| Your situation reminds me a lot of mine. My mother treated/s me in a similiar manner, and I ultimately found myself binging regularly on junk for years and then religiously going to the gym in attempt to work it off. I'm an inch shorter than you and my highest weight was 135. Anyhow, after I stopped being around her so much (moving away and what not) I've improved my relationship with food immensely and dropped much of the excess weight...even though I still slip now and then. Anyways, just keep your chin up and try to be aware of what she's doing to you psychologically. All the advice given to you sounds great. I dunno if she'll ever really understand though--my mother still doesn't. As you said, it's just her being the food police with you because she is frustrated with her own failure. |

| I'm in the same situation...except it's not only my mother, it's basically every female member in my family. I'm tired of it and try to handle it by ignoring them--but I admit it still hurts. When I was kid my mom used to tell me that if I don't get tall and skinny (i'm short too btw...lucky me....) like a typical asian girl, then no man would ever love me (I was never overweight growing up...just not typical asian skinny). Anyways, I personally try to ignore it since my cultural upbringing keeps me from ever confronting mother et al. And yea, as antoinette says, just know that there's more to you than just the number on the scale...arguably more important things. |

| It's not that it gets "used to" it...the body just learns to become more efficient. | |||
| Weight Loss | Anyone trying to lose weight for their wedding? I am!! | Mar 06 2007 04:12 (UTC) |

| Seems like everyone is getting married this year! But yes, I too would like to lose some weight before my wedding this June. This site has be very helpful in putting my food consumption in perspective. And I feel very good on the days that I eat right. Still been hard though. I do very well with keeping within the 1500 calories I need to stay in to lose the weight on the days that I'm not hanging out with people, but on days that I go out with my fiance--for instance--it's been very hard to stay on track. It's hard to eat with people who don't have your same goals. Sigh. |
