| The analysis says I average 20 grams of fiber per day.
I would assume it is higher than that since I usually only log breakfast and lunch, i've been too busy at night or without internet. I also don't log my celery I can never remeber to weight it in the morning and figure the few calories in it are used up in chewing. As for the one meal in, one meal out. I didn't mean lunch goes in, breakfast goes out. More like the day before yesterdays dinner goes out. Yikes! Kinda gross when you think about it. |

| Weight Loss | FYI - Info on eating back calories | Apr 20 2007 18:14 (UTC) |

| My nutritionist said the same thing. The only time I need to eat back any calories burned is when my net for the day is less than 1200 cals. I am going to try that and see if it works. | |||
| Weight Loss | im kinda scared... | Apr 20 2007 01:57 (UTC) |

| You need a net caloric intake of 1200 atleast.
The easiest way to figure it out is 1200+ however many calories you burned during your exercise. Example 30 min treadmill - say 300 cals 20 weight lifting - say 150 cals you should eat 1200+300+150= 1650 This will vary depending on how much you exercise each day. |

| The is also the school of thought that the simple act of chewing the gum burns off the calories in it. Even if you only burn 1 calorie per minute chewing, in five minutes you have burned off all the calories. | |||

| Its ok... I am a math person too...
I'll use me as an example... My nutritionist said to consume 1715 cals per day. She also wants me to work up to exercising 60-90 min per day. Here's where the math comes in... Ate 1645 cals... exercised on treadmill for one hour burned 634 cals. 1645-634 =1011 1011<1200 so I should eat back atleast 189 cals so that my net caloric intake (calories consumed after exercise has been subtracted) does not go below 1200 cals a day. Does this help? |

| I am totally feeling your pain. About a year ago my sister and brother in law and I did Atkins for 3 months or so. When we started Atkins I weighed 325. I lost 35lbs which was good but had to stop Atkins cause it is a pretty exspensive diet and we were broke.
For some reason, I still thought I weighed 295, until a friend and I decided we wanted to be thin and hot for the next P-Con (a convention that happens in Feb of each year). When I got on the scale it was a very rude 305.6. Bleh! So we are very close. Nearly twins. I am 5'10 as well and currently 289.2, a loss of 16.4lbs since 2/27/2007. 1/3 of a lb a day *grin* I am hoping I will keep that up, cause then I will hit my goal of 180lbs by my 28th bday (5/9/2008). I would love to have someone in the same boat to exchange info and motovation tips with! |

| The protein amount is for the general population... Of course anybody with special needs doesn't fit into the general info. That amount of protein is what the body needs for average wear and tear. If you are building a lot of muscle or have a health condidtion you may need more or less. Carol - going with the math and the info you provided 1700cal a day - 720 from carbs &nb sp; &nb sp; 379 from protein &nb sp; &nb sp; 601 from fatfat That is a lot of fat - To make you diet less fat heavy I did the math and am giving the following suggestions. Your carbs max out at 42% (180grams) and with 25% fat that leaves you with 33% protein which equals 138grams of protein a day which is about 5oz. Isn't math fun?! *grin* |

| Curious...
You should always eat back enough calories to have a net caloric intake of at least 1200... Example: You ate 1500 cals but exercised 500 worth. 1500-500= 1000 You would need to eat at least another 200. Anything after than would be up to you. If you felt hungery and wanted to eat back the entire 500, go for it! You would still be maintaining your deficit and would be healthy doing it. But do not go under 1200, as you will end up defeating your weight loss goals as your body struggles to hold on to everything it can. |

| My pardon if I didn't make it clear... She didn't ask me to start off with 60-90min. That was the goal. On average during work I walk approx 7000 steps. The start off goal was to go to 10,000 steps, which is equivalent to 20min biking or walking. She wanted me to increase until I was at 60-90 min of contineous exercise.
Currently I am doing 30 min of cardio and 20 min of weight training in the evenings 4 times a week. I am going to try and add in another 30 min in the morning 4 times a week. The move up from there... |

| Congrats you two!!
Sometimes it helps me to think in terms of percentages when I am begining to feel like the weight is not coming off fast enough. Same with physical comparisons. Yesterday I tried carrying three five pound bags of potatoes. It was a hassle and made my arms tired. Then I thought, this is what I have just lost... No wonder my body is always so tired!! |

| Weight Loss | Healthy Fats | Apr 18 2007 17:44 (UTC) |
|
| My nutritionist suggested:
Avocados Veg oils - olive, corn, peanut etc Olives Nuts - Any kind (the amount you can put in your palm and close your hand around Peanut butter Not butter or margerine as they do not contain any/very much of the healthy fats our bodys need. You can still use them but dont count them towards the 4-6 servings of healthy fats needed daily. |

Jen... 3oz of protein at a time. The formula for daily protein is 0.8grams for every kg of weight. 1kg = 2.2 (rounded). So me (291) needs 105 grams of protein.
I would assume this information is true for anyone wanting to lose wight but that is all it is.... an assumption. She said to make sure to eat at least a net of 1200cals but that we did not need to eat back all of the calories burned during exercise. I have stated this as information for people with a lot of weight to lose so as not to give inncorrect information. There is a big difference between 120lbs to lose and 20lbs to lose. I would not want to be responsible for somone making unhealthy choices do to my information. |

| Usually they are located next to all of the other full fat varieties of cupcakes. I had trouble finding them the first time. I thought they would be with all the other 100cal packs.
Make sure to get the coupon. I printed out tons of copies and even give them away at the grocery store. In my area they are often on sale 2 for $5, with the coupon they are just $1.50. $0.25 a pack, I can handle that.... *grin* |

| Christins... I applaud your saying "no" to the gallbladder surgery. I had mine taken out three years ago.
I had been dealing with the effects for awhile (you know what I mean, being on the floor and all) but got really sick when a gallstone blocked my pancreas. The doctors told me they had to remove my gallbladder and since my mom had the same thing done at about the same age, I went ahead and let them do it. Second worse decision of my life. The positive effects of the surgery barely outweighed the negative and that was when I was eating fast food almost daily. What the doctors don't tell you before the surgery is that the function of the gallbladder (regulation of bile) can?t be stopped completely. You still need bile added to your stomach. Instead they create a shunt that drips bile into your stomach at a slow but steady rate instead of when it was needed (controlled by the gallbladder). Long story short, if you don?t eat on a regular basis the bile builds up in your stomach and the next time you eat something it?s like your stomach goes haywire. For me and the people I know who have had the surgery, if we go more than 4-6 hours between meals, within an hour of eating we have terrible stomach cramps and diarrhea that can last for an hour or two. Moral of the story: If you can treat your gallbladder problem without surgery, Do it! Your body might not thank you for it but at it wont be cursing at you. *grin* |

| Virtual model is very limited. The differance between 250 and 350 is barely visible and you cant change how the "body"'s fat is positioned. I wish some one could create a program that was a little more modifiable. | |||

I can hear it fine (its loud) and I have to actually get out of bed and walk to turn it off. I am less likely to get back in bed after I have been vertical for several feet. *grin* | |||
