| I started reading this book (I'm stilll reading it) and while I think a lot of things are exagerated just to prove a polint, and I've never liked fast food to begin with, i can definitely see how this book would turn you off. i thought the part about the taste and smell making factory was the weirdest. that turned me off from a lot of things. it's so weird! | |||

| This one sounds weird I'm sure, but I make a cauliflower mash, by boiling the cauliflower until its really soft, then I add tomato sauce cottage cheese and a little parmesean. ( I also often add a little flour to thicken it, some different spices and salt to bring out the flavor). I make this all the time and I love it. It is my italian alternative. I also often add it to scrambled egg whites. I put it in wraps on occation Also, recently I've been taking peices of healthy choice ham putting a spoonful of cottage cheese in the middle and wrapping it up as a snack....I love cottage cheese. | |||

| The amount of points you get per day depends on your weight and height much like the amount of calories you get. weight watchers acounts for fiber and fat as well as calories. Heres a link that explains it.
http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/article s/weight_watchers_points/ I like it because it has taught me to eat more vegitables and high fiber foods. here's another link that calculates points: http://www.webmilhouse.com/pointcalc.php |

| When I was little my mom used to sneak vegitables into my eggs by adding grated zuccini. I don't particularly like it by itslef by any means, but to this day I still love it in my eggs. I always grate some up and fry it for a bit in olive oil spray. then I adds eggs whites and scramble it. I adda a little bit of low call cheese. and when it's done I mix in a little nonfat cottage cheese. (sounds strange I know, but my mom has always made it this way for me.) It's very tasty. Everyone one of my friends who have tried love it. It's worth a try. you really won't tast the zuccini at all. | |||

| I do the same thing. everything I buy is low fat, sugar free, etc... but I pick at it all day. without counting the calories because I never take definitive amounts that I deam "countable" Thr funniest thing is that tonight I have to write a paper so I knew I will be picking a lot and I literallly thought about ducktaping my cabinet shut. Everyone I know says to preportion things. devide the cereal into baggies with single serving sizes in them. It's a lot harder to eat it when you're keeping track of how much your taking in. Don't ever eat without putting your food on a dish. then you see what you're eating. and you'll start to feel rediculous putting one cracker on a plate. However you probably won't want to eat a whole plate of 20 crackers either cause youll know how many calories that is. I should really be talking my own advice. I don't know! I'm no expert. | |||
| Foods | NYU grad students? | Apr 26 2007 03:52 (UTC) |

| I'm an undergrad at nyu, but the dining halls are pretty much the same for undergrad and grad. Some are better than others. In general, They usually have steamed veggies that are overcooked, they all have salad bars, which are good at some halls and gross at others. you can get grilled chicken (although not the most appealing chicken) most of the time and egg white omlettes in the mornings. Nothing is great. I'd say the worst part is that there are always temptations. The frozen yogurt machines and cookies got me in trouble. It's a "all you can eat" kind of a set up at most of the halls. I have to tell you, I'm only in my second year and I opted out of an eating plan. I use the money I would spend on the plan to buy groceries. There is a trader joe's, whole foods and farmers market at union square where you can get decent prices. Plus. most meals ring up as 8 dollars when you swipe your card, and really Id rather walk a few doors down to a deli with a full blown salad bar, dor about 5 dollars, and avoid the temptations. As for the school, it is what you make of it. I'm transfering because I'm a california girl and I don't particualarly like NY but it generally opens up a lot of doors, it has some amazing programs, and offers you so many great experiences (I'm sure you already know this). What are you going to grad school for? | |||

| Maybe you should try to take some space from her. You don't want to surround yourself with people who are that unsupportive. It will make losing the weight that much harder. you boviously don't have to end your friendship, just distance yourself a bit and if she gets curious as to why you're not hanging out with her as much, that might be the perfect opening for conversation. | |||

| I'm all for go lean. it's my favorite. But also, I've lately been really into adkins advantage bars. I'm not on adkins diet, but a lot of the bars targeted towards those who are, are very high in fiber and protein. I particularly like the adkins advantage morning start bars, in a cinnamon bun flavor. | |||

| I recently started eating hebrew national 97% fat free beef franks. they're only 50 calories for one frank and very tasty. You can wrap them in a piece of wonder light bread, and you have a hotdog for only 90 calories. i also like to chop up half and apple and put a little light n' fit vanilla yogurt and some cinnamon on top and about 70 calories (depending on how much of each you use). I also recently discovered puffed wheat cereal. it's only 50 calories for 1 1/4 cup of it. Last night I sprayed it with "I can't believe it's not butter" and tossed some splenda on it. It was a tasty low cal treat that kept me occupied. | |||

| I sometimes take a low cal, whole wheat tortilla and cut it into triangles. Then I spray a pan with a no calorie cooking spray or "I can't believe it's not butter" and fry the tortilla triangles until crisp. they don't get as crisp as chips, but they're a decent substitute. | |||

| Hi- I'm a sophomore in college. I definitely gained the freshman 15 and then some, but tricked myself into thinking that I hadn't (I rarely stepped on the scale). I've started to lose it now that I'm off my meal plan and making a sincere effort, but it's the weekends that get me. I like to go out and drink with my friends. I try to stick to diet coke and hard liquor, but those calories sure add up.. plus after I've been drinking it's easy to forget about the diet all together. Also, late night studying always leads to problems for me. I tend to eat even when I'm not hungry. Now, I try to keep a bottle of water at my desk. I'm glad to know that there's a support group! Nice to meet you all. | |||

| Hi- I'm new to the club. My name is Cassidy. I'm a sophomore in college so I've been trying to get rid of the freshman 15 for a while now. I'm 5' 10" and my highest weight was probably 180 (although, i avoided the scale a lot last year and decieved myself into thinking I was still fit). Now I'm 167, and I'm feeling stuck. I want to get down to 146. That would be ideal. anyway, this website is great and I thought this club might help. My goal: I want to feel sexy! | |||
