Dear Coworkers,

There is this fancy invention called a "dishwasher."  You might have heard of it.

PLEASE USE IT.  Do not place your dishes in the sink so that you can then pour water on them and wait for me to have to touch them at the end of the day.  I promise you the dishwasher is empty, you have plenty of room to place your dishes on the rack.  And do not place your dishes on top of the dishwasher.  Is it so hard to open a door and move them a foot?  I didn't think so.

I'm the admin/office manager/customer support/shipping and receiving/Accounts Payable and Receivable.  NOT DISHWASHER/MAID.  You're grown men, you can handle this.

Thank you,

Dirktwolf

I played violin for a year, flute for 4 years, and am playing electric/acoustic guitar right now, been at it for a year and a half now.

My favorite flute piece to play was this old big band/swing song by a composer who has an auditorium named after him at my college.  But for the life of me I can't remember either name. XD  I also liked playing the sci-fi/hollywood melodies cause they were fun to listen to (flute got to do next to nothing in them though.  They were all brass heavy).

My favorite song to play on guitar right now is Free Falling by Tom Petty.  Or any of his stuff actually.  It's deceptively simple and complex both, depending on which guitar track you want to follow.

Ooo, Violet would be fun.  Possibly simple too.

I did the Queen of Blades from Starcraft once.  That was rather fun- lots of syrofoam for the wings and then green goo makeup and such.

Barbarella's another fun one since it's classic sci-fi.  And 60s.

What's the definition of fancy dress for this party?  Are they just trying to have people avoid the cheap "sexy" costumes or is it more along the lines of black tie?  (What I think of when I think of fancy dress costume is masquerade: 1700s clothing, edging towards fantastical and masks.  This is why I ask.)

A couple of tricks to keep cats from sharpening their claws on things and keep them off of places you don't want them to be on: aluminum foil and double sided tape. :D

Cats usually don't like to walk on aluminum foil, so place it on top of things you don't want them on.  (I had an upholstered seat my cat loved to jump up on and scratch.  I stuck aluminum foil on it and she stayed off.  Worked for speakers too (although it looks like crap.)  Same goes for the double stick tape- they don't like the feel of it.  So you can cover places they want to reach up and scratch with it.

And give the kitties lots of good things they can scratch like scratching posts.  Figure out what kind they like the best (my cat likes the rope stuff but she'll deal with the cardboard too).

Jumping and attaching to things?  Just take them off your leg when they do that.  I'm sure they'll grow out of that phase eventually or they'll do it less and less as time goes on.

I haven't had gall bladder surgery but I have had a laparoscopy under general anastetic.

The worst part for me personally was waking up afterward, mostly because I didn't want to wake up. :)  I was all groggy and all I wanted to do was sleep.  I didn't come out of it too well, groggy and dizzy, but all that happened was that I had to stay in the outpatient facilities longer and sleep it off a little more (I was in there three hours more than they wanted me to be).

I was terrified before hand though, so I understand your anxiety.  Mostly you're just goggy and sleepy.  I hope that helps!

Oh and try not to "fight" it going under.  I tried to do that, it didn't work and just induced a panic attack before I lost consciousness. :)

Over here in Colorado, we really like to give things spanish names.  I have no idea why.  It's hilarious to watch people ask for directions though. XD

Like Tejon is with that spanish J (tay-hon).  Not "tee-john."

Flamenco dancing is not "flamingo dancing."

And weirdest of all Nevada is not "nuh-vee-duh."  I mean, really?  It's a state.  Not that hard.

Weather this year is weird.  CO is actually rather wet and cool for July/August.  Hell, today the high is 60 here and it's been raining for a day straight.

I love this, but normally it hits the upper 90s by now.  My plants aren't complaining though. :)

While the cost of college is completely insane and it'd be nice if there was a way it could be dropped someday in the future, eventually- all this screams to me is a bunch of students not wanting to pay their loans anymore.  And while I understand the resentment of paying out the nose for a degree that you won't get a job without, don't kid yourself that you're "stimulating the economy" by getting rid of it.

Bare Minerals is rather pricy and can be interesting to find (can't get it at Target, gotta go to a specialty store here), but I love it to death.  I'll never go back to regular foundation either.

Get a big kabuki brush with it though.  Works the best.

Innie.  I used to have no problems with it until I got a laparoscopy.  Now, 10 months later and I'm just able to touch it without pain.

I kind of hate it now.  The scar freaks me out and has changed the look and shape of my belly button.  I've now got this one spot that's impossible to clean and will try to keep getting infected.

Stupid surgery.

I always thought outies were cute. :)

Not really funny, although rather WTF amusing in hindsight, but a previous doctor did this to me just about every time I went to him about my endometriosis:

After "getting to know me" and asking about my life, learning I'm single and that the fake hormones are making me lonely, etc, he looks at me and honestly says:

"You know what will help?  Have a baby."

I still don't know if he expected me to be the next virgin birth miracle, if he was advocating me getting knocked up by some random stranger, or really liked sperm banks.

Health & Support YAZ - Anybody Else An Emotional Wreck? Jul 15 2009

Original Post by lesaw:

I am halfway through my second pack of yaz.  I have been bleeding for 2 weeks!  I've gained weight and I'm an emotional wreck!  My poor boyfriend!  We can't do anything romantic and I cry at the drop of a hat!  I have no idea what to do.  Should I finish the pack and switch to a new birth control.  Should I stop the pack halfway through?  Anyone else out there had similar experiences?

The usual guidelines are to wait three months to see if your body "adjusts" to the hormones.  That said you absolutely do not have to stay on it if you can't stand it.  My advice is to switch to a different pill.

The excessive spotting sounds to me like Yaz is too low dose to tell your body to stop.  (I had a three month period on the Nuva Ring.  So not fun.)

Health & Support Have any experience with Yasmin birth control pill? Jul 15 2009
22:22 (UTC)
Original Post by jazzygal:

I can only guess that my cramps are menstruation related as they only happen while I am menstruating. The day that my doctor prescribed me the Yasmin (about 10 days ago) he did a swab and examination, so I assume if the test results reveal anything problematic as far as endometriosis or anything he will let me know.

Endometriosis can only be officially diagnosed through laparoscopic surgery, but it can also be sometimes detected if you have chocolate cysts through an ultrasound.  And unfortunately it's such a quiet little problem that most doctors don't even think about it, or even worse ignore your concerns or tell you it's all in your head.

The kind of trademark symptoms seem to be heavy, long, and very painful periods.  There's a host of other symptoms, and some people with endo have little to no symptoms at all.  But basically the bottom line is that if you're in a lot of pain that's not normal and you don't have to deal with it.

I'm not saying you have endo at all, just don't trust your doctor to tell you you have it.  Hopefully Yasmin will work very well for you. :)  (I have no experience with it myself.)  Just remember that it takes about 3 months for "temporary" side effects of HBC to go away, and usually the ones that linger are there to stay.  And remember there are a ton of different pills out there and if you don't like this one there's no reason to stay on it.

Good luck! :)

Another thing is that my boobs hurt more than theyve ever hurt in my entire life. I always feel like there must be something wrong with me cuz I can barely touch them without them aching horribly. Its not just once a month either, its all the time.

Evening Primrose Oil Caplets.  They are a miracle for getting rid of the boob pain (the Ring gave it to me too).  You can find them with the vitamins.

Health & Support NuvaRing anyone? Jul 15 2009

I was on the Ring for 12 months for endo treatment.  There were so many things I liked about it: the conveniance, the low dose, the fact that it didn't seem to screw with my weight or my sex drive.  But it gave me a horrible depression that just kept creeping on, I cried all the time, and my acne was insanely bad.  I also was supposed to stack them back to back to skip periods, but my body loved to ignore them and bleed anyway.  That's a major reason I gave up on them- I had a three month long period at the end of it and I was so depressed I couldn't function.

It never did anything to my boobs either.  The 3 pounds sound like they might be water retention, which HBC is known for.

It usually takes 3 months to have the temporary symptoms of HBC go away.  I'd say if you want to, stick it out and see what happens and if you want to switch another low dose non oral option is the Mirena IUD.  If you want an IUD that is (some people, including me in the past, don't like the idea and that's fine too).

PCOS?  One of the more prominent effects is an "abnormal" cycle, either skipping periods for long lengths of time or having one constantly.  It might be something to bring up.

If it's been 7 months and you're at a reasonable calorie intake/fat percentage then I'd look into something hormonal rather than stress related.  If anything to just rule it out.

The Lounge Can we talk about sex? Again? or Still? Jul 13 2009

Unfortunately it sounds like the stress he's under isn't helping anything.  You say you feel rejected; how is he telling you he's not into it?  Is he nice about it or kind of pushing you away, because that factors into it a lot.

Talk with him.  Tell him you feel unloved- and that doesn't mean that he has to have sex with you right that instant- but that you miss intimacy.  Take sex off the table so he doesn't have to stress about it as well, but tell him you'd like to be touched, held, kissed.  Just simple intimacy.  That might help you both get through this stressful time and hopefully ease him back into the mood.

And you're not alone with a high libido, nor is it "unusual" at all. :)  it does always suck when you're not synched up with your partner though, and I understand the feeling of rejection in that situation.

Okay, maybe I missed something, but I never got the sense that that book was targeted to younger audiences. Everyone just got up in arms because she had published children's books before this. So? It's not a children's book, obviously. Now that she's done children's books she's not allowed to do anything else, ever?

Sorry, this just strikes a nerve in me.  I'm arguing with the article, not any of you.

Even though you are on birth control your body still has a little bit of a natural hormonal cycle.  Not enough to make you ovulate but it doesn't completely elemenate your natural cycle either.

Sounds like me- I'm ravenous around ovulation and won't eat a damn thing on my period.  So it sounds like your getting a tiny natural spike that causes hunger to rise.  Normal. :)

I'll describe myself. :)  I'm a total pear in the fact that the top half of me has bones sticking out while the bottom half is wallowing in fat.  I gain in my thighs the most, and maybe stomach second most, although a lot of that might be inflammation.

I have a kick ass hour glass waist which I've always been proud of, and when my breasts are their normal B cup I love them lots.  I just don't love them shrinking when my thighs just sit there and jiggle.

I've lost a little of the allure my long, long legs have, but I still like them saddle bags not withstanding.  They've lasted me through many sports.

I like my body, the scars and pockmarks and internal bleeding problems not-withstanding.

The Lounge How much for a full body wax? Jun 04 2009

I can't help with much, but it does take an amazingly long time for body hair to grow back in full I've noticed.  I want to say somewhere upwards of 4-8 weeks, maybe more.  Of course depending on how dark your hair is, it starts showing up much faster than that. :)  But to grow back to full length it does take quite a while, I was surprised.

I don't wax but I have heard it damages(?) the follicules and causes the hair to grow back thinner.  From my one attempt at waxing it looks like that might actually happen.

Hope that helps some.
