| Health & Support | Why Does This Happen? | Nov 03 2009 15:35 (UTC) |

Eggs always make me want to eat something sweet! Another food is oatmeal. I could eat everything in sight. I recently found out that I am allergic to eggs and wheat. Now that I eat egg free, I don't binge after breakfast. I also found out that oatmeal is usually contaminated with wheat. I can eat gluten free oats and they don't bother me. It is a hard battle when food fights your body. Good luck! |

Kissy: You may have a bowel or underlying medical problem that is making you constipated and slowing your weight loss. From what I have heard: when the waste sits around too much, it seems to absorb back into the body causing everything to slow down. I had the same problem last summer at 47. I actually gained back everything I lost =20 pounds, and now I am struggling to lose it again. I went to my doctor, had a colonoscopy to make sure everything was okay. I too took a lot of Miralax (yuk). Everything checked out okay, but I do suffer from IBS and my diet change made it act up. I hope this helps. When in doubt see a professional. You can never be too careful with your health. BTW: I had to put carbs back into my diet and that has seemed to help. Peas, avacado, and corn have a ton of fiber and I hadn't been eating them. |

| Recipes | Sick :( and soup ideas would be great! | Mar 25 2009 17:30 (UTC) |

I love to make soups and make them quite often. I have a ton of recipes, but sometimes, I just put in it what I am craving. I always always use stock, not broth. There are some great stocks out there and vegetable is one of my favorites. To make a base for any soup use onions and garlic. Celery is good if you have it on hand. I also put carrots in my base. Use a tablespoon or more of olive oil and cook the veggies until they become somewhat transparent. Then great things to add are summer squash, fresh tomoatoes, mushrooms, potatoes, beans (small white ones that are canned are great) and spinach at the very end. Unless you want like a chicken soup then use chicken broth and some noodles...yum. I hope you feel better soon. |

I am 48 and IT has begun! I struggle to lose, even more than just last year. I have gain all in my stomach area, gained everything that l worked so hard to lose and it was very a quick gain. I have begun to have bouts of hot flashes. Not all the time, but there was a week right after Christmas when it was 40 below here and I wanted to bury myself in a snowbank, naked! I went to see my GYN and she did an HCG (I think) test, but it showed nothing. I have to go back in a couple of months and have my levels tested again. Good luck to you. And please if anyone can share how they were able to lose weight while going through this, please share your stories!

http://www.sunjournal.com/story/296021-3/Lewi stonAuburn/Cops_arrest_man_on_sexual_assault_ charge/ This story is about a 17 year old that was attacked in a bathroom. I try to find a unisex bathroom for my son. He is autistic and way too nice to strangers. If there isn't one, I allow him to use the lady's room. |

You quit smoking! Congratulations! When I quit smoking, I had the same problem. It was like something had been shut off in my brain. When I smoked, I would feel done with my meal because I began craving a cigarette. Then when I stopped smoking and got over the craving, there was nothing there to tell me to stop eating. It was really strange and it took me a long time to start feeling full again. I should probably add that I quit smoking after 18 years and I went cold turkey. I used no meds to aid the transistion . |

Original Post by another_girl: You might have someone in the medical profession look into your low iron. Low iron might cause your weight loss and it may also present itself in your symptoms of depression. You may or could also have a gland problem. Best to get a second opinion and get a full blood work up. Good luck. |

Original Post by ilovedietcoke: I had to have the same tests performed a few years ago for the same reason. They found a polyp and within a few weeks, I had it removed and everything was fine. I hope that everything will be fine for you as well. The tech did measure and mark it and I was in there for quite a while. Good luck to you! |

I looked at the recipe and wasn't sure how the sweetened condensed milk would be unheated or uncooked, so I searched sites that I trust for recipes. I found it on Food Network. I've never used a Food Network recipe that didn't turn out wonderful, so I would trust it. I'm thinking that the pie that didn't set, may have used evaporated milk by mistake instead of sweetened condensed milk. Hope that helps :) |

VEGETABLE COBBLER
1 butternut squash (2 pounds) peeled and cut into ½-inch pieces (I use buttercup) 1-pound red potatoes cut into ½-inch wedges 3 medium parsnips, peeled and cut into ½ inch pieces (I use Carrots) 1 red onion cut into ½ inch wedges 3 tablespoons olive oil 1-teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon dried tarragon 14 ½ ounces of vegetable broth (or reduced sodium chicken broth) (I use stock not broth) 2 cups fresh broccoli florets ½ teaspoon grated lemon peel (I use lemon juice) 4 teaspoons cornstarch ½-cup milk
Topping 1-cup milk 1 ¾-cup biscuit baking mix ½ cup yellow cornmeal Dash cayenne pepper
Directions
Place the squash, potatoes, parsnips and onion in a shallow 3-quart baking dish. Combine the oil salt and tarragon and drizzle over the vegetables. Toss to coat. Bake uncovered at 375º for 1 hour or until tender, stirring once.
Meanwhile in a large saucepan, bring broth to boil. Add broccoli and lemon peel. Reduce heat, cover and cook for 2 minutes or until the broccoli is crisp-tender.
In a small bowl combine cornstarch and ½ cup milk until smooth. Add to broccoli, bring to boil and cook and stir for 2 minutes until thickened. Add to roasted vegetables and stir to combine.
Topping In a bowl, combine the baking mix, cornmeal, cayenne and milk until smooth. Drop batter in 12 mounds over hot vegetables. Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Nutrition Serves 12, 1-cup serving size. 1 cup prepared with reduced sodium broth and reduced fat baking mix equal 205 calories. It has 6g of fat, 4 mg cholesterol, 514 mg sodium, 34 g carbohydrate, 4 g fiber, 5 g protein. Diabetic Exchanges 2 starch, 1 fat. This is one of my favorite recipes and it doesn't need the biscuit topping. It is delicious without it.
Last night I made a recipe that I saw on the CBS Early Show. It was fettucini with squash and cauliflower, it was awesome.

Retrovert, I think your diagnosis is the correct one, unfortunately. The doctor had prescribed an acne cream, but it is not working. Thanks to everyone for the responses. Reading wikipedia hit home, it is embarrassing and most people go undiagnosed because they are too embarrassed to tell their doctor. Thanks again everyone. |

My parents weren't present to my wedding and it broke their hearts...only because I think they would have stood up when the preacher said "If anyone objects..." Did I say stood...they would have jumped to their feet... I did have a small outdoor reception in the following weeks and that worked well for everyone. BTW Good luck and congratulations.

| Health & Support | Colon cleansing? | Aug 19 2008 18:41 (UTC) |

Original Post by kthompson92: If you feel that your colon is unhealthy, may I suggest testing. One test involves swallowing markers and you have a series of x-rays to follow their progress. That tells you how fast food actually travels through your system. You could also have a colonoscopy done and before you have it, "they" give you a prescription bowel cleanse. Just a note, my friend works for a Gastorenterolgy group and they do not believe it is healthy to do regular cleanses.
