Motivation enough is enough. NO MORE BINGEING. Sep 25 2008

I know what you mean. I have to go day by day too, although Ive got things in place for the next two weeks to try and divert bingeing. Getting a hair cut, going to the movies, rewarding myself with small things (not food) and most of all keeping an image in my head of how happy Ill be when im away in a bikini if i stick with it.....

You will definitely drop weight on holiday. I never binge when im away. I guess cos theres so much else to think about.

Why does food have so much control? its ridiculous, its fuel and shoudnt be anything more!

I know what you mean.

I use an apple as a control. If i think im hungry I ask myself if i want an apple. (sure i like apples but not that much) If i want the apple Im hungry, If not then i know im craving food for the wrong reasons.....

Im a binge eater and this is helping

I have to cut out my triggor foods completely. I crave sugar, chocolate and cookies and I can never stop at just one.

Cold turkey is the only way to go for me. Saying that my foods are way higher calorie than carrots and popcorn. If your going to binge those are pretty good.

Weight Loss Crying and bloating? Nov 08 2007
23:01 (UTC)
Dont worry about the bloating and the extra few inches. I gain majorly with pmt. up to 4-5kg for about 3-4 days before and my loose jeans get tight, hell even my rings get tight! I usually find as soon as im done the weight drops off and quite often i lose a bit of weight even if ive eaten my body weight in chocolate! ( I always worry though!)

I also cry alot... anything sets me off. Have a good cry it helps!

Thankyou for all your advice and help.

The "whats more important" idea has been really valuable. It got me through the entire weekend without binging.

This week I am good. Its funny, the desire to binge tends to come in waves, I can be really good, focused, busy and working out then bang i give in and im eating like theres no tomorrow (I can eat anything between 3000-7000 cals in a sitting- which just revolts me after im done). Am starting to get to know my triggors which helps a little and I will definitely try the mindful eating idea when the urge to binge kicks in.  fridays and weekends are the worst for me....

Bad cheat last night and feeling terrible about it now...

A small cheat is all good but i always end up going overboard.

Bag of hersheys kisses, bag of nuts and rasins, kit kat, chocolate peanuts, tuna subway six inch, 2  oatmeal cookies, bowl of porriage with more rasins... Yuk! didnt even enjoy it after the hersheys kisses just started eating and couldnt stop. Am on binge mode today and really trying not to. Writing down what i had yesterday should be enough to keep me from doing it again tonight.

Dont do it!!!!

Wish someone had said that to me last friday. I felt like you are all day and gave in to a binge in the evening. (had apple crumble, peach tart, whipped cream, large bowl of pasta and cheese, 2 bags chips, bag salted cashew nuts, cookie, brownie, chocolate bars, bowl of cereal!!!) I basically stayed up all night eating and watching DVDs and I felt absolutely terrible the next day and have had to work my butt off all week to try and get back to my last friday weight (still not there). It caused me to feel bloated, puffy faced and bad all weekend. My clothes still dont fit right. Its not worth it. Fight the urge and buy yourself some flowers, get a manicure, have a bath.....

Thanks for all the ideas! You guys are great!

Plan is to treat myself to some bubble bath, candles and a low cal chicken soup for dinner if im hungry.( I tend to binge for emotional reasons like being alone, bored, tired etc rather than hunger, just get the desire to feel full and then cant stop) A cup of tea will be lovely too, Like the idea of the whole tea cup etc thing, reminds me of home (UK)

A friend just dropped me off a magazine too so am actually looking forward to heading home now and putting my feet up without the worry of a binge. As long as my evening is full im ok.

its winter here in NZ so its the blocked nose, sore throat cant talk kind of flu...... YUK! Missed my morning run so feeling heavy and grotty but just in no fit shape to exercise.

Hope you have a great night samgraves and feel better soon.

Thank goodness.... saw this just in time.

Im 8 days binge free but was seriously about to start on the cake and work cookies. Its 11.30 am where i am and i know if i started i just couldnt stop and id be eating crap all day. I have the afternoon off which often scares me as im alone and its easy to binge but after reading this im going to throw my trackys on and go for a long walk, taking enough money with me for a trim coffee stop halfway.

Suns out!

hey Kellbell

I noticed you mentioned the day after a binge you woke with swollen eyes and upset tummy. Is the swollen eye thing common for you? Im a binger (eight days binge free) but my last few have left me with very swollen eyes and lids the next morning too.... Just wondered if you had any ideas what causes this???

Ahhhh

Breakfast: Bowl of crunchy, nutty muesli with whole milk, a toasted bagel with nutella, a croissant  walm from the oven with raspberry jam and a mochacinno

Morning tea: bag of mixed lollies (wine gums, dolly mixtures, jaffas, chocolate sprinkles, mnms, maltesers, revels, licorish allsorts)

Lunch: chicken, avocado and mayonaise sandwich on thick white bread with butter. salt and vinegar crisps with hummus dip and a an apple and raspberry pastry turnover with fresh whipped cream

Afternoon snack: Oatmeal raison cookies and chocolate peanuts/brazil nuts with a hot chocolate topped with whipped cream

Dinner: tortilla chips/nachos with spicy mince, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. warm Lemon merangue pie with cream.  strawberry margaritas

Late night snack: cadburys chocolate bar (rocky road, fruit and nut or just plain)

Ok so couldnt get through all that in one day and still move but this is a dream day afterall.

Funny but every meal i wrote down i planned where and who i would enjoy it with. Eg breakfast with my mum, morning tea at the movies with my partner, lunch at my favorite cafe with my best friend , afternnoon tea on the sofa at home with a good book and dinner a big boozy night out with my girlfriends at a great mexican restaurant. Gives me an idea why i get cravings...... major association with food and good times!

My best friend is just like that. Lovely body and healthy weight. Gorgeous person too.

Shes got the healthyest attitude to food ive ever seen. No issues at all.  just eats what she wants when she wants and stops when shes full. No binges, cravings etc. She exercises occasionally when she feels inclined but purely because she enjoys it rather than for punishment. She is one of those annoying people who can have a few cookies and put the bag back in the cupboard and forget its there. She also probably eats 2-3 times as many calories as i do in a day but stays the same size.

She doesnt get my emotional issues with food at all (not that shes mean about it, its just beyond her). Must be so great to be like that!

Thank goodness its not just me! I have been binge free for 3 weeks following the worst binge of my life.

I broke up with my partner on the friday and moved into a new place on the saturday. I spent the whole saturday moving only fitting in time for an apple and takeaway coffee. By the time my friends left it was 8pm at night and i was starving and upset. I literally spent the whole night eating and watching dvds (went to bed at 4am)

Started with 1/2 cheese pizza, a bag of potato wedges and sour cream. Then went to the all night supermarket. Bought and ate  a Cup of raisins, whole package of trail mix, bag of chocolate peanuts, 4 bowls cereal with milk and yogurt, 5 granola bars, 2 pieces of toast with PB, pack of anzac cookies, chocolate brownie, mini cheesecake, kitkat and a bag of crispy mnms. along with a hot chocolate and 3 cups of tea

There.... the shame of writing it down should stop me doing it again!
