cardio machines!! | |||
