The Lounge The Lap-Band - Observances from afar ... Jul 16 2009

That's sounds like a horrible experience, but I too have known some very successful people who were banded - they were closely followed by their physicians and only had rough times when they were getting the fill adjusted in the band - it has to be just right.  Not for everyone, like the mass advertising makes it seem, but is certainly an additional tool for others to help them get healthier.  So sorry the girl at your work is having such a bad time - wondered if insurance would pay for complications related to such procedures.

I found a couple of low sodium baking powder online - still have to watch the potassium and need to use 1.5 to 2 times as much as regular.

How high are your levels now, United?  Mine are holding steady with the diet in the normal range with dietary changes - the lipitor sits in my drawer and reminds me...eat fiber - eat fruits - eat veggies - eat more fish and chicken - eat less red meat and make it lean when you do - NO FAST FOOD.  Still hard to get full quota of fiber...

Everybody (in the US at least) is entitled to a free education for the first 12-13 years of school - and you can make a living with a high school education.  The really serious students usually have an opportunity to go to 4-year colleges on scholarships, partially or totally funding their education.  However, I think that most college students should start at the community college level - much less expensive and an opportunity to develop study skills and GPA's that might earn scholarships.

When you need student loans, there are many opportunities for all income levels and the government helps level the playing field - but they don't just give it away.  Of course you'll have debt and should be responsible enough to keep track of it and pay it back - and that's hard to do, but possible.  You'll also earn more money, on average, than a person without a college degree.  I have a few degrees and all were funded with either student loans, scholarships, work-study, or my own pocket.  Now I am paying as I go - my kids didn't use their college funds! Sorry kids.

Exfoliate and apply regular lotion and then reapply self-tanner.  I always found it takes several applications to get it normal looking - I am really fair skinned.  Just make sure you wipe off the elbows, feet, hands - the places it wants to really get dark.

My daughter is an avid gamer and has an xbox 360 she used to play tournaments with and now she also has the Wii - all I ever hear about anymore is the play the Wii gets - it's the sports they seem to be having the most fun with - they came over and were all worn out - had been pitching, I thought it was outside they were so exhausted - but it was on the Wii - crazy fun.
Weight Loss how many calories is safe May 05 2007

Hi there!  I don't know if it is safe or not for you to be at 1200 calories..that may be too drastic a cut - and I think you will lose weight although slowly at 1700 - and be eating a healthy diet.  The key for me was to not get bored - so there is an allowance there for the things I like - it's important not to deprive yourself or you end up quitting.  As I went along, I did find it is hard to eat that many calories some days - and I never thought that would be the case!  And exercise is crucial to boost the metabolic burn (and keep up with teenagers).  I think 5 pounds is normal for the first week - lots of water loss then too.  Good luck!

*Drags wet- vac in room to clear froth path only to find it has hardened into a buggery crust overnight-uses pick ax and wheelbarrow instead*

The most annoying thing in the world, ok, is like people who use those little symbols all the time, like little cat ears  ^..^ , ok, or abr everything, ok, like leaving you to speculate on the meaning, ok, I mean like wtf is that all about, but ok, ok, ok I know - the people who repeat some phrase like ? you know what I mean ? ok, like over and over again, ok ? like at the end of every sentence?ok, that has got to be like the worst, oh, oh, ok, I know, like those people with run-on sentences who ramble on and on as if any body cares, ok, like those are so annoying too and like indecisive people, ok, they are the like the worst ? I mean like take a stand, ok?

*hauls load out ? suddenly realizes it looks a lot like kettle corn now*

Weight Loss Calorie deficit/ Activity Level question Apr 27 2007
01:07 (UTC)
2
When you add your extra activity minutes (exercise that is beyond your routine day/job activities) and calories it replaces the "just being alive" minutes and rate of burn with what you add it - so when you look under your account home tab, at the bottom is the total calories burned...compare it to your calorie intake right above it and see if you have a greatly huge deficit.

Not sure that is any clearer  **wrinkles forehead and rereads mickis question and answer - yep, all is clear as mud...**
