| Foods | A couple of questions about: FLAX SEEDS | Sep 18 2008 08:39 (UTC) |

Hi. I buy the ground flax seed and put it into my yougart in the morning. I think it adds a nutty flavor and once I got use to the taste and texture, I found I really like them. I buy mine at the health food store and keep the bag in the fridge. |

| I also would like to add my encouragement to everyone to get the book.
It really does break down the science of eating and cravings. Great book and even if you don't have time to read the whole thing, I just open it up and spot read. |

| Just wanted to do an update.
To everyone who had fun and replied to my post, Thanks. I hope one and all get to have their dreams realized. I still have 100 lbs to lose, but decided to quit putting off doing something I really wanted because of my weight. Yep, I got all my hair cut off. And I am so happy I did. Now I wish I had done it 20 years ago. Unfortunately, I let the hurtful words of another make my decision for me. Never again. |

| Just a note to say thanks to everyone who responded. I did end up going and am glad I went. Made it a lighter workout than usual, but that seemed to settle my mind and made me get off my own back! :)
Haroldandmaude, about the OCD, forget about it, I already am aboard that ship!!! Daisy |

| Hang in there kelz80. You can do this. I think so many of us go through the same thing you are going through and we know how tough it is. When I get like that, craving something I know I shouldn't have, it is almost unbearable. And if what I crave is actually in my own kitchen, I become fixated on it. I end up playing a mind game with myself.
Six years ago I quit smoking cold turkey. The only way I could do it, was to ride out the cravings. I would tell myself that if I could just go one more hour without one, then if I still wanted one, I could have one. Well, I would immediately set a timer. By the time one hour had passed, I would be focused on something else and the craving would be gone. I figured I would try to do this with my food cravings and amazingly it works for me. When I hear the alarm go off, I reevaluate how I am feeling and it surprises me everytime to know I'm okay and don't feel that intense desire for that food. Now mind you, when I first started this two weeks ago, it didn't seem like it would work. I mean the cravings felt like they were taking over my mind and it was like I want it, I want it now and to %$#@ with all the rest. So just hang in there, don't give up and know that CC and all of your friends are here for you doing the good and bad times! Daisy |

| Thanks. Trust me, today is not my normal day. I am a big beliver in sleep. Try for 8 hours at minimum. Just had doctor appts with the kids and other stuff that needed to get done today. I take off exercising on Wed and Thurs because I need to sleep since my shifts are 7p to 7a.
I guess inside I just have a major fear that it I miss one of the days I have scheduled to exercise, I'll mess up my mind set and once again fail at losing weight. Thanks for responding. In the end I guess I just need to pull up my big girl panties, take a deep breath and go work out and bite the bullet. |

| Hi. Love the book. Finally a resource that that really explains what your body is doing and what you are doing to your body with the choices you make.
Really like the info on the different vitamins and other supplements one should take. I recommend this book to everyone. |

| Okay, I read everyone's postings and realize, I may have shorted myself.
Besides the short haircut, I also want to get a new tattoo. This time, it will be somewhere a little more daring. Shoot, if all of us can reach our goal weight, the amount of shopping we will do should be enough to pull us out of a recession! Thanks everyone for responding and keep them coming! Daisy |

| Weight Loss | I think my family is going to sink my weight loss goals... I am feeling really alone. | Jan 22 2008 02:54 (UTC) |

| You are not alone. Alot of times family/friends/co-workers will seem to sabotage for two reasons.
1-They are scared by the changes you are making. Change is scary. They may feel that you don't want to be like them anymore and it is messing with their heads. So, they are going to try and tempt you, confuse you, etc... 2-They are jealous. You are stepping up and making the change. They either can't, are afaid to or are not ready yet. Feel positive about what you are doing. You are setting examples for your children. Good for you. |

| Hi. I am really close in stats to you and am working on changing them. I tried the slim-fast approach and blew it big time. They just never seemed to work. I always felt like I was hungry and looking for something to eat.
Now, I am staying with the old standby. Three healthy meals, biggest at breakfast, and two snacks. That way I get to eat about every 2-3 hours and never really get hungry and end up blowing the whole thing. Also, what is being said about needing to eat to lose weight is true. When you put yourself on a really low calorie diet, your body goes into starvation mode and it makes it harder to lose weight. I know, that advice goes against every thing we have been taught before. Good luck and please let us know how you are doing. This site is wonderful. I found it about a year ago and used it and lost like 20 pds. But as things happen, my life change started to slip and I wasn't so careful with what I ate. So here I am one year later, same weight but ready to go again. Feel free to add me as a friend if you would like. Daisy |

| Baked potato with FF sour cream and one tbsp BBQ sauce. Yum. Has saved the day many times.
My other favorite thing to do when I'm craving sweets is to get the strawberry jello, FF of course (Only 10 calories) and top it with FF whip cream. Great treat. |

| Bigtwinky, your ramblings make sense. I haven't hit a plateau yet, but do see the sense in shaking things up at that time to give the body alittle jolt.
Am going to check out the site H gave me. If I'm not meeting my nutritional needs per that site, will change my menu to meet it, but then I'll probably just start eating that same menu daily. It's just a big circle for me. :) |

| I'm okay to it adapting to a healthy lifestyle. :) Already find that I get sick if I eat something with grease or alot of fat in it. My body just isn't use to it anymore.
The eating pattern is one I've had for years. When I was eating bad food, I generally ate the same crap day after day. I always chalked the eating pattern up to my OCD. |

| Well, I do like to think I have a great menu. :) Nothing weird in it.
I know I occassionally eat different things, but for the most part it stays the same. I do change things up if I've run out of milk ie,,, instead of cheerios, eat oatmeal, and on the weekends I work, I take soup for my dinner. Overall, it pretty much stays the same. I was just wondering if there was a logical reason behind the posting replies I was reading. Thanks to all who answered. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. :) |
