I completely agree about the fries!! I keep frozen fries in the house so I can bake them but sometimes it's just so much easier to ask for the fries with whatever else you're having. Stupid easiness!!! Lol I would say ok with the challenge but it looks like it's mostly just you and I. As far as other challenges on here...I totally agree with you on that too!!! People are all gung ho the first day and after that...nothing. It's very disappointing. I'm sure that has a lot to do with my doing the 5k races. It brings out the competative side of me and even though the person I'm competing against knows nothing about my slow butt trying to catch up to or stay in sync with them, it still drives me to push myself. In my last race I lost sight of the girl I was trying to keep up with somewhere in the last quarter mile. I couldn't make my legs move faster to try to catch her either. But let me tell you, I sure did try!!! As far as our personal challenge Ash...I'm at 598 minutes for the month so I'm doing ok with being fairly in sync with time. I need to stay focused and maintain my exercise pace for another couple weeks. Yikes!!!

Hey Ash! I'm glad to see you back. I've been doing ok too, like you...not great but not horrible. I did pretty good with exercise on Saturday. That was mainly because a neighbor took Lil'V with their kids to a sprinkler park. Dh and I took total advantage and went for a long, hard bike ride. I hate what weekends do to my eating habits. I cannot believe I have not figured out how to handle that after all this time. Some weekends are better than others but lately they all seem to be filled with too much temptation. When I weighed myself on Friday I was still in the same range...183-184. Only this time it was 184. Argh!! My heart doc's appt is next week Tuesday and I wanted to be in the 170's for that...to show that I was able to at least maintain for the year. Yep, that does NOT look like it's going to happen. I hope he's not as disappointed as I am. |

Yesterday I was a bit sore to exercise. I will have no excuse tonight. Whether or not I'm sore I will do it! Ahh, I'm still contemplating on doing that race this Saturday. I better make up mind soon, it's almost closing time for it!! 7/7/09

Hey Sheila!! My race did NOT go so well. Okay, let me rephrase that...my race went so nicely. I felt like I was speeding along in comparison to previous races. I was sure I'd have a really good finish time. When I got online this morning I checked the race results and it lists me at 39:00 minutes. I was like WTF!?!?!?!? I just knew my time was better than that but you can't really argue with a computer. I am debating on doing another one this coming Saturday in Oak Brook just to prove to myself that this is all a fluke. My reasonings behind my thinking I did better than I did and felt better about my running is that when I do my treadmill workouts I am doing 5mph, with spurts of 6mph-6.2mph, whereas before I was doing 4.5mph with spurts of 5mph and sometimes 6mph. How can I do a slower race when my regular workouts are faster? There weren't any major hills in the race, some incline but nothing that I thought effected my speed and stamina. You know, those inclines you barely notice. Anyway...WHATEVER!!! I'll have to think fast about the Oak Brook race. I haven't heard of the EA. Yes, you'll have to really let me know how that goes. The Fit, I think I maxed most of it out. |

Ooh, I'd love to have an elliptical. My basement ceiling is too low for one. I'd be all over that otherwise!! I've heard of the 30 day shred but I haven't tried it yet. You'll have to tell me how it is. Right now I'm doing my strength training by memory. Yoga and Pilates are very relaxing but I sort of feel corny doing them too. Maybe that's because I haven't run into a good video for them yet? I dunno. So I did a repeat of Monday's workout last night but I added a couple extra things to it, which added about 10 minutes. And today, I'll be walking around like a zombie. No lies!!! I forgot, you asked me for my stats....well, I was lingering in the upper 170's for most of this year but when we went on vacation in June I gained and I'm now at 183-184, it keeps bouncing back and forth. This morning was 183.4 :/ Last year I was really hoping to be in the 50's by now. At this point I'd love to just see the lower 70's!!! 7/1/09

I didn't go to the gym but I did take a ride on my bike to Blockbuster that's a couple miles away. I tried to haul butt...the trip, including going in to exchange a movie, 25 minutes. I don't have a gym membership, I have my treadmill, incumbant bike, and hand weights. And of course I have my regular bike too. I ate 1482 calories, burned 1920 cals...so at least I had a deficit. Tonight I want to get a run in and do weights, planks, and squats afterward. That's what I did on Monday. So...get in your gym clothes, I'll get in mine and we'll haul butt and start off the month on a good note! Kt is around. I'm sure she'll be popping in soon, but she's not usually gone this long. She's not married yet, that's in August. I'm sure she's busy as heck though getting ready that day. That might be why she's been MIA too. |

My two goals for July are so basic, but pretty much what you're planning for yourself. I want to truly log my foods more consistently. When I was doing good for myself I'd log every morsel that passed my lips. Now, I take a taste here, grab a taste there and don't count it and I know it's adding up. Another thing is my drinking, I hardly drank at all the first year doing this and slowly I started introducing it back...well now, it's a regular thing. Lol There's always a party, always a reason. Ya know? Oh, it's been a long week, I'll just have a couple beers. Anyway, my other July goal is to get in 1250 minutes of exercise for the month. I don't have a problem normally, but things just started getting away from me on that too. I started really tracking my exercise minutes on 6/15 through yesterday and I racked up 440 minutes. I can do better! Yep, I'm into races. I love the competition even though it's not really against anyone in particular. I have one on July 4th at 7:30am!! I did that race last year so I figure I'll stick with it. I'm trying to repeat some of races from last year and hopefully see better times in each. Kt has been hardcore into triatholans!! I'm so impressed by her and those accomplishments!! Did you get to the gym last night? Ah, poor baby...I hate when you have to take them for shots and the nurses/doctors tell you to hold them down. It just breaks your heart!! They trust us so much and then we pin them down and torture them. Aww!!! |

Aw!! How is he with his teething? He seems like a pretty calm lil'man. I'm sure that is very helpful with everything! Watch out when he does start crawling, there's no stoppin' them then!!! You sprained your ankle on the rowing machine??? Lol That's kind of funny! Yes, I felt like I was getting into a spiral...an upward one. Oh no!!! I worked out last night and I just booked myself for a race on Saturday. I have to keep up with things if I want to keep racing and getting faster at it. So what are your workout plans for tonight? |

Holy cow mamas!!! Sheila, are you feeling this heat!?!?!? Yesterday hubby's car thermometer said it was 122 in his car!! Today is supposed to be even hotter and just as humid. Why do we have to get extremes!?!?!? And our electricty was knocked out to top it off. STICKY ICKY!!! At least I got my run in before the electricity was gone. But I didn't get my shower done beforehand. Cold shower=YIKES!!!!!!! |

I got my shoes!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy to see them at the house last night!! They felt SOOOOO good. My knee still hurt a little when I finished running but I think that is remnants leftover from last week. Hopefully... I didn't do well for logging my stuff over the weekend but I tried to mostly stuff myself with fruits and veggies over the weekend. I hope that helped make a difference. I am going to try to stay adamant with keeping my produce fully stocked. It's so much easier to eat well when the good for you food is IN YOUR FACE!! Lol Know what I mean? In the meantime...it is going to be in the 90's today with the humidity so high they're saying it'll feel like it's over 100 degrees!!! Tomorrow will be more of the same. I'll have to make sure I bring water with me if I run outside tonight. And some good news for Lil'V....her bball team made it to the playoffs!!! They play their final game of the season Thursday. They're entering the playoffs in first place!! I'm so excited for her and her team. They've worked so hard to get in 1st place. I really hope it sticks for them!! And on another Lil'V note...she's been signed up for summer camp. She starts today. It's for a similar length of time as when she was in school, 9-3pm. Today they're outside swimming. Lucky her!! Hey guys!!! Happy Friday!!! Well, I broke down and ordered those shoes. I only made it 2 miles before my knees were hurting too much to keep going so that pushed me over the edge in my decision. I already got confirmation they've been shipped. I'll go online shortly to see where they are. Woohoo, I'm excited. Cheese Farm?? Is that in Wisconsin? It sounds pretty cool...don't get milk in your eyes!!! What do you all have planned for Dad's Day? I'm going to try to barbecue for Dh, his friend, and my brother. We'll see how that turns out. We'll see if the weather cooperates. Cross those fingers!!! Okay, so today is day 4 (Mon-Thurs) that I've logged my foods, AND posted them in my journal for anyone to see so that I try to keep myself in check. I hope I can continue to do so over the weekend. That's where I have my hardest time. Remembering to log. Taking the time to write stuff down. Drinking!!!! Maybe I should start chewing on straws! |

Woah, that's great that your commute will be cut in half!!! That has got to be exciting!! Yes, I'm looking at getting the exact pair I had before, same make/model...so to speak. Lol I just worry about the security of it all. I really loved those other shoes. They were SOOOOOO comfy!!! It's supposed to rain all darn week...on and off...so I have no real plans. For Father's day we're thinking about going to the movies. I've been teasing dh that Disney was his Birthday/Father's day present all rolled in one. But we do have to do something, it just wouldn't feel right if we didn't. He's been trying to make me feel bad that I didn't go along with his request to let him do the race car driving thing at Disney. They have a real race car and track that you can either...ride shotgun in the racecar with a professional driver and go around the lap 4 times...OR...go through an hour of training and do the 4 laps solo. The first would've cost $125, the second would've cost $425!!! He did NOT want to do the first one. I love my hubby and all but $425 for an hour and maybe a few minutes, that's just crazy!!! He's not going to let me live it down for a while. He's brought it up everyday since. Okay...I did my incumbant bike last night. Tonight's plan is to do a run on the treadmill and then weights. I'll have to get the ice packs ready!!! |

Wippee for you!!!!!!!!!! Is that a much better commute than you've been doing? I hope so!! So I decided to start my cal/deficit tracking on my journal again. I need to do something to get me more focused. And, I was really inspecting my gym shoes that I got a couple months ago and what do you know...they're a full size bigger than they should be. I wear a 8.5 in a regular shoe, a 9.5 in gym shoes...these are a 10.5!!! Ugh, how the hell did I miss that? I knew they felt bigger than the others but I figured it was a different style and all so that was probably why. My knees have been hurting, I've been getting tired faster when I'm running, and even walking around at Disney (I used my gym shoes) was wearing down my knees!! So, I went online to see if I could find the exact brand I had before and since they're "last year's style" I'm finding them on retail sites for less than what I originally bought them for. I'm just a little nervous buying them online...what do you guys think? |

Hey ladies!! I'm baaaack!!!!! We had a total blast. The weather was hot and humid but not as humid as it can get in August, here in Chicago. Thank goodness!! Eh, even if it was I wouldn't have cared. We're going to Disney World!!! We leave tomorrow night. We're driving. So...I'll be MIA from here all of next week and probably won't check in again, (after tomorrow) until Monday the 15th. Good luck on the interview Monday!!! I'll send Mickey wishes your way!! When I get back I'll be going full force with my food logging again. I really need to move on from all this weight garbage!!! Besides, I have a heart doc appt in July and I'm really hoping to show some kind of progress. These darn shows showing people's weight loss affecting their health conditions so much and bringing them off their meds or lowering their meds...it's so misleading!!! Mine has hardly changed all this time!!! Hmph!!! Sometimes I get the feeling my doc is so paranoid about making a mistake by lowering or removing stuff that he's hesitant to do so. |

Happy Friday again!! One more week and I'm on vacation!!! WOOHOO!!! I cannot wait!!!! Yes, I'm screaming a lot. We went to Famous Dave's for dinner yesterday...my pick. Oh boy, I totally forgot how much fat is on rib tips. I spent most of the dinner picking away the fat. Hey, I'm trying, right? It was probably for the best anyway, it took me so long to eat I didn't even eat half of what they served before I was full. Um...which doesn't really say much because they serve a LOT of food. I did make the effort and ate the corn on the cob first at least! Well, Lil'V has back to back ball games tomorrow so that'll take up a lot of the day. I hope they have as much luck as they did the last few games. Oh yeah, Wednesday I did my incumbent bike. I did 2 programs. The first one was a little tough but I still had more in me when I was done so I decided to do a second program. Oh yeah, that second one really worked me!! Yikes!! I'm going to have to try that again. I just hate that the bike workouts don't help me burn as much as the running but I have to keep remembering that I have to vary it up with my cardio. Ugh, why do I have such hard time with variation??? Any new news on the wedding plans Kt? |

No worries, I'm having a hard time getting on here myself. How exciting is that that they'll be bringing your dress in a lot!!! You have to definitely admit now that you've shrunk!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any difference on the weight front? Are you in the 60's yet? You're really kicking but with your bike rides, that's for sure!! I'd be nervous about the half-Ironman but I know you can do it. How much of a difference is it in comparison to other Tri's you've done? How was the course you checked out? Getting the eating under control isn't as hard during the week, it's the weekend that kills it for me. How about you? I haven't tried doing another AM run yet. I have to make a conscious effort to get to bed at least a half hour-45 minutes earlier than usual. I do want to try for more of them though. My dh will be so jealous of you when I tell him about your new phone. He wants me to get that for him for Christmas. Lol |

Ha, I found the downfall of exercising that early. Even though I had a cup of chocolate milk immediately after my run...about 150 more cals than I usually take in, I had my oatmeal, a banana, my lunch sandwich, an orange and well, by the time 3pm rolled around I was starving as heck. My stomach was getting loud and obnoxious!!! I got to lil'V's baseball game directly after work, mentioned to Dh how hungry I was; he bought me a hot dog. Great. I scoured that thing down like there was no tomorrow. Then I got home, cracked open a beer and downed a bunch of tortilla chips. ARGH!!! There goes another day down the drain of watching my intake. I don't blame him, I'm just so mad at myself for not containing myself. The chocolate milk supposedly helps curb your appetite and replenishes your nutrients. Yeah, right. Whoever thought that up and swears by it must never have met me!! I do have to admit the chocolate milk did taste good. Lol I'll never lose any more weight if I don't get myself under control with everything. I'm so aggravated with trying and not seeing crap as far as results. I just want to throw my hands up and say what's the f-n point!?!?!?! Whew...I had to get that out. I can relate lately with boss' from hell. I think there must've been a damn seminar that all attended...it was called "How to drive your employees up the wall, har har har har" I hear they even passed out brooms and warts!!! I wouldn't wait until you have time to enjoy it. You'll never have that. Once you get there and get through it you'll likely find you enjoyed it, whether you felt you had time for it or not. |

That sounds like a good idea Sheila...to see how the first, free session goes. Watch out though, from what I understand they get very salesperson-like. I haven't watched that show. I'm terrible with cookbooks....um, actually using them. I have more patience for cookbooks in the winter though...you know, since it takes longer to make something from a cookbook it helps warm up the house so I get double the benefit. I took a run last night when I got home since Lil'V had friends over. Then...while I kept DH company as he watched wrestling, I did some weights. Kt...how's it going lady??? |

HOLY COW LADIES!!!!!! Lil'V had 2, almost back to back games yesterday. The second started about 2 hours after the first game ended. Anyway....Her team won both games AND!!!! AND!!! Lil'V was awarded the game ball in the first game!!! WOOOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going down to the mall at lunch today to buy her a display/trophy case for the ball. I've been having a hard time getting her to realize how important it is she practice and how much her team needs her to try her best. Well, she sees now!! As she was falling asleep she told me she wants to practice with me and the neighbor girl (the one I run with) tonight. Sheila...I'll just say this as far as the personal traner...I so wish I could go that route. I think it'd be a huge benefit. If you can afford only 1 session a week that's enough to get you started, no? Kt has much more experience with that though. Trailers for vacation!?!? I'd so love to do something like that one of these days!!! |

Unfortunately my grocery trip didn't include a whole lot of stuff for me. The only fruit/veggie I picked up was oranges. It sounds like you'll have to work out your workouts around his "at home" schedule so you're there when he's there. That can be hard. I've been waiting on my dh to give me the same type of speech. I'm sure it'll come once I'm working out outside more. You're aiming to do a half Ironman!?!?!?! How cool is that!!! And I'm sitting here contemplating doing a 10k before the end of race season. Pft...small potatoes by comparison!!! You go GIRL!!! I didn't get to do an official workout last night myself. We took Lil'V to the local forest preserve to practice solo. Yes, there was a bunch of running on my part but nowhere near what I need for it to be considered a workout (to me). Hubby and Lil'V were wiped out though. |

Practice yesterday was rained out. We went and picked up a few groceries instead but didn't make a full blown trip. We definitely have to do that sometime this weekend. We are completely out of all and any fruits. We have no snacks or juice pouches for Lil'V's friends for when they come over. Kids are ALWAYS hungry!!! And I'm out of my newest favorite snack...edaname. How did you rest day go Kt? Did you actually rest?? I know you have a hard time staying down like that. How many days til the wedding now? |

Hey, it's nice to see you two back! I know how it is to be too busy to get on here, no worries. Sheila, that is a crazy drive!! And a crazy time to have to wake up!!! I feel for you, that's for sure. How long do you have to be at that place? Did you get out to enjoy the weather last night? It got pretty cold after a while. I hope you were already in by then. Kt, WOW!!! A 43 mile ride!?!?!? And you swam the next day?? It's no wonder your body is tired as heck. Enjoy your rest day today. I've been fighting with myself to get back on being good in the food front too. Once you fall off that wagon, it's so hard to get back on full force...for me anyway. When I'm being good, I'm really good, but when I'm off it takes forever to get me back on. I do still run with the neighbor girl but not as often as I'd (or she'd) like. Between all this rain, on & off cold weather, and baseball...I'm not finding enough time to fit it all in. I haven't gone grocery shopping in 2 weeks now!! I'm going to try to get a ride done tonight on the incumbent bike since it'll be raining/storming all day today. |
