If you have seriously lost 20 lbs in the past two and a half weeks I really suggest you get some guidance. Not to be negative but I read your post and immediately became worried about you. |

| Weight Loss | Does anyone eat Lean Cuisines? | Jul 17 2008 20:40 (UTC) |

I eat them 2-3 x's a week for lunch (Usually mon-wed). I got hooked on the spaghetti with meat sauce. It is a conveinient way for me to monitor my lunch calories. Sometimes the meal is enough but I keep a bag of salad and a tomato at work in case I need a bit more that day. I also use the spray dressing or now Kraft has 25 calorie dressing pre-packed. By thursday I usually want something else. Like today I picked up a 6inch roasted chicken from subway. I usually keep several in the freezer at work. Good luck! |

I am 29 & I guess I knew I would be a mom one day but I didn't actually see myself as a mom. I married my highs school sweetheart and we were together for 11 years (married for 3 of those years) and kids were the furthest thing from my mind. About a year after I divorced my highschool sweetheart I met my now husband. This may sound weird but he smiled at me one day and I could see my child in his eyes. I knew we were going to get married and have kids. Now at 29 I have an 8 month old son and I would not change it for the world! Honestly I am glad I did not have kids sooner or with my ex-husband. You may or may not want kids one day but when you are ready you will know. Good luck and live life for now... |

| Weight Loss | On a 1200 calorie diet? How's it going? | Jul 16 2008 01:43 (UTC) |

Sounds weird but you might not be eating enough. I am 29 5ft3 and currently 223lbs. I started this journey 05-25-08 and I started at 236lbs. That averages about 1.5-2lbs a week. I will be honest it feels slow but i think I am on the right track. I notice when I eat 1200 cals I am really hungry at end of day. I try and stay between 1300-1500. Maybe try eating 1200 one day and 1400 the next then back to 1200. Zig zagging may give your body what it needs to start losing. I always try and change up my daily menu. Our bodies can get used to our menu. |

| Weight Loss | Kinda long, but need some advice (or just rant with me) please | Jul 10 2008 06:47 (UTC) |

I wish there was an easy answer. All I can suggest is to try and alter your meals as much as possible. It sounds like dinner is the "issue" (aside from the lack of support). Perhaps you should keep your calories lower during the day and leave "room" for a larger dinner. One "trick" I learned on this site is to drink 8oz of water with 1tbs of fiber (Metamucil) a half hour before my breakfast and lunch. It is 45 cals (you can get sugar free and it is 30 cals and you can get the off brand, just make sure it is not the one that is clear. That one doesn't do much) but it helps me feel full and helps me get in my fiber. Here is an example of my day: 7:30 I drink fiber w/water 45 cals 8:00am 1 package of instant oatmeal (apple and Cinnamon flavor) made with water. I use hot water and then micro it for 20-30 secs to make it thicker (watch it does not over flow the cup or bowl) 128 cals 9:30am 1 low fat cheese stick (usually mozzarella) 60 cals and 1 large orange 85 cals 11:30am fiber w/water 45 cals noon (varies but I try and keep it between 300-400 cals) sometimes a lean cuisine meal or a sandwich or a chicken salad. 2:30-3:00 a yogurt 90 cals or some other snack under 100 cals At this point I have eaten between 750-850 cals. I try and stay between 1400-1500 a day (You would have to adjust based on your calorie limits) so for dinner I can eat the remaining calories. Sorry so long but thought some examples might help. Good luck and I believe in you. it won't be easy but try making little adjustments. It might take a bit longer to lose the weight but slow and steady is better than nothing at all. |

| Weight Loss | has anyone heard of the "fullbar"? | Jul 01 2008 00:28 (UTC) |
6 |
I saw the commercial last weekend and I googled it. It is basically something to make you feel fuller. Only negative thing I read is each bar is either 200 or 250 calories and they suggested you take it before your two biggest meals. The problem I read is it will add 500 calories to your day so for those who "really" eat less because of it the bar would help you lose weight. For those who do not truely eat less than they normally would could possibly gain weight by adding those extra calories. |

I delt with the same thing a few months ago. I was doing the eliptical everyday and I thought I was eating healthy but I did not realize I was eating way to many calories. My suggestion is make sure you are drinking plenty of water (helps flush out the bad stuff) and eat enough but not too much. Sometimes our bodies are stubborn. Just hand in there! |

| Weight Loss | Gastric Bypass VS LapBand Surgery | Jun 28 2008 15:46 (UTC) |

Agenstarling - I am sorry to read about your cousin! WLS is always a touchy subject! Many people know someone who has had it or is considering it. There are many positive stories but there are many sad ones too. I had gastric bypass 5 years ago and it was the best decision for me. I researched the surgery for a year before I went to my doctor and the process took almost a year. I will tell you the possibility of dying was very scary. I started off at 325lbs and my lowest weight was 188. Now I know 188 is still high but I have been overweight since i was a kid. Either surgery is only a tool. Once you lose the weight you need to be in a eating and exercise plan that will help keep the weight off. Also, I always tell people that I do not recommend surgery. Sounds weird I am sure but I feel every person needs to research their options and make their own decisions. I know several people who had absolutely no issues with their surgery (self included) and many many others that are years out and have difficulties every day. I also know people that did weight watchers and lost a huge amount of weight. My sister in law has lost 120 lbs on weight watchers in a little over a year. Ironically after 5 years I am here on this wonderful site doing what people said I should have done years ago. I currently weigh 224 (I had a baby 8 months ago) and I am using this wonderful site to get back down to 188 (or lower). Oh as for the difference between the two surgeries you can look for a clear explanation on www.obesityhelp.com Good luck in your personal life journey! |

Thanks, I know the weight will come off. I guess I just needed some support from other people that are fighting the same battle I am. Unfortunately, If I were to discuss this with the people I am around most, like coworkers, they would be the first ones to give me every excuse to give up. |

I started out at 236 and I am down 12lbs since 05/25/08. My clothes are baggy but no one has really noticed. I still have a long way to go but it is nice when someone "validates" the hard work you have been doing... Hang in there!

Wow you are the younger version of me right now :) I am 29 and I have an 8 month old son. I really started doing this exactly one month ago at 236lbs. Today I am at 224lbs. For the past month I have had EVERY intention of exercising but REALLY that hasn't happened. I even put a treadmil in my room and set my alarm for 1 hour before I really need to get up...again that hasn't happened. So really over the past month I have just kept my calories between 1300-1600. When I was pregnant I weight 258lbs. When I had my son I dropped 22lbs right away and then my weight just stayed the same. I thought I was eating healthy but once I started counting calories I realized I was eating almost 3000 a day. As for excercise afterwork. By the time I get my son, go home, feed baby, hubby gets home, neither of us want to do anything but hang out. I try suggesting walks after work but that has yet to happen. Sorry for the long story but I just want you to know you are NOT ALONE!!! Counting calories and drinking tons of water has been working so far for me. Good luck and hang in there! |

I am sure it was almost 3000 a day. I now stay between 1300-1700 (depending on day and activities). I wasn't really gaining but I definately was not losing. Now I am on the losing path and eventhough counting takes effort I am glad I came across this site! |

keep up the good work. I have been on and off of this site for almost a year. May 25, 2008 I think it finally sunk it and I got it. I log everything, i stay between 1300-1700 calories and in less than a month I have lost almost 13 pounds. I still have 45lbs to lose but I am on my way. I too do not see the difference but I have to believe if I keep up what I am doing that will change soon. Good luck |

| Weight Loss | I had Gastric Bypass over a year ago and I need support and advice | Jun 09 2008 20:52 (UTC) |

First I would like to say congrats on stepping up and asking for help. I had Gastric bypass 5 years ago and it completely changed my life. Some for the good, some for the bad. I am about 5ft 3 and before WLS I weighed 325. After WLS I got down to 188. I got married almost two years ago and put on about 18lbs within 6months. I was extremely happy but got way too comfortable. Then after 6 months of trying I got pregnant with my first child. When I got pregnant my starting weight was 214 then I put on 38 lbs with pregnancy. After my baby I was 252. I dropped 18lbs right away and now I am at 228 and going down, slowly, but going down. Any ways, I have had the worst time of the years finding support and information on how to eat. I knew WLS was a tool and not a cure but I fell into the trap of eating way more than I should be. Sure most of my weight gain was with my pregnancy but now I am dealing with the aftermath. I have always known I am an emotional eater and I will always battle weight. For me, I realized even though I eat way less than I was before surgery I am still eating throughout the day and for a while I was making horrible descisions. I am not sure how many calories you are eating in a day but this site is a great way to find out. Try logging everything, figure out how much you eat in a day and then go from there. I wish I had recipies for you. I really just try and watch everything I eat/cook. My point in writting this novel is so you know you are not alone. I am sure there are many others on this site that have had WLS and we just don't know it. What weight are you at now? please feel free to message me directly. Maybe we can start our own little group on here :) |

| Weight Loss | help? | Jun 07 2008 05:39 (UTC) |

There are some days I feel like I am starving. Other days I am fine. I try and eat a lot of proteins in my diet. I usually eat between 1300-1600 calories a day. I try and eat a carb and a protein for breakfast. Here are some examples of my day: 7:30 am - 1 pkg oatmeal made with water & 1 low fat cheese stick (about 200 cals total) 9:30-10ish 1/2 c nonfat cottage chees w/tropical fruit cup (about 160 cals) noon - usually salad w lite dressing, lean cuisine meal & fruit (cals depend on LC meal) 2ish- a yogurt or cheese stick or 100 cal beef jerkey stick dinner is between 5 & 6pm and the meal can vary. Sometimes I will also eat a hard boiled egg with my oatmeal. Not mixed in, on the side with black pepper. I wish you the best.

I am right there with you! I have gone down at least a size and a half in my jeans, my waist line is shrinking, you can see my neck bones more (I lose weight from top to bottom) but the scale has stayed the same for the past week. They say you should really only weigh yourself every two weeks. Every month would be better. I only "count" my weight every two weeks otherwise it goes up and down and I go CRAZY....LOL Sorry couldn't help with the Science...but you are not alone :) |

I think you bring up a good point about loose skin. If you are really close to being a "healthy" BMI it is entirely possible that your loose skin might make the difference. Don't get me wrong I am not saying to go have any of it removed. Check with your doctor (I know I hate that saying) you may be at a "healthy" weight and just need to keep on maintaining. Awesome job by the way of losing the weight and keeping it off! |

do not drive yourself nuts over this...LOL. I used to drive myself crazy because I am 5ft3 and when I was 190 I could wear a 14. Now after my son I am about 228 and I wear between a 20-22. But what drives me crazy is...GET THIS...My coworker who is 5ft4 close to 5ft5 and two pounds lighter than I am fits in a 16-18. I had to realize we have two totally different body shapes. She carries her weight in her boobies...LOL and mine is in my tummy... Oh well...I think the sizes can vary between makers as well...I try not to let sizes get to me... |
