I recommend egg whites or egg beaters somewhere in the breakfast.  Keeps you full and is very satisfying.  I like peanut butter but not in the morning for some reason.

I make a breakfast sandwich with the following:  100 cal english muffin, 1/4 cup egg beaters, 1/2 slice of Kraft fat free cheese, 1 slice turkey bacon.  And then I have a 1/2 grapefruit on the side.  Total = 240 calories.

Weight Loss New, Need a lil help Oct 16 2008
21:35 (UTC)

Hi Joe,

I found that doing high intensity interval training helped me to break a plateau- I can feel the difference immediately and I only do HIIT maybe like 2x a week, while working out regularly 4 other days of the week.  I made up my own program that included 1/2 sprinting and 1/2 jogging 8 times around the track.  It's the hardest workouts I do all week, but I can really feel a major difference in my body afterwards.

Good luck!

Allison

Ozmagirl- thank you!  That is very helpful advice and motivation.  My wedding is June 20, 2009 and I currently "Shedding for the Wedding."  I started off back in Jan 07 at 159 lbs, I am down to 142 but would like to be anywhere between 130 and 135 for the wedding day.

Staying on track is tough, but having the end goal in mind helps.

Also, until they subside, I would avoid alcohol.  When I drink, I ALWAYS wake up in the middle of the night with charlie horses in my calves.  This only ever happens when I drink - it may be the dehydration, but also, the booze isnt exactly good for the bod :)

When I used to smoke a lot in college, I did the same thing:  eat good all day and then pigged out on everything afterwards.  I finally just learned that you HAVE to learn self-control.  I would always have like 5 or 6 bottles of water (regular and seltzer) diet soda, and always always have gum with me while I was with my friends.  There is no answer other than to teach yourself that just because you got stoned doesn't mean you have to eat.  That whole "munchies" bit is a myth if you tell yourself it is! Also, once I learned to control the cravings the first time, it became a lot easier to control them going forward

Agreed with the veggie suggestion.  I try to incorporate "color" into my food- greens, yellows, reds etc.  While I don't follow that rule everyday, I don't see many "fresh" items on your list.  I mean I guess they aren't necessary per se to lose weight, but they'll make your insides feel much better

when i was in college, I always had to have a supply of:

jello 60 cal puddings

kashi cereal

bags of spinach

baked tostitos and salsa

cans of tuna

pita wraps

dried fruit

when you're college, people are usually snacking around you all the time, so this is good to have because you can snack on it with others and feel less guilty

You are lucky!  I am kind of at this on my own.  My boyfriend is totally supportive and congratulates me when I lose... but he doesn't eat healthy with me.  But I don't mind being on my own.  Our wedding is June 20 and I know what I need to do between now and then. One of my gifts to my future husband is a Hot Body haha

I wish some would come off my boobs.  My family all has big boobs, but I would LOVE to be a C (right now I am D, sometimes DD).   I've gone from 159 to 142 and haven't seen a reduction in the chest area.  When I reach my goal I hope they don't look too big for my body.  I feel like a normal size chest makes people look smaller- boobs that are too big can be deceiving.  Plus they hurt :(

Hey- last night, I was under my calories also and I went out after class to have two glasses of wine with friends.  This morning I woke up and I didn't gain- I actually lost!  Of course, it was probably because I was dehydrated, but I think its a-ok to have a glass of wine once in a while :)

I have to imagine that a good bit of that weight the first week is water weight.... think of the last time these people actually broke a sweat.  Probably never.  Next week will be a lot harder when they don't see the same kind of numbers - then they will know how we all feel! hahaha

Agreed- the packaging is wasteful.... but they are also so convenient for people on-the-go who leave the house at 7 and don't get home until 10 or 11 most days.

Shinyblackpit- thats exactly what I do.  I only have 1 at night when the fiance eats Breyers.  100 cal packs are my saving grace... so if I binge on them, it would be like abusing my priveledge.

OMG I hate them.  My trick is to put all the food away, and while they are flying around on the wall and in the fruit bowl looking for precious remnants, BLAST them with Lysol ALL PURPOSE cleaner- this is the only stuff that kills them IMO.  Regular lysol won't do it, it has to be the all-purpose cleaner.  Fruit flies are the spawn of the devil

In addition to adding more calories, try integrating some interval training into your workout.  When I hit a plateau, I turned my regular 3.5 mile run into half jog/half sprinting.  My body is DEF. not used to sprinting and I could feel a major difference, even after the first workout.  I do interval training 2 x week and regular steady workouts 3x per week.  After doing that for two weeks, I have broke the plateau and dropped 2 more lbs. To make it work, you really gotta push your body.... but it does work!
Weight Loss Losing weight and being social Sep 12 2008

Eating less seems like an easy solution.... but it can be difficult in social settings when everyone around you eats as much of whatever they'd like.  The social aspect of watching your calorie intake is one of the hardest parts, we all know this.  So, while eating less IS the solution, it is not easy at all.  Part of the solution comes from willpower- that is what I was getting at.

There isn't an easy solution.  But what I have learned is that if I a) eat 1/2 my portion and bring the other half home and b) order something on the lighter side like grilled fish, it has not affected my weight loss.

I have also learned that you can't put your life on hold while trying to be healthy and lose weight.  Life will continue to happen- if you remove yourself from it, chances are you will sabotage yourself when you become social again (thats what I did).

I also try to remember that all the times I have fought the urge to eat the bread it contributed to making my will-power that much stronger.  And when I am out I will say to myself "You didn't give in to the bread at the last restaurant, why would you give in now?"  Building will power and staying true to yourself is just as important as the weight loss itself.

159 was my eeek! weight also.  I never ever remembered being more than 145.  And then I weighed myself in Jan. 07 and was like what the heck??  I am 144 now... slow and steady.  about 10-14 more lbs to go.  You can do it!

I got the late night cravings last night and I had no more calories to eat, so I had a can of Zazz, green tea, water, and then 8 oz crystal light (I snuck in those 5 extra calories).  I had to pee a lot, but at least I didn't eat! haha

Weight Loss Has anybody lost 50 or more pounds WITHOUT exercise? Sep 10 2008

I have read on some posts on here that some people who have lost a lot of weight without exercise tend to find themselves thin, but flabby and not tight.  Personally, if I spent all that time working so hard to lose all that weight, I'd want to be toned and tight.  I don't think the flabby thing happens to everyone, but just wanted to share.

Do you have on-demand cable?  I know Comcast on-demand has Exercise TV which is a ton of workout videos at your fingertips.  Just throw one on while you are home with your baby and throw in some punches/pushups/kicks etc here and there when you have a chance.  I throw them on while I am cleaning my house

I broke my mini plateau last week by changing up my running into intervals... usually I just go out and run 3-4 miles at a steady pace.  Instead this time, I went to the track and broke 3 miles into 1/2 running and 1/2 sprinting.  It was so HARD but that change really gave me a boost.  Plus, I felt so good afterwards.  Its worth a try!
