I don't have time to read through all the posts so far, but this is such a great idea, and I'd love to join in. :-D I'm 17, 5'5", 203 pounds, down from 205 last week, and down, ultimately, from 218 pounds. My goal is 135-140 pounds by March 1st, 2008. :-D

I'll come back along and read the posts tomorrow, after I get some sleep, but keep up the great work everyone and don't give up hope!

If those pics were taken recently, you look very healthy, and you appear to be at a great weight. :-D Maintaining is probably your best bet for now; if you lost much more weight, you'd chance entering an unhealthy weight zone.

:-) Great pictures!

smwhipple, I love FiberOne! :-D I haven't bought any recently and intend to pick some up next time I go shopping. I especially love the FiberOne Honey Clusters.

restless_girl, I've been eating a lot of grains lately, to be honest. My daily fiber intake has come up a lot, too, especially since I incorporated whole wheat flour into my baking recipes and oatmeal into my morning meal.

I've no clue what to do differently, lol. I think that, for now, since I'm already a tiny bit over my daily calorie goal, I'll have a piece of whole grain toast and a cup of tea. It might be 90 degrees here, but I don't care, lol. Hopefully it'll take care of my hunger pains, though.

Thanks again!

I currently weigh 205, down from 218. :-D My first goal is 180 pounds, before my Homecoming dance in October, and my ultimate goal is 140lbs. From there, I'll decide if I need to lose more, but it's definitely a number I'll be happy to see! :-D

Foods Beware of the Green Tea... Jul 07 2007

I just checked the various boxes of tea in my cupboard and while some have calories and other's do not, none of them had a higher calorie content than 10 or 15 calories per 8oz serving. Either the box of tea you picked up has a typo or there's something not being mentioned in the ingredient list, lol. If I were you, I'd buy myself a brand of tea that I know something about and keep the box stored in my desk or maybe carry around one or two in my bag. Most teas are wrapped in individual wrappers, and it saves a lot of time and worry if you know exactly what you're drinking at any point in time.

Hey! :-) I'm 5'5 and my heighest weight was 218 lbs; I'm at 205 now, and my ultimate goal is around 140 pounds. How much weight you should lose depends on your frame size, how old you are, how active you are, and a few other different things, lol. :-) I wish you luck, no matter how much you decide you need to lose! As long as you do it healthily, things should be great. :-D

Motivation Anybody overweight for a long time have this problem? (clothes) Jun 29 2007

Oh, I was just thinking about this earlier today! I was looking through my closet, thoroughly depressed as I spied the clothes I was too big to fit in, BUT, my mood lifted significantly when I found clothes that fit me, and fit me well. You should go for the pants! Nothing makes you feel better like slipping on a pair of jeans that fit!

You're strong enough to get through this; you'll be able to get down to your goal and stay there, because you're worthy! Keep a pair of your older pants for a reminder, but you should definitely go and buy the size 20. It'll make you feel great, knowing that your hard work is paying off, in those jeans you wouldn't have been able to fit into months ago.

I have pants that are too big on me, that I plan on trashing as soon as I can, because I never want to go back to where I was; it was a bad place, and the road is looking brighter with each step in the right direction. :-D I can't wait to go and buy new clothes, it's an awesome motivator. Keep up the hard work, you're doing great!

Sounds like fun, and just the thing I need! I just jumped back into the dieting and working out, so this is the perfect motivation. :-D

Count me in, and I'm setting myself a 10 pound goal, BUT, because I know I tend to gain muscle before I lose fat, I'd like to say that in lieu of 10 pounds, I'd be happy with losing a dress size. :-D

Heck, I'd be happy losing *anything*. :-)

I'm Andry, and I'll be 17 in a little over two weeks. :-) My heighest weight was 218, and I hit that sometime before Christmas. In order to fit into a dress I bought for Winter Ball, I lost ten pounds through mild dieting and major exercise and went down to 208 sometime in January. I'm sitting at that weight now, and I hope to slim down to 140 pounds before Hallowween. :-) Welcome to Calorie Count and I wish you the best of luck.

:-D Thanks, all. This has given me some insight on what I need to eat more of, and what I need to eat less of. Hopefully planning a meal will make more sense now, lol.

Any favorite food choices that are low in carbs but high in protein?

Flavored sparkling waters are a great alternative to soda pop and teas of every sort are both good for you and tasty. The list of teas is endless, and if you don't add any sugar they should be calorie free. Sugar free lemonade mixes taste just as good as regular lemonade and are very low in calories. The Crystal Light On the Go packets are a girl's best friend. A very tasty way to get your daily water intake without the monotony of water every last second of the day!

    I hope this helped,

I used to get the exact same way on diets in the past, until I realized that the only person who can change my life is me, and that it is possible. You have to think to yourself, I can do this. I'm going to do this.

    I will do this.

The people here are wonderful and I've already found that if I lose motivation talking to people here can lift my spirits and get me back into gear. Don't worry about jump-starting into a program like it's nothing. It's going to take hard work and determination and lots and lots of baby steps. Just take it one day at a time, and you'll be healthy and on the road to weight loss before you know it.

I wish you lots of luck. :-D

    Hi,

My mother has had three children and had the same belly problems you've described; she bought a pilates DVD and has gotten rid of the belly fat nearly completely, in around four months or so. Because pilates targets the lower stomach in particular, I hear that it's especially helpful to mothers.

    Hope that helps!

On my last reply my browser did the same exact thing, lol.

I'll look for the variations sometime in the morning. :-) I should have thought of that first thing, but my mind seems to be elsewhere tonight, lol.

As for finding things to do with my hands, I've started making knotted bracelets again; I used to make them all the time for my friends when I was in junior high but totally stopped as soon as I hit highschool, lol. They're such fun, and reading is another favorite activity! I have a huge personal library started in my room. Over two hundred books I've yet to read, lol. I should get started on that collection sometime soon. I've taken this whole thing on as a complete life make-over, and I'm hoping every aspect of my life will reflect it.

My mother bought a pilates DVD about a year ago and I've tried it once or twice and found that I feel the results more than I see them. I'll have to dig that DVD out again, because I know for a fact that it does work. Have you ever had any problems with your back from doing the pilates? I'm afraid that I'll end up hurting myself because I've had minor back problems since childhood because of the size of my chest and I tend to avoid anything that will aggrevate the problem.

And that sounds like a balanced diet; I don't eat junk food of any sort, to be honest, but I do need to eat more protein and good fats. More fruits and veggies, too. I found that my skin cleared and my hair grew out much shinier when I was on the Weight Watchers diet and basically lived on fruits and veggies.

Citrus fruits are wonderful. :-D I love a wedge of lemon in my water, because I get extremely tired of the same old thing everyday.

Binges aren't fun. God, I remember the last one I went on and how guilty I felt afterwards. It was an awful hurricane of pizza, chocolate, brownies, ice cream...yuck. I've never been able to pinpoint what triggers the major binges, but I do know that boredom is a major key. If I didn't have anything to do with my hands, I used to eat.

    Thanks again,

    Andry

Stationary biking for the most part, as its winter and there's not much else I can do until the snow melts. But when I'm on the bike, I tend to get distracted and fall short of my thirty minute mark. I've picked up a few work-out CDs, as music seems to help me in every other aspect of my life, and I hope it helps this time around.

And thank you for replying; it's great to know that what I want to do is possible and that I'm not alone. Thanks for the welcome, too. :-) It's nice to know that the people here are friendly.

What sort of a diet did you follow?

To be honest, if you're only eating 200-300 calories a day, I don't think you're going to lose any weight. When you cut your calorie intake that much, your body's metabolism shuts down and stores whatever you do eat as fat, because it thinks it's in a survival situation, where your food supply has been cut to the extreme and your body is trying to stay alive.

At a minimum, you should eat at least 1,200 calories, with a lot of fruit and vegetables and protein. Drink lots of water and make sure you're eating enough!

I wish you lots of luck,
