Pregnancy & Parenting What won't make you puke in first trimestre... Feb 09 2009
07:56 (UTC)
15

I felt very nauseous from 2 weeks pregnant, and I hate to say it but im currently 41 weeks pregnant and it still hasn't changed!!

There are some days/weeks that are better than others but on the days I feel too sick to eat anything I just try to drink sugary drinks (natural sugars - oj, apple juice etc).

Just like sereniticat, I found that I'm quite 'faddy' and go through phases of really wanting oranges, or a ham salad, or a big hunk of some kind of fresh fruit, and not being able to face anything else.

Eat when you can, and don't try and force something down you dont fancy, itll just make you feel worse.

Nope! Baby is being 'fashionably' late. All last week I had false labour pains and since friday - nothing! Not a sausage!

Far too comfortable in 'hotel mum' i think.

aaah! I was wondering how you would weigh them, lol.

Try braStop.com for cheaper bras. They're pretty good quality (maybe not as hard wearing as bravissimo ones) but generally they sell brand names and cut prices - catalogue returns I believe.

Good for swimwear for holidays :)

The last bra I bought was only £16 (which might sound a lot to other people - but generally the ones I buy cost almost £30) not through choice either! they're just generally vey expensive!

They were far too big! I really hated them. It got to the stage that I had to wear a bra constantly because they were too heavy! I was that size in high school as well.. which was just awful im sure you can imagine!!

I had to hold them in the shower too! (sucked, lol) Just invest in some good bras..
I can't believe how small they feel to me now (FF!) but they are just so much more comfortable.

I can wear cool t-shirts that fit properly without the pattern stretching and cracking over the bust! (www.threadless.com = awesome t-shirts)

Oh that woman annoys me.. she has a face like a melted wellie.

Embarassing that she was told off for calling herself a doctor!
Her nutritional advice and the validity of her qualifications have been questioned by health professionals.[1]

One TV advertisement of her book was cited by the Advertising Standards Authority in 2005 as misscheduled for a commercial TV break.[2]

Another issue was "informally resolved," in 2007 by the ASA about one leaflet's failure to note her PhD "without the usual disclaimer she was not a medical doctor";[3]

she then agreed to stop using the title 'Doctor' on her products.[4]

In 2005, McKeith was given the Best Organic Businesses 2005 Consumer Education Award by the Soil Association.[5]

I would just come to terms that they are part of you.. and not worry about how much they weigh. If you are aiming for a healthy weight range then they shouldnt make much of a difference. Plus, they will shrink as you lose more weight :)

I feel your pain! I was 219lbs + (uk size 16/18) and a 36HH! cup before I started losing weight, now im down to 160lbs they have shrunk with me and im a uk size 12 and down to 32FF :)! [much to my delight, but my bf has said "where did the boobies go?? :( lol]

But i wouldnt worry about their weight too much.. certainly, if you are about 5lbs from a healthy BMI, you feel healthy and dont want to lose any more, then take them into consideration.. but generally, I don't :)

oh yuck!

I remember when I was younger my sisters and I bought some candied apples from the local shop, my youngest sister took a bite to find a worm in the middle of the apple!!

and as if that wasnt bad enough, my other sister took a bite to find HALF a worm in her apple!! (they both took a bite at the same time) The candy had covered up the holes so we didn't notice they had crawled into them. eugh!!

Luckily for me.. they both took a bite before me and I just binned mine!

*shudders* ew ew ew.

I have to admit to being boring and having the same thing for breakfast all week!

Porridge + milk + honey! mmm. Sometimes topped with fruit & nuts.

At weekends I make up a breakfast pot to take to work:

tablespoon of honey at the bottom
100g Bio Yoghurt in the middle
tablespoon of oaty cereal + raisins on top

yum!

Concentrate less on thinking you can't do it, and just start!

Even making some meals healtheir, going easy on the snacks and easing yourself back into things.. I'm sure once you get going your motivation will come flooding back to you :)
Foods lying to customers? May 21 2008

Chances are, the syrup was starting to run out.

Those machines have bags of diet coke syrup attached to them.. and a serving of syrup is pumped out and mixed with carbonated water. If the syrup is running low, not enough is being mixed and it tastes like watery coke.

I used t have to go change the syrups at my old place of work.. it was kinda easy to tell when the coke ran out because the colour eventually changed, but when the sprite ran out we only knew when the customers complaned it tasted like fizzy water.

Once, the machine broke and it was just pumping out irn-bru syrup. Maaan oh maaan! that was a good day!!!!

My weightloss has stalled recently, and in a bid to keep hold of my sanity and get things moving again I've promised myself no desserts for two weeks, no mindless snacking, and also to follow a menu that i've printed and stuck to my fridge.

Day three, and I did very well! - and I can happily say that Im all nice and full, and it doesnt look like there will be any snacking before bed time :)

Breakfast: Porridge + honey + skimmed milk

Lunch: Tortilla wrap + coleslaw + quarn slices + lettuce & Side Salad (no dressing)

Dinner: Mexican bean burger + wholemeal roll + chutney + lettuce/tomato/red onion slice & Side Salad (no dressing)

Snacks:
Slice of water melon & small fruit salad (apple/orange/watermelon)

+ plenty of water, and a few cups of tea without milk.

*go me!* :D

".. I ate it. I'll get you another"

Pasta with Tuna + Sweetcorn + olive oil

boiled egg
Slice of watermelon
Fruit Salad (apple/orange/watermelon) + Natural Yoghurt to dip

He's a fussy guy, so hopefully that'll go down well!

Myself, for lunch I had:

Tortilla wrap + coleslaw +  2 quarn slices + lettuce
Side salad no dressing
and a slice of watermelon for a snack later on
Weight Loss Restaurants are lying in a big way May 21 2008

The problem with a lot of places is the staff.

I know from working in a restaurant kitchen that most of the serving sizes are guessed. Salad dressings/oils arent measured out, and it's just quicker to pile on the food than to get out the scales.

It is sad. I guess i've always known to take nutritional values of foods I havent made myself with 'a pinch of salt' so to speak!
Weight Loss Which goal weight date is right? May 20 2008
21:55 (UTC)
2
Both goal dates are unrealistic for a couple of reasons:

1) with an active lifestyle (working out 6 days a week) 1200cals is just not enough. You'll find that your weight loss will stall as your body stores all the foods you eat as fats - search 'starvation mode' in the forums and you'll find a lot of info on that.

2) All that excercise is gonna make you hungry, and 1200 cals worth of food is not gonna satisfy you - sure, it might work for a week, but you'll eventually get so hungry you'll end up overeating on the wrong kinds of food.

I'm not doubting your good intentions or willpower.. just do a little more research :)

Try to aim for a healthy diet with 'a weightloss side effect'. Use the tools here to calculate how many cals to eat a day, but take into consideration the amount of excercise you're doing.

Good Luck!

I loved this book!,

I think as long as you realise that a veg*n 'diet' isnt a weightloss plan (mmm.. vegan cookies + marshmallows!!) and you dont follow the advice blindly.. no harm done!

Its an amusing, informative book.. but it isnt gospel.

justamom, I *love* that marbles idea!! I might have to steal that one for myself :D

marbles are so pretty. Plus, I have a glass bowl thats filled with M&Ms for decoration (they are about 7 months old now, but still looking good!) but damn, some diet days.. they just look so tempting!! So I really should get rid of them before I end up eating sweaty M&Ms.

Now..  where to find 69 marbles!
Foods Do you think this would taste good? May 08 2008
23:51 (UTC)

Yup!

Depending on the apple it tastes like the inside of an apple pie. I usually peel the apple first though, as the skin is a little tough to get through with a spoon once its been microwaved.

I usually just peel and chop the apple, sprinkle it with cinnamon and throw it in the microwave. Brown sugar just feels like unwarranted extra cals!

If you like the warm fruit idea.. another delicious one is halved pears cooked in the oven. If you core them, there's a perfect little space for a square of chocolate. Wrap them in filo pastry and it makes a yummy dessert (esp with ice cream!)
