Health & Support anorexia is straining my marriage... Oct 31 2009

Has anyone heard of Black Cohosh?  It is an herbal supplement that is supposed to help pre-menopausal women with estrogen like activity.  I figured it may not hurt.  Has anyone tried it?

I will give Pilate's a try and I will go put on some pretty panties and see if that helps:)  I was feeling so crappy this morning about myself, now I almost feel empowered! :) Thanks for all the support.

Thanks everyone for all the advice.

I think my husband, just like me, is frustrated with the situation.  He has been very supportive through out my recovery and he has been waiting patiently for my hormones to kick back into gear, so things can get back to normal (which I'm not even sure I remember what normal is:).  I think INKBLUE is right on about me making him feel unwanted, perhaps??  I will definitely work on that.  I am going to make an appt on Monday at the GYN and bring him with me, so he maybe be able to ask the Dr. questions that my quell his concerns and or fears.

It is going to be weird not working out, but I am ready to give it all I've got.  Thanks again.

Thanks so much for the advice, Fidget.  I will stop running and see what happens.  Can I still participate in light activity like walking my dog or biking with my kids?  I hate the thought of being completely sedentary.

My weight prior to my weight loss was 215 lbs.  I lost most of the weight through a healthy lifestyle, but once I had the last 20lbs to loose, watching the numbers go down on the scale got a little addicting, hence my problem.  What do you think I should keep my calories at if I am not running?  Just at maintenance or do you think that would hinder my the return of my cycle?

I am not sure my calorie count, I stopped counting this summer, but before that I was eating about 2000.  My lowest weight was 109. I am 30 yrs old, do you think my age has anything to do with it?

5 days binge free!!!!

I went out with my husband last night and had dinner and drinks, and when I got home I ate a couple bites of his pie and my own strawberry shortcake, but proud to say I stopped myself from eating more!!  Little victories. :)

Hi.  I know I am kind of late joining, but I want to stop BINGING!!  It makes me feel so nasty and out of control!  I had a big one 2 days ago and I felt so terrible about it, I decided, enough is enough!

I like the idea of being accountable and coming on here and posting our accomplishments and being able to reach out for support.

Binge free day 2!

You know Linny, I will try anything.  Who knows, it may work!  I'll let you know :)  Don't be scared of lifting, it has done amazing things for my metabolism.  I dont think I have bulked up at all, just really toned.  I get tons of compliments on my arms and back, I just wish I could just get into the mode of doing it more than 2x a week.

I am going to really try to get in 3 days next week...I think I can, I think I can...( I have been reading too many kids books :))

Hope you all have a great weekend.  Enjoy your drinks, Linny!

Hello all!  Linny is right, we do need to update more.  I love reading how everyone is doing!

I am doing alright.  I have been maintaining (give or take a few lbs), though I have not been meeting my weight training goals all week.  I do well for a few weeks and then I slack off.  I just find lifting soooooo boring!!!  I could run day in and day out, but lifting...just have a hard time making myself do it.  Anyone have any ideas of how to make it more interesting??

Hope to hear from the rest of you soon!

Hi pumpkin and welcome!

We have about the same stats.  I will be 29 on the 27th (sucking the air out of the room *gasp*).  I am 5'8" and I am maintaining 125.  I am a runner.  I try to run between 15-20 miles a week.  I started with the c25k program when I started my weight loss adventure.  I have always noticed when I have knee or ankle problems, either I didnt warm up enough or I need a new pair a shoes (which is usually the problem).  I highly reccomend going to a professional running store and getting measured.  They can suggest the right type of shoe for your foot shape and size.  Its a little pricey, but I feel worth getting done at least once.  Once you find the shoe you like, you can go buy it anywhere.  I get a lot of shoes online for really good prices.

Best of luck to you, maintenance is do-able!

Happy birthday!

Kelly

Hey all!

I will check in, it has been a while.  Went on a little vaca with the husband and had a great time.  Zero exercise while there, besides walking around a little bit, so I put on a few lbs.  I will get back to eating normally, take a break on alchol consumptution and throw in some extra exercise for the next week and hopefully things will get back to normal.

I couldnt agree more with you linny!  I had pizza and beer on my trip and it was so fun not to care!  Hooray for maintenance!

Have a good one!

I eat about 2500 ( I burn 2500) on days I run 5 miles and on days I lift, I eat 2100 (I burn 2100) and on days I rest I eat 1800 (I may not be exercising, but my 2 little ones keep me busy, my burn meter says I only burn 1600 when I am sedentary).  I also fluctuate up and down about 3lbs. so I guess we are on the right track!  I am excited about how far we have come.

Awesome job, phox!  You are starting your week off great.  I too increased my weights and lowered my reps and I always feel whipped at the end of my work out.  My husband is into weight lifting, so he set up a program for me, sounds pretty similar to yours.

I did manage to drag myself out of bed this morning and lifted for an hour and then ran a quick mile around the block.  I am pooped, but I feel happy I finished as well.  Go us!!!

Sounds good to me, phox!  I totally agree that weight training is a bit boring, I am always trying to find a way to make it more appealing, like changing up music or researching new exercises...maybe I should make a gold star sticker chart, like when I potty trained my kids...I get a gold sticker when I drag my booty down stairs to weight lift:)

What program are you doing?

Hello!  I am really excited about this thread.  I also need support in maintaining.  I am 28 (almost 29), mother of 2.  I am 5'8" and started my journey at 215lbs.  I am now maintaining at 125lbs.  I am a very active person, just by chasing after my 3 and 5 yr olds and I also like to run (I usually run about 20 miles a week).

I am currently working on adding more strength training to my regime, and I really should be doing it right now (instead of drinking coffee and playing on this site):)

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

I believe I will cube and freeze 1/2 and crumble the other 1/2.  They both sounded awesome!

I love this site.  You get answers so quickly! :)

I also feel (for some weird reason) self conscience when I run, so I get up at 5am to run.  It used to be difficult at first, but now it is second nature.  I love to run in the morning, I feel like I get an extra hour added to my day!  It also gives me amazing energy that lasts all day!
