| I use carmel, irish cream and chocolate.
I too like to put the chocolate in my oatmeal...carmel and irish cream are wonderfull in a cappuccino, the carmel and chocolate can be mixed into plain yogurt, I also like to put milk and chocolate in a blender and mix together for a frothy chocolate milk like drink. You can also make itallian sodas with club soda and optional milk. (When you use milk irish cream makes a good one!) I used them when baking before as well...only I can't remember what I was baking... |

| Weight Loss | Exhausted!! Help. | Sep 19 2007 03:33 (UTC) |

| First off, I agree with augette, I was feeling consistently fatigued about a month ago and I decided to start taking a multivitamin (with iron) even though I was skeptical, but I must say that it helped. Your diet seems to be vegetarian, or almost vegetarian, so you have to be consious of your protien intake. I'm a vegetarian and I know that I don't feel so good when my protien levels get lower. I don't really recoment protien bars because most of them are so high in calories. I try to incorporate more things like tofu, beans, and nuts into my diet to add more protien. Since you are obviously worried about calories, tofu is relativly low. Because I'm a snacker, things like dry roasted edamame are great for the protien, and they are also pretty low calorie. Your diet also seems to be lacking in iron sources, so either take a multivitamin/iron suppliment, or adding more iron-rich foods might help. I also try to eat more often, as that helps maintain a constant blood-sugar level. I don't really eat big meals, but have something little every 2 hours or so. This means that I don't get hungry, and my blood sugar level is maintained. Since I seem to be going on and on... I'm not a fan of hard/fast none of this or that. Don't completely cut out foods you like. If eating eggs or meat is important for you, limit the amounts, don't cut them out. You may feel better, and maintain longer. |

| Weight Loss | I'm stuffed but still undereating my daily calories | Sep 17 2007 04:54 (UTC) |

| I've got the same problem as you. I'm also a vegetarian, only eat non-processed, local foods. I usually end up eating 400-600 calories a day, but I always get enough to eat. I know that once I hit 800 I start gaining weight. I think it is possible that you just have a slow metabolism, which is what my doctor told me. That if you feel fine, aren't hungry or weak, have pleanty of energy, etc... that it is probably alright. Some people just naturally need less then others (which is something generalized computer programs don't account for). I understand your frustration. I find that the amount of exercise that I get is key. I also know that (obviously) my BMR is lower then the calculation, as well as the calories burned from exersize. Such is probably the case with you as well. You may not really be undereating as much as a computer says you are. I'm a big advocate of listening to ones body, and never think that it is a good idea to eat more then your body tells you that you need. |

| technically women should never eat fewer then 1200/day. Then again I eat less than you, so I can't talk. (but my doctor also told me it was alright....) | |||
| Weight Loss | That time of the month sure makes it hard to stick to your diet!!! | Sep 17 2007 04:41 (UTC) |

| That is the ONLY time that I feel hungry. I normally eat very little, and am still never hungry. But the week before, goodness gracious, I just want to eat everything I see! It's horrible, and then you have no energy to put into workouts on top of that...ick, I sympathize. | |||

| Fitness | When do you guys run? | Sep 14 2007 22:37 (UTC) |
|
| I am a student as well, so I understand the frustration, on days where I know I'm pressed for time I get up earlier and run first thing in the morning (for me this is the best place to squeeze in time), since I like to work out twice a day I'll also run when I get home, no matter how tired I am. You can also do some excersizes and study at the same time. Many floor/resistance exersizes can be done this way, and some weight stuff... | |||

| Revolution3, I appreciate the concern however, I eat when I'm hungry and when I'm not I don't. I've had the same excersize routine for 2 years, but the calorie drop (from 1200) is more recent (about a month and a half) because I was gaining weight, and fat weight not muscle. My doctor told me that it was extreme, but probably alright as long as I look vitamins and paid attention to how I felt, making sure I wasn't getting hungry or weak etc... and generally I don't. | |||

| All I can tell you is that I feel the same way. I love to dance, but things like running and other stuff make me feel horrid. I just keep pushing through cause I want to loose the weight. I don't think that experiancing that is so strange. If working out felt so good, more people would do it ;-) | |||
| Fitness | Over Train? | Sep 14 2007 21:44 (UTC) |

| I run twice a day, for an hour, and dance 2-5 hours a day. I've never suffered any ill effects...although I will tell you it is exhasting, and sometimes I can feel pretty weak, I've never noticed any irritability though. And I probably just feel weak because I don't eat that much. | |||

| I've never been satisfied...I've lost 95 lbs and I never feel it really. What I do do when I need that satisfaction is go put on a dress that I wore at me peak, and just let it fall off, that makes me satisfied.... | |||
| Weight Loss | College Students | Sep 14 2007 16:26 (UTC) |

| I'm a senior at UCSB, studying theatre, dance, and music. I gained a lot of weight in high school and then because I was at home my first year of college I was able to loose a lot of it, then when my second (junior) year I moved away, finally got to experiance those frosh 15. During this summer I've lost those 15 but I'm still not where I would want to be.
Age: 20 Height: 5'7" small build Started at 240 lbs senior in high school Currently 145 Lbs Goal of 125 When I'm going to go back to school, I'll be eating dorm food again :-P which is all high calorie and high fat etc... I might start living on oatmeal lol (The only cooking material I have is a water boiler!) I already have a physically active job, dance 4 hours a day and run 2 so I cannot really increase my excersize routine to compensate, there just isn't time in the day. Right now I'm just going to think positive and hope that I can stay on track. |

| To put it bluntly, I used to be obese. I no longer am (I'm a size 4-6), but that 240 lbs person is still the person that I see in the mirror. It helps me to remind myself of the average measures, size, weight of an American woman ( 36C-34-42 I believe) , so even if I don't see myself a certain way, I know I am. Also I figured out at one point the clothing sizes of the people around me so I could see where I fit and had an idea of what I looked like, even if I didn't 'see' it. | |||

| Oh I can relate....not to mention that I'm a dancer and they make me look akward. What I did was start my excersise routine by walking, a lot and at a fast pace, when I had lost enough weight to start running (the girls were, and are, still large). I just make sure I've got the best bra around, they still move, but such is inevitable. As akward as it sounds I found it helpfull to wear a regular bra with a sports bra over it, it helps, and more then two sports bras. You could also try activities with less bounce potention like swimming, bike riding, etc... just don't take up ballet ;-) trust me. |

| Their calculation doesn't allow for individual variations in metabolism. Unless the point is to gain weight, I wouldn't eat more then what your body tells you you need. | |||
| Weight Loss | teens: how many calories do you eat? | Sep 14 2007 04:56 (UTC) |

| I just turned 20...not a teen I guess, but I'm 5'7" 145 lbs, I eat between 500-800 calories a day (Without starving!), and excersize off about 1400 (theaoretically that is, I have a very efficient metabolism and since I don't loose weight with this sceme, It really must be less. I dance for 4 hours a day and run/walk for two.) | |||
| Weight Loss | Only 250 cal for dinner? | Sep 14 2007 04:50 (UTC) |

| I never eat more then that per meal, here are some of my favorites I combine in whatever combination suits my mood (I'm a vegetarian though, so I can't really speak to meat dishes):
Hard boiled egg ~78 calories Boiled edamame ~ 100 per half cup (I find these to be filling) Instant Oatmeal (not everyones cup of tea) ~ 70-140 depending on type cherry tomatos ~ 31 calories per cup (so you can eat a lot of them!) Fried Tofu ~ 77 calories per ounce (or really tofu in general) Most veggies are low calorie Maybe you could make a tofu and veggie stirfry if you really want a dish... |
