Weight Loss Help!! Nothing happening!!??? AArrggh!!! Jun 05 2009

If you've only been at it for two months then I would say your body is just catching on.  Keep it up because it makes you feel better - the rest will follow.

I just broke through a FIVE WEEK plateau and let me tell you it *was* discouraging.  My thought process was "I'm making these changes permenantly for my health, not to lose weight. I'm not going to do anything different just because the scale is not budging in any direction."

Lo and behold my body finally caught on, made adjustments and I'm losing again.  (Thank Gawd!!)

Good Luck!

When I click through that's exactly what the "OBEY THIS ONE RULE" ad is for! Acia-berry.  Only as an added ironic point there's actually another supplement you have to take with the Acia-berry stuff, so wouldn't that be TWO rules?

I use Google Chrome. Since Google lives on ads I doubt they have an ad blocker, but hey - I'm certainly going to be looking for one today. Thanks for the tip. (and I can always go back to Firefox.)

Weight Loss not hungry for breakfast? May 06 2009

There's a whole grain bread I get that is 80 calories a slice.  I put one teaspoon of peanut butter on a toasted piece of bread for breakfast every day. Its only 130 calories and it holds me until at least 10:30 or 11:00 -- your mileage may vary. Wink Just wanted to point out that peanut butter isn't bad if eaten in moderation. I think a "serving size" of two tablespoons is quite a lot at once!

Heya - sometimes right after I eat a piece of fruit, my stomach will growl literally 15 minutes later worse than it did before I ate it!  Try using grains combined with protein for snacks instead of all this "lite" stuff (though its all good for you!) For example rye crackers and sliced turkey together, or raisains and peanuts.

I'm just like you - it takes a while to find the right combination that works.  Not everything you read here works for everyone.

Stick with it though!

Good luck sweetie - I DO hope you wait...

Oh, I know I can do that - I just liked being able to browse because sometimes if you don't spell something exactly right, the search engine doesn't find it.  Like I was looking for iHop today and came up with nothing...

You're hungry because you're body wants you to eat.  I find if I have a very light dinner that the next morning I'll wake up STARVING. But if I have a big dinner and I'm really full, the next morning I won't be hungry until much later. (BUt I have my piece of whole wheat toast and peanut butter anyway!)

When I felt really weak all the time I went to the doctor and it turned out my thyroid was all whacked out.  Have you considered a doctor visit?

NO - oatmeal. Can't stand the texture of any "boiled grain" at all.

YES - RAW SPINACH! Never in a million years would I have thought I'd actually be eating raw spinach on a nearly daily basis.

Perhaps you are eating too many processed foods?  I don't see any fruits, vegetables or whole grains in your diet yesterday.  Is that a normal day?

Weight: back up to 167 after two weeks of laxidasical (I KNOW I spelled that wrong! LOL!) attention paid to eating right and exercise

Avg. H20 intake: 70 oz per day (usually more, I have a 33.8 fl oz bottle I fill up at least twice per day and then whatever else I end up drinking.)

Exercise: MINIMUM 1/2 hr. per day @ 3.0mph, 5 days per week. I usually aim for much more (like 1.5 hrs.)

I totally love Amy's Chicken Sausages. I just found a new type at Costco, pepper jack and jalapeno - and they're just 120 calories each. Throw one (I use half!) on a piece of toasted whole wheat bread (I use Miltons) add tomatoes - ah yeah that sounds so good to me right now -- cuz I blew it and just ate half a "nutrition" bar this a.m. :(

If that one is too spicy sounding there are plenty other types/combos of chicken sausages out there. And there's always Morningstar Breakfast Links or Breakfast patties (made of soy) - I've been eating those since I was a wee girl. LOL.

As a mother of three I'd like to gently point out that your body will NEVER be the same and it took me an entire year after my first baby to come to grips with that.  Just be patient...and congratulations on the beautiful baby boy!  Put that lil guy in a stroller and walk off the weight.

I AM a mom and I have fat daughters. One is 17 and just a little more padded for her height than she should be. One is 12 and flat out a little chub. I totally DON'T worry about it. I buy healthy food, encourage her to eat fruit and veggies for snacks and just trust that mother nature is going to take care of the rest. I wake her up every morning with kisses on her cheek and tell her how sweet and beautiful she is - because she is!!  When I was her age my mom constantly made comments about how my stomach stuck out and my posture was so poor...now i look back at pictures and I wasn't fat at all but that's exactly how I saw myself for years and years.

I know mother nature might NOT work it out for my 12 yr old (like by making her grow another foot and a half LOL) but when she's ready to address the problem - and its appropriate - I will so totally help her out with kindness unlike what I got from my mother.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that's probably exactly how her mother treated her so it's the only way she knows how to "deal" with you; whereas I went the total opposite way and am treating my daughter how I WISH my mom had treated me.

The big problem here might be that he LIKES his woman big.

People are attracted to and turned on by different things.  A well padded girl might be exactly what "turns his crank" if you know what I mean.  He might just be worried he's going to lose that.

I had a bbq baked chicken breast (no skin or bone) cut up over a combo of romaine and spinach. I added an ounce of shredded cheddar cheese, half a diced tomato and a cup of home made croutons. My total calorie count came to 527 which still put me 300 under where I should be tonight! Oh well - gotta have dessert! :D

lainey150 - I've quit smoking before (about three times "for real" over the years) and I've ALWAYS gotten SO FAT that I went right back to it.

This time I started the eating healthy/exercising FIRST and THEN I quit.  I'm actually astounded that I haven't gained this time around...it's making it MUCH MUCH easier to stick with it! (I cheat every two weeks or so when I'm out partying) Thanks for the thought on why the weight loss slowed down.  I'm glad I seem to be over that for now.  I'm finally down to less than I was before my divorce (after my divorce I lost TONS of weight and then found out I'm hyperthyroid once the meds kicked in to fix THAT I gained it all back and then some!)

The highest of my life I was 225 (pregnant); not preggers my highest was probably 193.  In '03 I started walking but not changing my eating and got down to 168. My goal is 135 - 140.  According to the tools that should be sometime around Xmas :(

BTW, I'm 40 y.o. and 5' 4"

Yesterday, I was REALLY, REALLY down on myself.  I was thinking "I've made all these changes - why no progress?" I mean really. I've quit eating "fast food" weekly, I quit having a taco salad weekly (holy **** have you seen the calorie count on those?!?), I exercise at a minimum 30 minutes a day but usually more like 60 - 90 min., I drink and drink and drink and DRINK water all day, I cut out coffee and cigs, I've made small changes ALL OVER THE PLACE and I seemed to be going no where.

I was basing this on how my clothes fit more than anything and yesterday I was lazy and put on 36" waist size Levi's and I think that was my big problem LOL! This morning I got on the scale and I'm 163.2; down from 180 - started CC on Feb. 7th (but not really with it on everything until later in Feb.)

So if I break it down that's over a pound a week.  And THAT made me feel much better.  I've decided to jump on the forums more for support and I found this one yesterday - now I know I can actually post here all legit an' stuff.

Having just recently been through the root canal thing - you are NOT wimping out!  All that blood rushing around would make your mouth positively thump - ouch!

There's no reason to beat yourself up about missing a workout. Just adjust your calorie intake accordingly. There are people on this site who have lost weight and not exercised a bit. (Something about waiting until they're "smaller" and more able to? I think?)

Hang in there! And good job...I'm eating healthy for the first time ever also. I was doing really well for six weeks or so, but now I've got the what-the-hell-can-I-shove-in-my-mouth-now? syndrome. Sux. I quit smoking too so I think that might have something to do with it. :D

Hey BGERDING2!

Good to see you here.

The main thing is, you are not eating enough.  If I remember correctly, you do 4.5 miles roughly on the elliptical in half an hour right? According to the Activity List, that would burn anywhere between 380 - 468 calories. Those calories you need to ADD to the 1200.

The 1200 is a base line. If you did absolutely nothing but sit around all day, you would burn 1700 calories.  This site says to only eat 1200 calories thereby giving you a calorie deficit of 500. You do that seven days (500 x 7) and that equals a 3500 calorie deficit and minus 3500 calories equals minus a pound.

If you ADD your exercise (and good for you I know you work hard at it) in to the daily mix you need to feed your body additional calories; so now your minimum caloric intake should be 1200 PLUS the 380 - 468.  Or roughly 1600 plus or minus a bit.

I know you're eating healthy and drinking your water. I just think your body needs a bit more fuel. When you work hard and DON'T feed your body, it hangs on to every little bit because it doesn't know when the next time it's going to get enough is. Do you see?

Try upping your calories to 1600 - 1700 per day for two or three weeks. Let your body get adjusted.  And don't give up! We're pulling for you. :D
