| Thanks for the warm welcome!
Colleen- I was working as a teaching assistant in a couple of French schools and taking a few classes to finish my French major. It was a great experience and I recommend that if you ever have the opportunity to live abroad to definitely do it. Or just make an opportunity for yourself! : ) There are few work abroad programs for US citizens that you're eligible for until you're 30 and some until you're 35. I don't know why they have an age requirement but they do! Well, I worked out today for an hour and hit my goal of 500 calories. Now, I just have to not gorge tonight! |

| Hey guys! I joined the 140/130s club awhile ago when I was living in France and finding it hard to stay away from the pastries. Well, I'm back in the States now and still finding it hard to stay away from yummy sweets. I gained back all the weight I lost...and then some. : (
I'm finally ready to start back my weight loss after a brief setback. I know how supportive this group is so I'm excited to be back on here with all of you! Unicat- Wow, you look amazing! The progress you've made is fantastic and you must be so proud of yourself. Great job! |

| Teenwolf- I'm so impressed that you fit in workouts during your vacation! Good for you!
On a similar note, I'm leaving for Italy on Wednesday and I won't be back for 10 days. I want to continue losing but I've set a goal of just .5 - 1 lb. I'm hoping that all the walking I'm going to do (some w/ a huge pack on my back) will help fight all the delicious gelato and carbonara I'll be eating. Here's to good eating and exercising this week! |

| Hey everyone! I think I'm finally over my cold...thank goodness! I was really miserable there for awhile and despite doing no activity and eating more than I think I should have...I'm down to 140.8 lbs!! Since I don't have a scale at my place, I have to walk to my friend's apartment everytime I want to weigh myself. I can't be consistent w/ the times as I have to work around her schedule so I'm never certain how accurate the reading is. For example, I weighed myself this evening and the previous time I weighed-in during the morning.
So I'm not sure if I lost the weight before my cold or during or both! I just want to make sure it doesn't come immediately back on. I'm sooo close to breaking the 140 barrier!! Srd- I'm a sucker for the cake batter and brownie as well. My mouth watered when i read your post! Thank goodness there's no cold stone here or I might have gone straight out to buy a cup! Good job on the weights ladies! Keep up the hard work! |

| Ok girls, I need some motivation. I have a really bad cold and I'm actually a little depressed. I really wanted to have an almost "boot camp-esque" week. I'm leaving for Italy next week and I won't be able to go swimming or running. There will also be really good food to tempt me. I just feel like this cold couldn't have come at a worse time.
So now I'm wrapped up in bed w/ my tomato soup reading about everyone losing weight! : ( |

| No, that would be like hosting a barbeque for a vegetarian. Whenever you throw a party for someone, you should take into consideration their wants. It was afterall YOUR party.
That isn't too say that just b/c you're on a diet everything there has to be low cal or low fat BUT there should have been SOMETHING there that you could have enjoyed! I'm sorry that your birthday at work wasn't enjoyable for you. Hopefully, the people that really matter in your life did a better job! I'm really proud of you for staying strong during the party though. That's great willpower and you should be proud of yourself too! Keep up the great work! |

| Just wanted to share something w/ everyone. I don't know if you've heard about a study they did w/ weight loss and high calcium diets but I'm a firm believer now. Apparently a high calcium diet (not calcium supplements...has to be in food form) targets fat around the middle. Yogurt in particular has proven to be the most effective b/c of the cultures in it. I know Yoplait has been running a campaign about it for awhile.
Anyway, I've been eating at least one serving of yogurt everyday for the past two months and I really can tell the difference. My stomach is usually the last place I lose my weight. It's been that way my whole life. But I swear it looks like the waist I had in the mid 130s. Alright, just wanted to share that w/ anyone who hadn't heard about it yet or was doubtful...like I used to be. |

| Hey everyone!
5'6 3/4" and 143 lbs. I'd like to be down to 125 lbs but I'm not sure that's going to be possible. I weighed that my freshman year of college but I had just gotten over mono and I had lost a significant amount of muscle mass. Soo.....we'll see! I'll see what I look like once I hit 130 and then reevaluate my goals. |

| Kiigan- Good tip! I think my profile pics should be accessible now. So are you 1/2 Japanese? I'm 1/4 Japanese. My mom was born in Tokyo while my grandpa was stationed there during the Korean War. Sadly my Japanese isn't up to par. I took a semester in college but I don't think I'll ever be fluent.
The two weeks I spent in Japan were the healthiest two weeks of my life! It was like going through a detox program! LOL! 7 cups of green tea a day, seaweed, miso soup and unprocessed food....I felt like a new person. Congrats on the weightloss as well!! |

| Ok, the goal for this week is to swim 3 times, bicycle 3 times and start running again! I put up some pics finally if anyone is interested. I tried to choose ones that actually show how heavy I was at 155. B/c I'm so tall, I can hide my weight gain a little more easily.
The picture w/ me in a dress looks more impressive than I actually am at this point. My body is very top heavy (which I've become an expert at concealing...especially the big tummy!) So don't be fooled! I still have alot of weight to lose! Another goal of mine is to lose 2 1/2 lbs by April 3rd. Because I'm meeting some friends in Italy for Spring Break and Italy is the place that I first gained my weight at. I just couldn't resist the wonderful pasta, pizza and gelato! I need to lose weight before I go and just try to maintain it while I'm there! Good luck to everyone this week! |

| Unicat- Good job on staying strong in front of the pizza! I took a look at your photo collage again. I know I've said this before but your pictures are such a great motivation for me!
My friends and I have a tradition that on Saturday nights we go to breakfast after all the pubs have closed. So, technically, it's early Sunday morning. The menu is very limited and I used to get a ham and cheese omelette and potato wedges. I still can't resist going to breakfast w/ them but I ordered just a cheese omelette this time and only ate half of my potato wedges. I think I may have still gone over my calories for the day but at least I'm making some small strides right? However, should I count those calories for Sunday or Saturday? Any thoughts? |

| Teenwolf- Thank you! That site confirmed my suspicions...one piece of flan from the store is half my calories for the day! Yikes! It's easier to just be in denial about the calories until you actually type in the number of grams and see the result.
No more flan for me!! |

| My dad is a history teacher and I can't remember a single vacation that didn't involve visiting a Civil War site. I've spent two Fourth of July's in Gettysburg!
Good luck to you! I'm rooting for you and I know you can do it!! Congratulations on taking this step! |

| Ok, Flan...
Flan is sort of a solid custard pastry. It's vanilla flavored and wonderful! LOL! It's usually in pie form. There's an episode of Friends where Monica makes flan for Rachel's birthday. I can't remember what season....sorry. I have to stop talking about it though b/c my goal for tomorrow is to not buy a piece! I feel really connected to everyone as well. I'm so glad I found CC b/c whenever I start to feel like I can't lose the weight, I just hop online and I get an instant "pick-me-up"! |

| Yes, I absolutely have some ideas! I think highlighting would be beautiful. Just remember that the frame of your face should have slightly lighter highlights and a few more than the rest of your hair.
Nothing says glamour like curls. I think loose curls around your face or even pulled back in a beautiful clip would be nice. I found a picture of Meg Ryan, who has the same length of hair as you, with curls. www.short-hair-care.com/shorthairstyles.htm Hope I helped! I won't be offended if you don't take my advice though! LOL! Can't wait to see the pics of you dolled up! |

| Buffalo Wild Wings is the thing I crave most from the US. Really good sushi is also at the top of my list!
Brigette- I really enjoyed your before and after photos! I agree that you should not let your husband see the dress. Wait until you've had your hair and make-up done and it takes his breath away. You really looked gorgeous! Ok, now for the not so good news. I went to the grocery store today after my swim. I had the intention of just buying what I needed for dinner and getting out of there. But I gave in to temptation and bought a piece of flan. I know it's bad for me but I need to know just HOW bad. The CC was a bit confusing. Does anyone know how many calories are in flan? It was roughly the size of a big piece of pumpkin pie. *ashamed* BUT I felt so guilty that after dinner I went on a 45 minute walk and I went up every hill/stair I came across. |

| I'm so glad this topic has come up! I'm currently a D cup but I should naturally be a C if I was at my ideal weight. I've very concerned that I won't be perky anymore once I lose weight. I'm almost 23 years old and I've been overweight for about two years. Can anyone w/ similar stats give me some feedback? I'd love to hear from anyone who has lost the weight, kept it off and how your chest has faired through all of it! | |||

| Thanks for the warm welcome and advice about my activity level to everyone who responded! The part of France that I live in has just gotten a freak snow storm after weeks of sunny, 50 degree weather. I'm not going to let it derail my workouts though! I've decided to go to the indoor pool today and then climb the stairs in my apartment complex! Now I just have to avoid the bakeries.. | |||

| I just joined the community and I'm so happy that I found what seems to be a really great support group. I'm currently at 145 lbs and my goal weight is 125 lbs.
I just set up my profile and I'm confused as to what activity level I should put. I've started doing an hour of cardio (running/walking and swimming) at least 4 times per week but my intention is to log all of that seperately. Should I put sedentary or moderate activity level then? I'm currently working in France and aside from the cardio I do, my days are not very strenuous. Of course, I do have to walk pretty much everywhere I go! Thanks to the French transportation workers always going on strike! LOL! Any advice is appreciated! So happy to be here! |
