Foods At work.? What's in YOUR Lunchbox today? May 21 2008

Oooh, I love my lunchbox, and hate when I don't pack a lunch. I eat 5 meals a day, basically every 3 hours, so I bring 3 a day to work. Today, a little boring, they are all the same (one of each for each meal):

3 portions of garlic chicken breast (boneless, skinless, organic, and oh soo garlicy...yummm)

3 portions of broccoli

3 portions of salad (black olives, white beans, onions, geren peppers, radishes, cucumbers, carrots, scallions)

I drink water.

Needless to say, today my breath STINKS of garlic!!!!

Ugh, that drives me nuts about peppers! For a couple of weeks our local grocery store was having a sale and the red peppers were as cheap as the green ones. I got so spoiled buying loads of them, and then the price went back up, and I can't justify the rate I was buying them at...what a dissapointment!

Maintaining Anyone else crossed the line from health conscious to health nut? May 19 2008

narfblast - I'm glad you said that. When my DH and I started eating organic and more healthily, we started saving a bunch of money on weekly groceries. For us, it really is cheaper to eat better because what we buy is more filling, so we buy less of it. We also go to a local food co-op, which is wonderful, and less expensive than whole foods.

In the past 2 years, 3 of my sisters have been pregnant a total of 4 times between them. They all LOVE and SWEAR BY the belly band. They have plain black ones, and you can unbutton your pants, and use that to cover the top, and also then your belly doesn't show under your shirt if the shirt is a little short. I'm not sure where they bought them, but I kind of want one for myself, and I'm not even preggo!

Do you know how to crochet? I love to do it because it keeps your hands busy but you can still watch TV or talk with someone. Plus, there are lots of great gifts that can be made!

My hairdresser told me this is normal. In fact, on a side note, when I had extensions put in she told me that when the extensions came out it would seem like they were pulling out a lot of hair, but actually all the hair that would have normally fallen out was trapped in the braids and so would all come out at once. Just a natural part of life.

I'm American, so I must be fat, rude, talk on my cell phone EVERYWHERE, unsophisticated, self-righteous, stupid, and only speak english. I'm sure there are many more I missed.......

I am totally my mother in so many ways. I now commute to work with her, and that's made me realize just how much I am like her, and this is especially funny since we spent the last 4 years living across the country from each other!

Molly, your care package story reminded me of myself. My younger sister is still in college and just did a year studying in Costa Rica. Every Saturday I sent her a care package. Sometimes just with letters, but I usually added in a bunch of fun little things, and not only did she love them, but all of her classmates did too! It's so much fun to send care packages.

Good Morning! 1 Mile for me today. My mileage has been low lately because my gym just started offering spinning classes, which I have been trying out. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I definately don't like it as much as running, but it's also nice to change things up a bit, so I'm going to try it for a little while longer.
Motivation Any Apple Shapes Lose Their Stomach Fat? Apr 25 2008

I am an apple shape with big boobs too, and I am at a healthy weight (5'-4", 127 pounds), I don't really have stomach fat now...borderline though. When I was heavier, at about 135 I had definite stomach fat. The only way I have ever completely gotten rid of it has been to be at a low weight, although since I have been weight lifting, my weight doesn't need to be quite as low because of the muscle I have built. Unfortunately, I think that's just the way it is for us folks, fat has to leave all the other body parts before it hits the stomach area (I even went down 2 bra sizes).

Are there other people in the association who feel the same way as you do? If so, could all of you together go and speak to the president, so that it doesn't look like just you causing a scene?

I would probably try to do something about it, but I am not the kind of person to just stand by and let things go (not always a good trait). It's hard to say though without details.

Good morning, 3.5 glorious outside miles for me today!

I second the opinion to go to a specialty running store. I just got new shoes that way, and they first watched me walk without shoes on, then we talked about how I run for about 10 minutes, then he brought out a couple of pairs of shoes, all of which I ran in on their treadmill while he watched, then we discussed them from there. It was such a great experience, he made me aware of things I'd never even thought about. Also, a friend of mine pointed out that once you know what shoes you like you can usually find them online for less money. So, you pay for the first pair, but then can find them for less expensive. Totally worth it.
