I just had to pop in and brag.

Today's the first day in a week I have gotten through the whole day counting everything I ate and not eating anything I'm ashamed of.  I resisted all the temptations when my mom offered me a slice of cake and my brother offered me McDonald's and I think I'm finally mentally in a place where I can stick to a diet.

The only problem I've had today is getting ENOUGH calories into me!  Imagine!

JK I'm so glad you're here.  You sound like exactly the kind of person that could gain everything there is to be gained from an online community.

I'm pretty new here myself and still trying to get into the habit of coming around more often.  I hope they get that group page set up soon so maybe we could have an easier-to-follow format but I'm not going to let that get in the way of me coming here.

My biggest motivation lately has been my nutrition class (nursing student).  It's been really interesting to learn just how many healing properties vegetables and fibers and unsaturated fats have.  I'm trying to imagine my body as being sick and I have to heal it bit by bit.  When I feel hungry or get cravings I tell myself that it hurts when things are coming back to life.  I slipped up and ate an Arby's sandwich today when I went out to lunch with my brother (my weakness is impulsive social eating), but for the most part my diet has gotten 100% healthier.  I don't eat most packaged foods anymore and I eat tons of vegetables.  I've also replaced bread with WASA which I highly highly recommend.  We'll see how much of a difference it's all making when I weigh myself after my time of the month.  I never weigh myself from 9 days before it starts until 2 days after.  Nothing ever looks right when I do, lol.

Hi, Kedi!

I'm still trying to find my way around, too.  I officially joined the site back in March or something but visited it probably three times before just recently.  I need something to keep me motivated through the weekends! My achilles heel!

I have around 90 pounds to lose myself.  I weigh approximately 260, but I'm also 5'10" and very large boned (I have hands bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger No Joke! I checked at a Planet Hollywood!), so I'd be pretty thin at 170!

Thanks.  I actually woke up this morning a half a pound lighter so I guess my salads-only rest of the day and my long walk took care of the pizza.  Thank goodness!

That's a good idea, to have a cheat time or day.  Saturday mornings seem to be hardest for me.  My husband, when he's not on a business trip, always wants Ihop on Saturday mornings.  My brother always gets something horrible for breakfast.  Saturday night we always go out somewhere to eat but it's easier because we always go somewhere with really fantastic Caesar salads.

AUGH.  My brother bought pizza today.  It was a medium and I only had four pieces (a vast improvement over my previous pizza habits) but I still feel horribly guilty.  Okay, just water, fruits, and salad the rest of the day.  That oughta make up for it, right?

:(

Oooh.  Good for you with the coffee cake.

My good doobie act of the day was this:

Fridays I always get fast food for me and my son.  I have always avoided the double quarter pounders and large fries and all that, but today I took it an extra step and ONLY got the grilled chicken sandwich with ONLY a fruit and yogurt parfait.  No french fries, no dessert, and no soda.  Less than 600 calories total!

Can I join you guys?

I'm 259 today and need to get to 156.  Calorie-Count says I can do it by may 2008 but I want to beat that.

Good for you!  I quit smoking 3 weeks ago and I know how hard it is to keep up - especially on the weekends and after work (at least for me)!!

Good job!

13. Weight/Fitness Goal?

I have to lose about 100 pounds but I'm doing it in 2 parts.  I've got a health goal of 199 pounds (I'm 5'10" and very large-framed so this would be my official non-obese weight) and then my vanity goal which is 165.  I'm about a size 8 or 10 at that weight and look hot.

14. Least Favorite Household Chore?

Dishes

15. How did you find Calorie Count?

I really really wanted to diet and everyone at my old job wanted me to go out places with them.  I was trying to find something I could eat at McDonald's or Burger King that wouldn't blow everything.

16. Anything Else You'd Like To Share?

At current, I'm going through some pretty hard times in my life.  My 19 month old nephew recently died of leukemia so everyone on my husband's side (and some sympathetics on my side) are completely heartbroken about it.  My father also recently died of a heartattack.  That's my main motivation for this.  While I'm nowhere near his 350 pounds, I'm afraid if I don't do something NOW I'll end up like him.

I'm really looking forward to joining this community.  Message boards become an easy obsession for me so I thought a message board about weight loss would enable me to become more obsessed with weight loss which is what I really need to be.

My blog is here.  I write in it daily.  It's a great tool for me to cope with all the stuff that I'm going through this year.  Learning to cope in ways other than eating is definitely one of the things I need to do for success at this time.
