I don't think it will make much of a difference in college and job applications if he quits football his senior year, especially if he doesn't plan on continuing football in college. Personally, I'd push for him to get some kind of part time employment if that is an option. I am one of only 3 of my friends to be currently employed and we all had job experience in high school. All of the friends that didn't have job experience, well... they're still looking.

Even if it's just fast food, it could be benifitial in getting him a internship later on. I'm not sure if it's the same for aspiring doctors, but my friend wants to be a nurse and a major factor in her getting an internship at the hospital was the 2 years she'd spent waitressing that she could tie into the job as helping people, following directions, not needing constant guidance, etc. When I got my internship (in a field completely unrelated to my previous work experience) they still asked alot of questions about my previous job because it showed alot about my work ethic, and the fact that I had held a job for a year and a half.

With or without senior year football, or a job, it is still primarily based on school grades and how hard he wants to work to get into those jobs and schools.

Which is rediculous

when I rode a bus (5 years ago) we werent even alowed to use CD players, especially not cell phones. If the bus driver feels like using certain devices inhibits her ability to drive, or our awareness of the road..then whatever she sais should go

I am having a little trouble letting that sink in...

Original Post by jellykiss:

Oh yes, another relationship post.

Sorry, this isn't going to be very dramatic. I'm just wresting with my emotions.

So far, this relationship has been great.

Our work schedules are night and day...literally. I'm a night shift employee at a cable corp and he's a teacher. The weekends are all we have to spend time together. Not a huge problem, though. We make it work.

He is friends with a girl who lives three hours away. They've been friends probably longer than my boyfriend and I have even known each other. Occassionally, she will stay over his house, and he will stay over hers.

I trust him completely. In fact, I was quite comfortable with it until a few weekends ago.

My boyfriend postponned our plans to drive over and spend the night at her place...because she had broken up with her boyfriend. This made me a little uncomfortable, and I told him.
We talked it over.
He apologized and told me how important I was to him. I told him his friendships are also important, and I support him. I felt much better after this talk.

I would never stop him from doing anything amongst his friends.
After all, this would not be a deal at all if this was a male friend. Would I not want the same trust and support if I had a close male friend? And they have been friends for so long, it should be cherished.

But...

This evening, my boyfriend told me his friend was staying tonight, and tomorrow over for halloween. I felt not only uncomfortable, but hurt.
Maybe it's my hormones. Maybe I'm much more jealous than I though I was.

But my gut is reeling.

Please, someone smack me back into the rational side of my brain.

Well..it is very possible to be just BEST friends betwee na guy and a girl. I have a guy best friend that I stay over at his house all the time, we sleep in the same bed and everything and have never done anything.. but because of me. If I told him I wanted to be with him he'd jump on it in a second, but since he knows I dont he's totally respectful and cool with it.

Now..will this girl give him the chance to jump on it?

Your security deposit will cover the landlord's cost of preparing the apartment for the next renter, cleaning, painting, changing locks, etc.  so best case scenario you will not get it all back.  In most cases renters don't get any of it back back because the landlord will "document" enough expenses to cover the full amount.

Thats not fair that a security deposit should cover stuff for the NEXT renter that is standard for something even a hotel is spose to  do.

. ..its spose to cover any major damage caused by you. (holes in wall, busted door, ect ect)

I understand that kids will be kids, but there are some children who laugh in the face of authority, and from what I understand - this child was a regular in the principals office.  Obviously he's not getting the point.

right.  but in the school system, they have no authority to use physical force.  and duct taping a child's mouth/wrists is definitely physical force.

Maybe if they did, children would be better off since obviously their parents are using any "force" at home..and most of the time, they arent getting any discepline or attention at home. If kids are gonna be at school 8 hours a day, required, the school should have some of the same rights that parents have

Everything is to politically correct now a days. My mom signed permission slips when I was younger to get paddles in the office..and before then...there was not even a permission required.

Maybe she just needed the night to cuddle with me to start trusting me.

She's so silly though. I bought her SO many toys and she only plays with a pen she found on the floor and chases her tail..lol. She will chase her tail for like 10 minutes.

My cat sa bit too skiddish to play with anything that moves, haha..except her sister. She is the alpha female in that relationship. She's really loving towards humans..but if you move to fast around her suddenly..she jumps..and if you try to play with her with like a string on a stick..she is like uhh no. Is the only thing wrong with the car the transmission?  Because it would be cheaper to fix and then save your money for a good car.  You could get a different car and it could have problems too.  I do not recommend getting into debt with a new car even at 0%.  Newer car = more expensive for insurance, tags, and taxes.  At 20 years old, with deferred student loans and not much credit, working 3 jobs, I would recommend that you keep what you have especially if the only problem is the transmission.

its  falling apart slowly. No part in putting money into it. Its oil leak is insane and I have to put oil in it every week

I suggest buying a new car, but one of the ones from a previous year they havent sold yet. A lower cost new car - not super expensive. Because these are new with warranties still - and dealerships need to rid of them you can find the best deals there.

Bad credit, no credit used car places charge INSANE interest and can require larger downpayments.

If you have no credit (and not bad) you can still walk into a dealership that offers 0% or 2/3/4k cash back and demand 0% interest, yes demand.

Some dealerships will almost laugh after running your credit and be like, oh no, best we can do is 10% - at which time you immediately walk out. 9 times out of 10 they will come after you. Majority of time they will "check with their financing company" or some other b.s. and call you back.

When 1 dealership, it doesn't matter which one, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, whatever - when one of them call you back to agree to the 0%, you call the other dealerships and say, "So and so at such and such dealership has agreed to give me 0% with $x down, but I would really rather buy a car from you."

They will probably have to call you back. Someone else will say yes.

Remember: if you buy a used car, and pay on it for 3 years without a warranty, and after 2 years it breaks down, you will need to find the money to fix it PLUS keep paying your car loan - this is a horrible situation that gets most people repossessed. Some things on a used car are not worth fixing because the cost to fix is now worth more than the car's value.

You are young and your options that make the most sense for your financial freedom later would be: pay cash for an older used car and have no loan, or buy a new car with full warranty for less than like $12k at 0%

Check out this story - it is also so much help.

this sounds good..but even without a cosigner?

a) get a credit card (at some point--- you need to build credit.  you dont need to use it or put on a recurring bill, like your um car payment :) and set up auto pay to pay it each month immediately.  Your score is based, in part, on your debt to available balance ratio).

b) credit unions are usually based on locality or place of work.  for example, i could be a part of a credit union in my home state because i lived in the specific county, and because i joined a long time ago, i can stay with them.  because of this-- and 20 years with them and my parents with them etc-- they financed my mortgage-- despite my very poor credit.  you may find one based on local or job type, etc.  as a student, i was eligible for being a party of my college's credit union.

c) whomever said credit union for car loans is RIGHT on the money.  try that!  and second, just because you have LIMITED credit does not mean you have no credit.  go run a credit report and get your FICA score.  That will give you a better idea of what you are looking at.  Yes, at your age and your likely low income, you are looking at a higher interest rate and maybe a higher dp-- but-- knowing where you stand in regard to other borrowers will help you get the best deal.  Also-- you can look at buy here/pay here lots (higher interest rates/up the b-u-t-t/but have a car because i have to have one/type of lots), but i think you are better off trying to get a conventional loan OR finding enough cash to get a cheap car (i.e. 3K can get you a lot).

GOOD LUCK!!

Yea I'm really concidering one of those buy here pay here lots. I know the interest is out the b-u-t-t..but hey..it will build my credit and I will have a car for relativly cheapish.. giving me good credit to buy a "real" car when its time.

I'm looking at a max of 1500 downpayment but thats gonna be more then 20 percent of my 5-7 thousand dollar car so hopefully that is good enough.

And about the credit union. I bank with Max Credit Union "mymax.com" if anyone is interested. I applied online for a 8000 dollar loan. Hopefully since me and my mom..who is on my account..have been banking there for YEARS they will help me out. And my student loans are thru them.

ALSO..i tried applying for a credit card through them but they said I needed a cosigner I think. I didnt put too much thought into it at the time so i didnt ask too much.  Where do I get a credit card that doesnt require one. I was thinking about paying my utilities on it and then paying it back right away. Something cheap but...still something.

Everyone needs to quit beign so nice and be real.

He asked Talia to the dance because he LIKES her.... age has NOTHING to do with it. When did age ever matter?

If he's hanging out with her, then its not to get to know her, especially since it was in a group. He would have hung out with her one on one to get to konw her i na group if he had a genuine interest. If anything..he wants to do her. Did anyone forget he's a 17 year old guy?? You dont wanna spend a whole night having to converse with someone who you dont have any real interest in..but if you do have interest in her you will jump at the chance to spend that night together.

Hell.i'd be more willing to go to a dance with someone I liked even if  I didnt know him well because it would be a great icebreaker and if things got awkward hey..your at a dance..come on.

I say all that to get to this....It's not wrong to question God and be a skeptic.  Actually, as someone else has stated, I encourage it!  But go to the source!  Read some of the Bible with an open mind and see what God can do.  See who He is, and maybe more importantly, who He ISN'T!!!  He gets SUCH a bad rap because of bungholes who CLAIM to be believers and do some of the worst things you can imagine.  It's not God's fault!!!  Anyway, to whoever, I hope you question God and hope you check him out for real...and not what everyone else says He is.

Good luck!!

That above is great. But, I have a question. To truly ecourage skepticism and doing research...don't you think a person needs to read up on all religions? If a person is schooled in only one thing...say, math. They were never introduced to any other subject, at all, but Math.  All they ever did was math. They would become a math wiz. They would understand the flaws and understand the most technical of equations... But, they wouldn't have a clue who Shakespeare was. That's probably a bad example...yah...but...what I'm trying to say..is if a person strongly believes in...let's say..the Christian bible...then to truly hold that conviction without pretense, shouldn't they have an abdundent knowledge of other religions? How else can they draw the conclusion that their religion is the TRUE religion..let alone...believe in religion at all.

I'm a skeptic but definitely not - at least not yet - an atheist or agnostic. I just find it a bit ignorant [sorry if that sounds harsh] to claim a religion as the TRUTH when a person knows nothing about any other religions - except possible heresay.

To go along the same lines as what someone else said..how can one be SURE that their belief is the TRUE belief?

I wish I had more time in my life to do more research on religion...I find it so intriguing. I do believe that having faith can give many people peace and I find nothing wrong with that. In fact, having spiritual peace is a wonderful thing to have.  It's why I have stated that I believe 'God' is love. Because love creates and grows and forgives and loves unconditionally.  Which makes me question how many religious people really have 'God' in their heart...

Confusing...

I've studied other religions briefly. I took a "World Religions" class..and we went over pretty much all the religions of this time....tribal and african religions collectivly ofc.

I won't stand barefooted on a wet floor except in the shower. *shudder*

I make up stories/excuses for people who are doing stupid things, or just things that seem odd.

Like, there is this one house in the neighborhood, and they have these iron western country wrangler silhouettes all around their house, life sized- of a cowboy leaning with his hat tipped.

Well, their next door neighbor has just ONE of these, sitting near their door.

So I think to myself, well what must have happened here, is that neighbor A (with all the silhouettes) was visited by neighbor B. And Neighbor B is trying to be nice, they just moved in you know, and they say oh those are neat! so neighbor A, being really weird to begin with (i mean, really, cowboy silhouettes?) thinks they are being nice and offer the new neighbor one of the silhouettes to enjoy at their own house!

well the new neighbor can't very well turn down the offer, since they JUST said how much they liked it.

And now they can never take it down, either, or else neighbor A will know they were lying when they first met.

I moved out on the 1st though and my plan is to set aside money for bills, for me, and to save. I feel better if I know I am saving at least some.

Just look at it like you cant live at your parents house forever, so might as well jump into it now where you can form some good financial habits.

And then think that at least your not WASTING the money, it is going towards something that you worked hard for and is yours and is providing a necessity to your life
