droevig.. I have the EXACT same problem as you! You know how most celiacs have the opposite problem.. gluten makes them rush to bathroom all the time? Well my brother is a celiac and I didn't test positive. But when I cut gluten out of my diet.. my life changed! I'm happy you are here ha.

Yeah i agree with most people here that there are a lot of resources on the internet. I have found when it comes to cooking and having dinner parties, the best way to go is mexican food.

awesome .great tips. thanks gi jane for helping with the grocery store tips. Had no idea.

I bought a salmon fillet. I'm having some trouble figuring out how many calories are in it. Seems like a lot of fat! All of the ones I Find on cc, say somewhere between 200-400 with like 4.5 g of sat. fat. whoa.

seems simple!
So how do you pick out meat at the grocery store? is there a section for organic meat usually I'm assuming?

I didn't even realize you could stir fry chicken. Great Idea. I love stir fry.

And fish. What kind is a popular, easy fish to pick out? I would definitely like to ease  into it by starting with fish.

haha yes, nocturne, starving is bad!

So aside from the starvation issue, anyone just sometimes feel exhausted with counting? Or feel like they are insane beceause no one else in their family/friends circle does?

rjong- I understand your point, and I'm glad to hear we can help people out of being mis informed!

But I am also glad to hear there are, of course, people consuming the right amounts and living in a healthy way I guess this just was easy to forget!

Thanks for the encouragment, I'm beginning to see the great pitfall of comparing yourself to others! But at least this forum has helped me feel a bit more reassured, which I guess we all need sometimes!

i'm glad I'm not the only one frustrated!

piffany- no I am not saying everyone who eats around 1000 is praised here on CC, I'm saying it just seems like so many people are close to that or arguing that its good, or only eat 1300 and to be honest is just makes me feel low and like I'm consuming some crazy amount!

And yes aio- i'm exhausted by all the counting too! Even if i don't write it down I find myself doing it in my head! And then comparing to what others are doing! I know its a fault on my character but just thought I'd share and see if others feel it too.

nocturne- i think it's good you try to help people not fall into this. I know last week I was eating 1400 a day and burning 600 working out, but its people like you who make me reconsider and feel better about consuming more for my body!

I'm thinking of stopping counting all together actually, or at least try to take a break from it.

I'd like help with this too! I love doing just cardio, I have to force myself to hit some strengthening/weights.. why do we need em if we get sore doing cardio?

tamalyn- Thank you so much for taking the time to reassure me. This past wee I've been consuming an average of 1600 and I've burned almost 600 everyday. But today I burned 600 and ate 1900! Hopefully my body will thank me for this change! It was easy today to reach the higher calorie mark because I had a dinner outting and its always easier to eat more things with higher calorie content when you are out to eat! Thanks again. I will always try to have a NET of 1200 calories!

I read this and it really made me stop and think. I'm not losing a lot of weight, only a few more pounds. I eat anywhere from 1300 to 1800 a day. But I almost always burn 400-600 during my workout. There are many days where I eat 1400 and burn 500. I had no idea I needed to think of these two numbers as working together, I thought they were separate.

So, if I'm burning 500 I should eat 1700?

I'm so glad you posted this! I hope I get this cleared up for myself.
