Thanks for asking this question! I didn't know either, so I haven't used the recipe analyzer much at all.

So I've never had dreams about food, but I think about it all of the time. I sometimes wonder if my bf gets annoyed with me talking about food incessantly. |

That's awesome! My cat loves to cuddle when I try to do pilates. If I'm resting in between sets of sit-ups she'll try to sit on my chest. |

My boyfriend is the same way. I'm jealous of his metabolism, but I'm also jealous that he doesn't obsess about food the way that I do. To him, he can take it or leave it. I think about it all day long! It does make me happy that I'm the thinnest girlfriend he's had :) He likes the curves! |

Many mornings I eat steel cut oats (with some added ground flax) with a little honey drizzled on top and a half a cup of fruit (I've been really into blackberries lately). It is soooo good and really filling. One of the many things about steel cut oats, is although it seems like they take a long time to make, they really don't. I make a batch on sunday night, stick it in the fridge and reheat it every morning and it can last for a work week. Healthy and satisfying! That combo can be hard to find until you get used to a calorie count lifestyle :) |

The combo of beans and corn are also a complete protien. Think Mexican food, but be sure to use corn tortillas, and you have a lot of food options. |

I agree with a lot of the suggestions that the others have stated... especially if you haven't been counting calories for that long. My bf weighs the same as I do on one of my "skinny" days and can eat a mountain of food. (I'm so jealous!!!). He'll buy me candy or treats and since I've been counting calories for a long time and have changes my eating habits, I can eat a serving or two... and fit it into my calorie count for the day. If we go to a greasy spoon, I can get some soup and splurge on french fries(cuz they're my favorite) and not feel bad. On those days, I go over my goal calories, but only by 1 or 2 hundred calories. Basically, it will get easier to incorporate your new lifestyle with everyone around you! |

I hate Jell-o and they keep showing a jell-o add on this website. YUCK! I also hate pudding and I suppose that's a healthier dessert option. |

| Foods | "Guilt Free foods"? | Jan 09 2009 13:47 (UTC) |

My guilt free foods are anything that is "real food", which is most of my diet. Then I don't feel bad when I have some potato chips or go out to eat and eat something decadent like creme brulee.
Right now I'm eating steel cut oatmeal with blueberries and banana with a little honey (not aspertame) drizzled on top. YUM!!! |

| Weight Loss | Eating past 7pm? | Jan 09 2009 13:34 (UTC) |

It's all about calories in and calories out. The time really isn't a big deal. Eating late at night, if it is in ADDITION to your usual diet, is what one should be concerned with. I sometimes work until 7 pm, so I won't eat dinner until 8:30, but it's a part of my planned calorie intake. Just make healthy, conscious choices (just like we should at every meal :) I have found if I eat high sodium foods late in the day, that I can feel swelling in my fingers and some bloating the next day. That will affect my weight, because I weigh myself in the AM, but I know that it's water weight. |

My libido is lower with some thyroid issues, but my BF and I have sex about 4 times a week. We're both really busy, so sometimes we get to bed late and just want to sleep. We always spend time being "intimate"... kissing and massaging each others shoulders or back, so I don't think either of us feels like we are lacking... Probably will change now that I'm pregnant :)

| Weight Loss | Cooking more... eating more | Dec 13 2008 15:08 (UTC) |
|
Hahaha! Indeed! I've been thinking the same thing. I'm just wondering if all of those additives are hard for the body to digest and it simply slows up the whole system causing a slower metabolism. I love my olive oil and butter... yes the "B" word. I don't salt much because I find a lot of food has the sodium I need (except for chips which is my weakness and it has a TON). I lived in Mexico for 6 months and granted I was walking EVERYWHERE... but all of the food was made from scratch and I could eat a ton. That was in my 20s when I had a raging metabolism, but I see that there is more to it than just me. The more natural the food the more easily your body identifies and processes it. |

Yum, that sounds really good! Plus, when you make your own food, you can watch how much salt/sugar/oil you put in it, so I'm sure that makes a big difference. |

I do the same thing. If I know I'm going out to eat I try to eat lots of fruits and veggies so my calorie count for the day is low... until I get to the restaurant and have some decadent cheesy thing!!! If I'm craving some McDonald's french fries... I'll have them... but I'll just have a small. I feel really deprived if I can't have the foods that I love. I try to balance it with lots of healthy things. Thankfully I also love broccoli, salads, veggies, and whole grains. |

| Foods | Black Friday Nutrition | Nov 21 2008 15:21 (UTC) |

Jetswings makes some great point. Try to stay hydrated and eat before you are hungry. I've worked in retail for 10 years and have had more than my fair share of Black Fridays. A good one for me when I can't eat is a granola bar. Sure, they tend to be a little sugar-y, but when I'm feeling stressed and need something satisfying before I dive into 5 slices of pizza or cake, it helps. I like Fiber One bars cuz they have more fiber which helps fill you up, especially when eaten with 8-16 oz water. That and a banana is like a mini-meal so that when you actually have a break to eat, you can make the healthy choice... like the salad you plan on bringing. And yes, overpack healthy choices... even if you eat more than you usually do, if you do it with healthy foods, you'll feel much better physically and emotionally at the end of the day than gorging yourself on pizza. I think this is my first year in a LONG time that I'm not really working retail on Black Friday as I work in a pharmacy!! |

I'm sure you know the usual things... don't exercise at night, no caffiene after noon, don't go to bed too hungry or too full, no alcohol, etc. The best thing that works for me is to create a bedtime ritual/habit. It will take about a month for it to sink in. For example, head to bed about a half hour before you're going to sleep. Brush your teeth and all that. Then write your worries and thoughts down in a journal. Spend a good 10 minutes with breathing or mantra meditation. It makes you focus on a word or your breath and helps to "cleanse" your mind of all the thoughts. There are lots of types of meditation. Prayer would work too if that's your thing. Also, in addition to melatonin, one can use tryptophan (the stuff in turkey) or a soothing tea. A tea with valerian root and chamomile helps me. Hope those ideas help! |

In the interest of saving space, I was pretty happy that I got to 49/100 having only been in the US, Mexico, and Ecuador. I've crossed nothing out because I'll eat anything once. When I watched Andrew Zimmern's show on cable where he'll eat anything, I had actually eaten everything from his ecuador show... grubs, palm fronds, guinea pig. It was all really tasty!! |

I LOVE these, and never knew all of the nutritional pluses. Especially the 5 grams of fiber. Plus they are a very satisfying sweet. 40 beans is really a lot at one sitting. I usually eat 1/2 to 1/3 of that. Yum! |

I can't wait to try this! My skin has gotten better since I've stopped using a ton of products on my face. Mostly I just wash with a mild cleanser once a day and then water wash the other half of the day. I'm using expensive moisterizer and would love to stop using that. Thanks for the tip!!! |

I swear the minute it started to get cooler, my appetite went into overdrive! The thing that I did was change from veggie rich salads to veggie rich soups and that's helped a lot. The body seems to get the comfort that it wants from something warm and cozy... rather than lots more food. I'm also making more comfort foods like cassaroles and pasta. Check out all of the recipes on here, there are great ideas for lower calorie foods that have all of the craving satisfying qualities of the real thing! |

I went to a mexican restaurant that had sweet potato flautas, which would be similar in texture and sweetness of squash. I'm not sure exactly what was in it, but I imagine it was pureed with some sauteed onion and maybe some chipotle chilis. It was DELISH! I think you need to do some experimenting and then post some successful recipes for the rest of us!! |

boil the pasta and veggies (If they're frozen they won't need much cooking time, let the pasta boil awhile first)... while they're cooking.... Saute some EVOO, onion, garlic, black pepper, red pepper, 1 T tomato paste if you have it (but still good without), and 1/3-1/2 cup fresh basil or a heaping T of dry. Drain pasta and veggies, toss and serve. Much healthier and tastier than Velveeta. Plus, low on sodium, low on fat. Boost the health factor with whole wheat pasta. Hope that one appeals to you! |

Both of these are good advise. Don't let yourself get too hungry! That's what I did yesterday and ended up eating a ton of appetizers... which is way more caloric than the meal. (MMMMM they were good. I don't feel that bad about it) Also, let yourself have a break. It's just a couple of days. Worst case scenario, in 2 days, you might gain a pound, but that's some pretty serious overeating... an ADDITIONAL 3500 calories than usual. Then tomorrow, go back to the usual routine. Throw in an extra 30 minutes of exercise if you really fell bad about it! |
