Also, they tell you to dress like what you want to be, not what you are. While how well you get your job done is the most important merit, how you present yourself really does matter.

 This.

Exactly what I was going to say. :)

No lie - My bf has been told he looks like a younger Bear Grylls.  In fact my future SIL calls him Bear.  AND he is from Russia.  Doesn't have an accent though.

I'm with Ali on Bourdain...he is interesting to watch, not necessarily physically attractive however.  No Reservations is one of my favorite shows.

Not sure if you've figured maintenance costs into your calculations.  My brother is a mechanic at a dealership and has told me they have problems with getting mechanics certified to work on hybrids.  It is dangerous working with the electrical systems and most of them would rather not risk it.  This can make them costly to repair.

3 - My armpits and feet. I have a medical condition called hyperhydrosis, which basically means I sweat like crazy. I put on deoderant/antiperspirant like 4 times a day! I try to wear dark colored light fabric shirts or sleeveless cause they do the best job of disguising my problem. I have tried prescription antiperspirant but it burns and is unbearably itchy. My other option is botox injections, which would be very expensive, short lasting and apparently painful in those areas. My feet stink so horribly, especially in the summer time that it is extremely embarrassing. I MUST wash my feet immediately after taking off my shoes!

My coworker's adult child had this same condition with her hands.  She had this surgery where they pinch/burn/somehow deactivate a nerve in her neck which relieved the sweating.  The Dr claims a 100% success rate.

As for my non-weight related issue...  I have that condition where you can draw on your skin.  I can write my name on my arm and a few seconds later I will have raised welts where I scratched.  I subconsciously scratch.  So I always have some sort of red marks on my arms, neck, and face prompting people to ask if I'm ok.  I have medication for it, and actually it is kinda unique so I've gotten over it.

I was a nail biter my whole life.  In college I got acrylic nails for a formal event and kept them for about 4 years.  Although I did chew through those all the time too, I just kept getting them replaced.  And at least this way my hands usually looked decent.

This past xmas break I once again managed to chew all my fake nails off with the intent of getting a full set before xmas day.  For some reason I just decided not to.  I bought some black nail polish and an at home manicure set from the drug store and I havent bitten them since.

Black nail polish worked for me!!

Bonus: once your nails grow out a little bit, you see how nice they can look and its motivation to keep them that way.

The bartender asks, "Hey man, what's with the paper towl?"

The pirate replies, "Arghh, I have a bounty on me head!"

If you are looking to move to DC, you will probably work for the government or as a contractor.  It is pretty common for recent college grads to get their foot in the door through intern programs (paid w/job progression) that give you a combo of job training and education for a particular field.

All the baby boomers are on the verge of retirement so that means lots of govt jobs for us youngins to move into will be popping up in the future.

For DC jobs check out www.usajobs.com or google government internships.  I am about 3/4th through the AMC Fellows Program (www.amccareers.com) which I entered right out of college.  Oh yeah, I got a free MBA out of it too.

Good luck!

It's an excellent location right by Virginia Beach!

I've been an Army civilian for 3 years so far and I love it.  I am a logistician, but currently on assignment in the research and development/science and technology area.  Just left my job at the "war machine" last week.  Regardless of what you read, those folks working there really truly care about our soldiers.

My dad is flying CH-47s in Afghanistan right now, my cousin is infantry in Iraq, and my boyfriend is also Army civilian.

Aww, Huntsvegas!  My job is moving there and I am trying my best not to go with it.  I've been there many times and its just not for me.

I live in northern VA right outside DC.  I love it here and don't plan on leaving anytime soon.  If you live near a metro stop, you wont need a car and it gives you some flexibility as to where you can live affordably.

I felt like the authors were unnecessarily condescending.  This book reads EXACTLY like a junior high book report.  Not impressed...

My kitty's name is Peanut because he was the runt and because his back is all brown like he's laying in a peanut shell.  But lately I have been calling him "cathole" because he has been bad.

I like people names...my old cat was called Nigel.  He was black and white and looked like a butler.

I've lived in the DC area for 2 years and don't plan on leaving anytime soon.  I love it here!

There is a HUGE young professional population here and I NEVER run out of things to do.  I meet new people all the time, but have also made some great friends.  Most of the people I've met are transplants just like me.  Maybe it's me, but its like there is this vibe that makes me feel like I am at the right place at the right time.

Why do you think you will settle down quickly??

My mom "hunks" the car horn.

I used to call a pacifier a "need that."

My bf cant say hundred, instead he pronounces it "hungerd," as in that cost one hungerd dollars.

People around here say wooder instead of water.

I like to intentionally pronounce the term "holla" like "holler" but use it in the same context.
