Motivation What size is a 5'7? May 29 2009

Hi, What an interesting thread, I'm 5'7". when i'm weighed 115-118 , i wore size 0-4 depending on where I shopped, but mostly Banana Republic, Arden B, Zara  and a size 26" waist in all my jeans- i actually fitted into a 25" but that was at my lowest of 114.

i worked out alot so i was muscular.

Now I'm 125lbs fully clothed,  not working out so much and I'm still wearing all my same clothes. The jeans are snug but the dresses & skirts are fine (all size small). The biggest size I have in my wardrobe would be a size 4.

Fitness Polar Heart Rate Monitor ? Mar 05 2008
16:19 (UTC)

Hi,

As far as i'm aware and I've had a Polar F4 for about 1 yr you have to wear the strap to monitor your HR, the machines nearby pick up the signal from the strap, so you Dont have to wear the watch.

But their website has a good list a FAQs you should read

Fitness What are the best butt excercises?? Mar 04 2008

Hi Sound to me as if your on the right track!

I Would also highly reccomend the Pilates based floor excersises! They are killer and you (well I ) really notice the diiference in the shape and feel of the glutes after only a short while.

Try laying on the florr on a mat on your hands and knees and bringing in your knees to you chin and then pushing the leg out keeping your foot flexed & maintaining a hip level height, 20 reps on each side, the also try the fire hydrant, same position (on hands & knees) but keeping knee bent and lifting leg to the side:)

heres a great link of video Podcasts for Pilates

Foods Extra Virgin Olive Oil Sep 19 2007
18:23 (UTC)

I've also wondered about this and found on one of my favorite recipe sites www.Allrecipes.com, it says that they give calorific calculations based on a 10% oil retention for fried foods,

i know this website say fried/sauted foods can retain as MUCH AS 25% IF THE FOOD IS OPEN FRIED. So i would go with the bigger number.

But different oils have different absorbtion rates and it depends whats being cooked and if its been covered or left open

Google brings up lots of pages on this

I prefer to run in the mornings. i wake up @ 6am and try to beat the sun and get 6 miles in every other day. I find my days flow much better when i do.

Ido sometimes run in the evenings but find the flies too bothersome esp. summer time !

Hi suffer from this terrible affliction also;-), I know that i eat really fast, I'm always the first to finish my meals when out with friends etc. even after eating a huge meal i still feel hungry but i've learnt that if i just wait for 15 mins my Brain finally gets the message. But i do keep low cal snacks for times when i can't help myself. the best for me are the 10cal jellos, i can have 3 or 4 and not feel guilty! I tried the 100cal cheetos and sunchips but they just didn't work i'd eat 2 or 3 then go over my daily cals!

Hi,

I have a polar F4 bought from target, i've had it for about 3 months and use it all the time, i go to the gym often and used to go by the readouts on the machines, but when i got my F4, the reading were off -way off- infact i was burning less cals than they read. I've now adjusted to this fact and run 6 miles every other day and i burn 550-650 cals in 55-60 mins. But it's more about targets, i know when to speed up when my hr goes down and when to slow down when it gets above my max target hr. I'm in my target zone for about 50 mins

It's also gr8 for workouts at home such as pilates or SI6. that tells me i burn 420cals in 60 mins at home doing Burn It Up!

I find that with all the going out with my friends and gatherings and at home i have about 2 glasses of wine/champagne a week and about 2 cocktails a week. I've now started ordering white wine spritzers and trying to make them last, But i enjoy having wine/champage at home with dinner and still do at time, like tonight i had a spritzer with about 1oz of wine & rest club soda so thats about 30 cals which is not bad at all. the problem here is that alcohol is so CHEAP here, a bottle of absolute $10, grey goose $36, bacardi rum $8, wine $5-20, champagne $6-80

I think i shud have been a mixologist as i love making cocktails, and have a fully stocked "bar";-)

Have now found some low cal recipes for cocktails all under 100 cals check them out and maybe order next time ur out! low cal cocktails

I'm sorry but i just wanted to reply to Alaynay in this post because I'm trying to understand what you mean when u posted "This must be how Asians or blacks must feel when they're around all white people -- not fat, but just "different" or "out of place."

I certainly don't feel out of place anywhere, wether I'm around whites, asians, blacks or anyone.

I've grown up in Europe, London, to be specific and know that when i visit the US and here in the Bahamas I'm mesmerized by the portions served at everyday restaurants. so that might be one of the reasons as another poster mentioned why the Czechs " don't get so fat!

I have a wide group of friends from countries around the world & have been fortunate enough to have been brought up by parents who taught me that color does not make the man or woman but that character & integrity does.

i think that statement is narrow minded and is very upsetting to me and may be to others. Please don't make generalized ignorant statements like that - it offends!
