I know exactly what you mean so I decided to take charge of my life and hired a life coach.  I had so much to do and little time to it.  I needed help, my life was spinning out of control and I found it was me who was taking the back seat.

My life coach gave me a test.  It was a series of questions about your personal health, your finances, your career, your family etc etc.  At the end of the test, it scored each aspect in your life.   Surprise, surprise my personal health and personal life got the lowest score.  I scored high in finances, career, family, volunteer, etc etc.

I think as women, we put ourselves last, and I am learning how to balance each aspect of my and give more time for me.  I am learning to say no and not take on additional tasks unless I take care of myself.  And it has actually paid off, at a doctor's appointment that I have put off for years, that I needed surgery for a problem that I have dealt with for over 5 years.  I have since had the surgery and it has really changed my life.  Not only physical but more mentally to take better care of myself.  I do not have to be involved in everything.  I can let others be in charge.

So I understand many ways to juggle all the tasks in your life but balance is key and taking care of yourself has to be first.

Not sure if this helps you but thought it did me.  Good luck to a healthier you!

We don't set a time to play we just do it.  Like if we're making dinner or on a commerical break for a TV show or if we're out with friends I'll text him.  I tell him we are preparing for the Newly wed game on our next cruise so we have to practice.  Its dumb its corny and my daughter's eyes roll back in her head when we do dumb things.  lol

I love it when he answers the questions right and when he gets them wrong! Oh that's not good.  His are harder and I work hard at them.  I usually start it and then he starts in.  He always wins or THATS WHAT HE THINKS....lol

Marriage is hard work and so so fragile at any time you can lose each other so I try to make the best of each moment.

Ten Commandments---Cleopatra--Pillow Talk...and any movie with a young Yul Brynner in it....lol

... On a snowy day, my mom would let me skip school and make chili and snuggle on the couch and watch old movies.

More Current

Hopeless in Seattle, You've got Mail, Nimo!, Prince of Egypt (of course a cartoon Yul Brynner!) I love disney and I'm 44!!!

I am a hopeless romantic...I'm a dork  GO FIGURE.

Ok here's mine and everyone thinks this is amazing.  I was on my second tour of duty in the Navy (yes Female Squid) stationed in Hawaii.  I had only been on base a few months and had my car shipped to the island.  One of the girls at work asked me if I would give a Marine on base a ride to a wedding.  I said ok so I headed for the Marine Barracks.

At Marine Barracks females are not allowed past the front desk and the Marine behind the desk looked out the window and saw the plates from my car and asked if that was my car from Iowa.  He said he was from Iowa, after a little discussion we found out that we not only from the same state, from the same town, from the same high school and knew the same people and NEVER met.  he was a year behind me in a school with over 3,000 kids.  I almost forgot to pick up the Marine I was suppose to take to the wedding!  I couldn't wait to get him back to the Barracks to see if my Iowa Marine was still there!

So we met in Hawaii have 2 kids together and married for 20 years and guess where we live?  Back in Iowa, same town, kids go to the school we did and have the same friends!

When I called my parents to tell them I had met someone and that he was from home, my mom said "You leave that boy there, you have traveled all over the world for 6 years and of all things you meet a hometown boy!" They love him now.

If I take Hubbie to the grocery store, we wouldn't get out of there for under $250 and almost need a second cart!  I don't take him he costs too much and buys everything!

I once read something about how American's view food....they said we view food as entertainment instead of fuel for our bodies.

I thought that was interesting and then I think of all the times Hubbie says its date night at home and we run to the grocery store and pick up movies and TONS of snack food and snack all night.

I am going to try an earlier post about increasing portion size for hubbie with healthier food.  It's just weird for me to cook 2 small pieces of fish for me and 6 for him I hope I can control myself to just the two!  lol

Ok, I've read these posts over and over trying to understand what is being said and correct me if I'm wrong CD but your "Staying in the marriage for the kids" seems a little deeper then weight loss.

I am working on the weight loss for me not hubbie.  I have noone to blame for this gain but myself and my inability to say no to things that aren't good for me.  Friends and family will adjust and I have to learn how to balance both.  I can't consistently say no when Hubbie wants to go out because its bad for me, I just have to learn WHAT to eat (drink mostly) so I can still have time for us and not sabotage MYSELF.

As for the "staying in the marriage for kids"  I am divorced and I know first hand what that is like and let me tell you, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.  It isn't easy...it doesn't heal..and kids don't get over it....and I was the one wanting out of the marriage.

Take care of yourself and your family with healthy habits, learn to balance your home and look at the positive.   Best wishes to you and your family.

My daughter goes to a private high school where they are required to wear a uniform and are fined for any dress code violations.  Her first day at school one of the boys trying to get her attention texts her this text: "That outfit you had on today has "FINE" written all over it!"   I laughed so much...my daughter was so embarrased but they looked great at the homecoming dance.  !!!! Go figure.

This isn't exactly the same type of embarrasment but I thought I was going to crawl in a whole and die yesterday.  One of my husband's business associate that we have know for years came into the office yesterday, I had not seen him in several years we normally speak on the phone.  He is divorced now for a few years and I have a friend who is recently divorced.  So after he left the office I called him later and asked "Do you date now?" and his immediate rather loud response was "Not fat girls!".  He thought since I am over weight that of course my friends would be also.   Go figure.

New to site...Hello everyone!  My husband will one day tell me you have gained some weight and should work out and the next bringing me home a McFlurry.

I don't believe that people purposely try to sabotage a diet but rather it doesn't fit into their plan, therefore they don't take it as seriously.  My husband says he loves me every last lb but I know that he loved me a lot more when I was 40 lbs lighter!  lol  But my diet interfers with his life style.  He isn't dieting and gets annoyed if I say no, I don't want an ice cream sandwich or no I don't want to get a pizza, it doesn't fit his plans.  My friends are irritated when i won't accept that 12th drink they bought me for the night, it isn't their diet.  And of course they want me to have success just not at the time they want to have dinner or cocktails.  lol

I believe it is so much easier when you are both on the same health plan.  I'm not upset with hubbie but understand what he is going through and gradually working with him to see a healthier side for both of us.

Woo Hoo!  I am so in!  I just started on this website and am loving it!  I am 44 years old ... 161.2 lbs  down from my original 167 when I started this diet.  I really enjoy walking but its cold here in Iowa so I've been treadmilling it.  Not my favorite thing but its working.  I want to get down to 135 lbs.  I don't know if that is reasonable or not but I'm going for it.  It appears that my husband gets better looking as he ages and I just get fatter.  So I am out to change that.  I adore clothes and love to shop and since I've put on these pounds I haven't felt like it.  Its almost spring and I am ready to rid myself of this weight.

So what do we do to get this group started?
