| I know the feeling...we visted friends over the holiday weekend and I ate lots of junk. Came back Monday and felt so shocked & depressed when I stepped on the scale. Got back on my routine right away and amazingly by today I had lost 8.5 pounds in just 5 days!
Those extra four pounds you gained plus more could be gone in few days if you just get back at it! |

| Star - I wasn't trying to say that gaining a few pounds is grounds for an ultimatum or anyone to call their spouse "unattractive" and I'm certainly not here to make anyone mad. I think probably both Annej and her husband both have their faults (as all of us do). I was just trying to get her to take some responsibility for her falling off her diet as well as her own health and the health marriage rather than decide to simply blame her husband, quit her diet because he makes her mad and further punish him. What on earth good does that do? My husband and I committed to always trying to stay as healthy as we can for each other. Am I going to gain weight with age and children. Sure. Are we both going to get wrinkles and grey hair? Of course. But for the things we can control we will put forth the effort for ourselves and each other. Always. End of story. And the moment your spouse isn't worth the effort to you anymore...well, your marriage is in trouble. That goes for the men as well as the women. I'm not just talking physical appearance here. I'm talking about helping each other - clean the house, bringing home the bacon, taking care of the kids. |

| Hmmm?I don?t buy the ?bad husband? consensus. Did he really say he?s ?not attracted to fat chicks? or is that what you heard because you wanted to blame him or make him out to be the mean guy for something that is actually your own fault? To what point do you expect your husband to tolerate it? A good example is my father ? since he and my mother have been married, he has gained a large amount of weight. He used to eat healthy and exercise, coach basketball, etc - now he is constantly on the couch and eating as much of whatever he wants as he possibly can. The repercussions have begun ? heart attacks, lack of energy, depression, you name it. My mother made her vow to stand by his side but this is not the man she married. It?s not the life she agreed to. Running to doctor appointments, emergency rooms with heart attack scares, picking up and catering to someone who refuses to do any of the things that they used to enjoy doing together (going for walks, biking, etc). Watching someone you love self-destruct every day as they eat fried chicken and French fries the same afternoon they returned from the hospital from a heart attack scare. I agree, kids take up more time and make being healthy more difficult (so much easier to buy/eat the quick stuff). But you have a responsibility to be a good and healthy partner and parent just as much as your husband does. Since he sees doing it for yourself isn?t motivation enough for you, your husband is telling you that you should think about doing it for him and your children or you risk it all. This issue hits close to home for me because of my father. My husband and I discussed it and we both agree that we never want to be in the kind of situation my parents are. Care about and take care yourself ? for your own and your family?s sake. And if you?re not willing or able to do that ? you can?t always expect your family to stick around and suffer for your choices. And do you really want to do that to your family anyway? |

| Is there a chance the ipod lady and the trucker were "being nice? I.e. trucker saw you biking really hard as he was pulling up and you both stopped said "you are hard on that bike" meaning giving it a good workout. Ipod lady possibly is a mall walker/excerciser and is trying to get you to convert so she has someone to walk around with.
Seriously, people just don;t realize that what they say may sometimes be taken the wrong way. i was in a grocery store a few weeks ago checking the label on something, and some guy walked by with his wife and say "those are fattening!" and kept walking. At first, I was really offended and went home all depressed. But then I realized he was probably just trying to be funny and joke with me. I weigh 122 lbs., 5'4" I mean, yes, there is a possibility he was being a jerk, but also a possibility he thought he was being funny and cute. |

| For those that can't even get out of bed - what about the people bringing them their food? If it were my husband or parent who couldn't even lift themselves out of bed, you better believe if they needed someone to bring them food I certainly woulnd't be bringing any pizza, cookies or chips to them. I'd consult with a professional because at they weight it may take some time to get their calorie intake down, but make it a point to only bring them healthy things to eat and if they want something bad tell them "well, you'll have to find someone else to go get that for you because I'm not doing it." Aren't these people acting as food runners for them just enabling? | |||

| For lunches I usually have a big salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber) and add pickles and imitation crab meat. You'll feel like you're eating A LOT of food but the calorie intake is not high at all. Smart-pop popcorn also makes you feel like you're getting a big snack for only 100 cals. I also love quaker instant oatmeal for breakfast - oatmeal connoisseurs would probably not like instant, but for me, I think it tastes great and is so simple/fast/easy to make (i.e. just add water). Someone on CC also recommended Philly Swirl pops that you can pick up at Sam's Club (www.phillyswirl.com) - they are EXCELLENT and a great late night (or any time for that matter), guilt free snack for only 10 calories. Since I get the munchies and usually crave ice cream at night, this is perfect for me. Satisfies the sweet tooth. |

| Hi Ladies ? I?d like to join. I started really trying to lose weight last January (2006) for my June wedding. Started at 132 (you can see the bloat in my face in the engagement pics) and ended up getting down to 116 for the big day (pics turned out fabulous!). I felt great and got tons of compliments. But since my June wedding, I have been less disciplined (especially during the holidays). Though not nearly as strict as I was pre-wedding, I?ve done a fair job of eating right and exercising ? better than anyone else I know does, but I?m back up to fluctuating between 122 & 123. My goal weight is 116 again and we have a vacation planned for March 24 that I?d like to lose for. Lately I?ve been wondering ? is this really worth it? I feel like I am constantly thinking about my weight, and if I eat something good like pizza, cookies, cake, etc or go out to a nice dinner with my husband ? all I feel is remorse and guilt afterwards and get so frustrated with myself for having to look at the same number (or higher) on the scale every day. Even if I get my weight down, I?m not sure if I can ever actually maintain a 116 weight ? and is that 6 or 7 extra pounds really worth the on-going battle? I?m sure some of you struggle with this ? what are your thoughts? I?m just trying to find a good balance ? want to be happy with my weight but also be able to eat like a normal person. Aurgh! |
