Weight Loss i hate myslef!!! its only 11!! Apr 12 2008

Don't hate yourself!  Some days I look back at what I ate and wonder what I'd been thinking!  Sometimes things are just too delicious to pass up... for example, I just ate a piece of cake for lunch.  (Oops!)  I definitely don't regret it, but I know I'll have to resist having another piece for an afternoon snack!

Just remind yourself to be good for the rest of the day; that's what I plan on doing.

Take care!

Weight Loss Doeas your husband/boyfriend encourage you? Apr 11 2008

Your husband sounds EXACTLY like my boyfriend.  In fact, he made fun of me when I started counting calories and logging exercise!  If I picked up and item at the grocery store, he'd mock me, saying, "Are you sure you can eat that?"  He'd say the same thing if I decided to have dessert or an extra slice of pizza.

I think he's starting to appreciate my efforts now... especially now that he's noticing his own weight gain.  It hasn't been much, but he's been about 135 lbs most of his life and now that he's actually filling out... well, it's bothering him.  However, he refuses to exercise or change his eating habits!

Just remember that you're getting and staying fit for your OWN benefit.  It's nice when our S/O appreciates our weight loss / fitness efforts, but don't let it become the reason for your gym visits.  (I need to remind myself of this from time to time!)

Keep up the good work!!!!

Typically, I gain about 3-5 lbs.  This past month I gained almost 8.  It SUCKED.  None of my clothes fit... I just wanted to stay in my PJ's all day!

Congrats!  Fitting into a smaller size is always a great feeling.

I think there are plenty of guys who look good in women's jeans.  I once had a friend (oddly enough, also named Seth!) who looked better in girls jeans than I did!

Weight Loss what do YOU add to your activity log? Mar 19 2008
04:33 (UTC)

Like everyone else, I set my activity level and log my workouts.  I usually log my time at work, too.  Although I have what people would consider a "desk job," I move constantly.  I'm a ward clerk at the local hospital, and there's a lot of sitting, but there's also a lot of standing, walking, lifting 5 - 10 lb. objects, bending, twisting (you would be surprised!) Some days, I can't believe how quickly I need to move to get things done!

My shift is 12 hours long, so I try to move as much as possible!

Weight Loss i gained 3 lbs! ;( Mar 18 2008

The same thing happens to me from time to time! Sometimes I over-eat or eat fatty, salty foods on the weekend resulting in a "gain" of a couple pounds. I have to tell myself that it isn't a real gain, and that it'll be gone in a day or two. Some foods can take days and days to pass through your system, especially the foods I ate over this past weekend! (Pizza, a buffalo burger with fries... you get the picture.)

Like santonacci said, I drink more water and hit the gym. I also do some pilates moves bed.

I would think that it might be PART of the sedentary burn, like you said.  I have no idea how that would work, though!

I kinda wish I burned 700 calories at work!  That would mean I could eat a little more!

Calorie Count Calorie coach? Mar 13 2008

I'd actually like to get rid of the calorie coach.  I don't want to see it.  Even though I'm maintaining a consistent calorie deficit (typically 300 - 500 calories per day), it keeps pushing my goal date back by one day.  It originally said I'd reach my goal on May 24th, now it says June 2nd!  My goal date is actually July 1, but to see that day being pushed back farther and farther is getting me down.  It isn't a big deal, really!  I'm healthy, and I enjoy exercise!

Fitness Wii Boxing ....Anyone? Mar 11 2008

I would definitely count the Wii boxing game as exercise!  My boyfriend and I have a Wii, and I break a pretty mean sweat when I "box."  Try the training session where you have to knock the punching bags down... You'll start feeling it in your abs, too!

Health & Support How soon before your period do you have water weight gain? Mar 06 2008

I'm sure it's just the jeans!  I wear anything from a ladies' 4 to a juniors' 7.  I went clothes shopping just yesterday, grabbed two cuts of the same brand; one fit wonderfully, the other I couldn't even get over my bum!  I try to avoid buying clothes around that time of the month... I know I'll just feel worse.  (Cramps, bloating, AND my favorite clothes don't fit?  Ick.)

This will sound unlikely, but it's true for me... (Anyone else with this problem?)

I start to bloat almost an entire week before my period starts.  Just a little tiny bit at first, then it slowly builds until I look pregnant.  I even stand like a pregnant woman; hands on the small of my back with my belly thrust out... the skin my abdomen gets so tight, I can flick it and get a sound like hitting an uncut gourd!  Even my hips, thighs, and ankles bloat!  Unfortunately, the bloating doesn't go away until my period is almost completely over.  My GYN is treating me for endometriosis with oral contraceptives and an anti-inflammatory, but they're not really doing the trick as far as my symptoms are concerned.  I'm going to talk to her about the possibility of checking for fibroids...

Weight Loss I hate Girl Scout cookies! Mar 06 2008

I actually bought 16 boxes this year - two of each variety!  I usually save the shortbread cookies for myself (120 cals for 4 cookies... they go great with pekoe tea!) and give away the rest as "gifts" before I can eat them.  I can usually count on my little brother to eat what I can't get rid of.

I love Girl Scout cookies, and I will indulge from time to time... I just make sure it isn't ALL the time.  ^_^  And, (I know it really doesn't work this way) but I'll put in a little extra gym time if I eat one too many... it alleviates a bit of the cookie guilt.

Weight Loss What size then and now? Mar 03 2008
21:55 (UTC)

I'm 5'3" and 25 years old; no kids...

At 136 lbs I was a size 8/9/10 depending on cut and brand.  At 117 lbs, I'm a 4/5/6 depending on cut and brand.  (I've got a wide bum...)  Sometimes, I still need to go up to a junior's 7...  I swear, some stores change their sizes from season to season!  I'm usually alright if I grab a 5/6.

Oh, I suppose I should put down what I've eaten so far today...

Breakfast:  1 Anjou pear with a 10 oz skim milk

Snack: South Beach Cereal Bar, black coffee

Lunch:  Granny Smith Apple, Teriyaki beef stick (only 60 cals!)

Snack: 8oz of mixed fruit: pineapple, raspberries, blueberries, honeydew, musk melon, and watermelon and another South Beach cereal bar

For dinner I plan on eating a South Beach wrap kit, and maybe some more veggies later on.

I tend to do most of my eating at night because I'm up so late (2 or 3 a.m.) so I try to eat light during the day.

I would like to join this group!

I'm a 25 year old college student / hospital secretary; 5'3" and currently about 118 lbs.  (I tend to flucuate between 117 and 120.)  I've lost about 20 lbs over the last year, and would like to maintain my current weight and tone up.  Since I stopped actively dieting, I've noticed that I haven't been eating well...  I've been more likely to give into my late-night McDonald's cravings and less likely to snack on fruits and veggies.  Luckily, I haven't gained!  Before that happens, I'd like to dicipline myself to stay within a set calorie range.  Normally, I'm very, very active (I was running about 20 miles a week, plus weight training and eliptical conditioning), but I've been side-lined by illness and surgery.  I suspect that some of my snacking is from boredom and depression...  Until I can get back to my normal activity level, I want to stick to a diet!
Weight Loss Bloating... Feb 11 2008

Drinking water can help, so you've got the right idea there...

What kinds of food are you eating?  If you're eating foods that are very salty, you'll retain more water.  But if you're eating lots of veggies, could you be reacting to the fiber?  I know that when I eat a lot of vegetables, I tend to get a little bloated myself!

Weight Loss weight gain?! (for ladies) Nov 06 2007

I would bloat horribly around my period, gaining 3-5 pounds each time.  (It would go away, thank God.)  Instead of taking Midol or Pamprin, I use Motrin and the caffeine free Diurex.  In fact, I swear by that combination.

I've always been told that exercize during your period help alleviate cramps... I've got some ovarian cyst issues, so it only makes my cramps worse.  I usually try to suck it up and stay as active as possible!

Is it too late to sign up for this challenge?

I don't really want to lose a full 10 lbs by Christmas (I think 5lbs would be more realistic), but I seem to be more faithful to my diet when I'm part of these challenges...

I've gained a few pounds this semester and I want to put a stop to it now, before the holidays come 'round!

My current weight is 119.7 lbs, and I'm 5'2".  I'm just trying to stay active and healthy!
