amethystgirl: depending on the person, you can do cardiovascular exercise for as long as you feel you can before strength training. i am able to do one hour of cardiovascular exercise before i start my strength training regime. it's all about how much you can endure personally, depending on fitness goals, what you ate before your workout, the levels of glucose and glycogen in your body at the time of your workout etc. i'm not sure where you got the idea that cardiovascular exercise shouldn't precede weight lifting, because cardiovascular exercise is warming up. |

actually sooji, my love ;) lol, you should do cardio before weight-training because it warms up your muscles, allowing them to better contract. if you want, you could split up the routine so that you do like half cardio before weights and then the rest of your cardio after weights so you don't get too tired. |

I'm 5"3'. That's strange how most people on this website normally eat 1200-1500 calories per day. Also, a famous trainer named Jackie eats 1500 calories per day. That website says I should be consuming 1600 while absolutely SEDENTARY! I'm just really afraid all of these calculators are bogus and will make me gain weight .. especially reading all these posts on CC .. |

Really? Apparantly you can test yourself with a water experiment. A Simple Test You Can Do at Home First thing in the morning, before you put ANYTHING in your mouth, get a clear glass and fill with water. Work up a bit of saliva, then spit it into the glass of water. Check the water after a moment or within 2-3 minutes, then within every 15 minutes. If you have a candida yeast infection, you will see strings, like cloudy legs, traveling down into the water from the saliva floating on the top, or "cloudy" saliva will sink to the bottom of the glass, or cloudy specks will seem to be suspended in the water. If there are no strings, the water is as clear as it was before you spit in the glass and the saliva is still floating after at least one hour, you are probably candida yeast free. The more strings and cloudiness there is and the faster it develops, the greater the overgrowth. Source: http://www.road-to-health.com/am/publish/arti cle_150.shtml Anyway, I did that and it appears that occurred. I am very good with my diet, aside from the normal slip-ups. I always make sure I eat lots of vegetables, fruits, protein, whole grains and dairy. And will 1500 maintain my weight or make my body think it's starving? |

| Foods | I thought if you ate within your calorie allowance, you wouldn't gain weight .. | May 28 2008 04:52 (UTC) |

Yes, I think you're right about retaining water. I would hope that I wouldn't be losing muscle mass, because I go to the gym about 4 to 5 times a week, and I take public transportation and work at a salad bar. But perhaps the lack of protein may be causing a slight amount of muscle decrease. I'm definitely going to weigh myself in the morning, because right now I don't want to feel disappointed if my weight is from today's food lol .. Thank you so much for your help lionpaw, I really appreciate it!!! =D |

I just came back from the doctor's .. he said it was probably because I was consuming too many legumes, which I can definitely agree with! I work at a salad bar where we can put whatever we want in our salad and I pretty much eat an omelette every morning with mixed veggies, contatining carrots, corn, peas and lima beans. Somedays after a workout, I finish an entire can of chickpeas! Haha .. and I don't even want to get started on what I put in my salads! Anyway, I was reading about this "BRAT" diet which includes bananas, rice, applesauce/apples (some websites vary), and toast. Basically, it includes low-fibre foods, which are dry and absorb extra acid in the tummy. I've eaten 2 bananas, an apple, 3 slices of toast with 1 tsp becel light, and a lot of blueberry herbal tea, and I'm feeling well enough to go to work today! So much for cutting breads out of my diet, ha .. I see why I need to include it now .. oh well, I'm not complaining ;) . The doctor said proteins and things like that were fine. I think I should buy my regular 1% milk now, because I switched to soymilk and I know soybeans are legumes =O .. who knew such small change could do this to a person! |

Awww man =( I love veggies! Today I ended up eating a lot of bread and oatmeal because I thought I really needed something substantial .. I did end up having some veggies on my sub, as well as 2 bowls of fruit .. and I had a lot of sugar additives .. ahh .. I think I need to stop with so much fibre =S |
