I also shoot for Shakira.  Also Jennifer Anniston,  although she is too skinny right now, probably when she first started Friends.  I was thinking of starting a scrapbook for myself w/ pics and motivational sayings.  Right now my fridge has a sign that says "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"   Laughing

100 cal microwave popcorn pack are awesome. I buy the big box and keep 2-3 packs on my shelf at a time and store the rest away.  That way if I have a bad day and cave it isn't horrible.  That said, even if you do have a whole bag of light popcorn it still isn't too bad, not like chips or cheetos (personal fave).  Also I keep lots of celery, carrots, and green pepper slices on hand with Lt Ranch salad dressing.  I cut the veggies and store them in bags in the fridge for easy grabbing.  Plus the new single serve salad dressing is easy to grab and take to work.

I also have a binge issue.  Sometimes (if i can) I will just stop and look at the thing I am about to cram into my gob and really look at it.  I ask myself, "am I hungry?" No.  "Why do I want this?"  Usually it's cuz I am sad at being heavy and not having an outlet for my frustration.  Sometimes i am just bored and looking for something else to do.  Try to really start paying attention to what you put in your mouth and why.  Trust me, even if you eat one less biscuit than you were gonna it will be a small victory.  Build on that.  If you have some cookies, don't think that you have messed eveything up and go the whole hog.  I find also that pre-measuring portions of foods (when not hungry) helps also.  Get a scale and some small baggies and get to work.  Also periodically check weights of things you eat alot of to make sure portions stay in check. Every once in a while I measure out 1 cup of rice and put it on a plate to remind myself what it should look like, or 2 oz meat, or whatever.  It all adds up.

Hope this helps, and Good Luck!

I also had bypass surgery. My dietician recommended www.bariatricadvantage.com to me.  It is a great website for bypass patients who need supplements in chewable form.  She recommended the Iron in passionfruit (29 mg dose, strawberry is only 18)  I had surgery about 6 months ago.  I was borderline anemic prior to surgery and now my levels have actually improved with this supplement.  plus it doesn't taste half bad.  As to the vit d i am not too sure but your doc should have some idea of how to up that number.

Since hitting my first 100lb goal i can cross my legs, put on my shoes without sitting down, wear a womens size XL not plus 1X, run, skip, jump, play with my kids, fit all my prepregnancy clothes (which I kept for 6 years cuz I never gave up!), fit a shoe size smaller, fit 4 ring sizes smaller, have amazing sex (yes I said it), and generally love myself and my life!

I disagree with Carleyrapp.  I have had two c-sections, gastric bypass, plus an emergency surgery a month after that.  They had me up and walking within 6 hours.  It increases respiration, clearing the gunk that can build up from being bed ridden for a day or two.  It also improves circulation reducing the risk of clots.  I know I wasnt running aon a treadmill or anything but I had to get my butt moving everyday and try to be mindfully "active"  at least to the best of my abilities.  I have never heard of not doing anything for 6 weeks after having a baby via C'section or otherwise unless the post slipped in here from 1950.  Jeez!

One other note: My doctor has also suggested a link between carbonated beverages and weight gain.  The theory basically is that when you consume carbonation the air bubbles can expand the stomach, stretching it slightly and therefore making you more likely to eat/drink more.  I cut out soda about 8 months ago and have noticed a change.  Nothing drastic mind you but it does seem to help a little.  It doesn't really apply if your calories stay the same but it's a thought.

I think instant oatmeal is a fine choice.  I choose the "less sugar" variety and 1 pack is only about 100 cal.  Oatmeal of any kind and fills you up longer than most other breakfast foods.  You really get a satisfying meal for those 100 cal.  plus, YUM!

I use avon and i love it. the key is to make sure you apply a face cream or moisturizer before you start.  that way make up blends better, lasts longer, and goes on so much more easily.  and oh yeah i will be 30 in a few months.  hehe.

Weight Loss 5 lb loss in one day...is this possible? Mar 20 2007

In my experience with deiting and reading articles etc I believe that when you begin a weight loss program that includes calorie restricting, the first few weeks your body goes through a detox phase and flushes everything out.  Mainly water weight is lost in the first week or so wich looks great on the scale but it usually doesn't translate into actual fat loss.  Also in starting a healthy diet plan you may have inadvertantly cut down on your salt intake in one day further enhansing the water weight lost.  Keep at it.  After the water goes your body should slow down the loss to about 1-2 pounds a week which isn't as dramatic but is very healthy.  If you two are still in rapid weight loss mode after 1 week you may need to speak with your nutritionalist again to make sure you are getting enough calories in your diet.

I totally understand everything typed there.  i felt like i was reading something i had written a few months ago.  I also struggle to keep my binges under control.  I am trying to persue gastric bypass and have been on a doctor supervised diet for 3 months.  i  hid my binging from the whole world for most of my life.  no one could ever figure out why i was so heavy, they never saw me eat.  So far i have only told my husband about my binge/fast cycle and he has been very supportive.  I didn't even tell my doctor for fear of being turned down for surgery.  at the start i binged every single day usually consuming 4000+ cal a day.  It takes so much effort.  It's really almost exhausting trying to avoid thinking about eating when it is the only thing you know.  Stick with it though and i am sure that like me, your body will slowly adjust to a new way of living.  The binges will spread out and not be as bad.  All you can do each day is promise yourself that you will try to eat healthy.  If you fall off the wagon one day there will always be another one behind it.  Good luck!
