Weight Loss Women: Maintaining breast size while losing weight? Jun 22 2007

Girl, I only wish I could lose some of mine with my weight loss.  I am a 38DD and no matter how much I lose, mine won't shrink!  A couple of years ago, I was a D cup and I lost a very unhealthy 25 pounds (got down to 105) and was still a D.  But when I gained the weight back, I went up a cup size!!!
Weight Loss whats your fav "fill me up" meal? Jun 21 2007

Mine is either fish (salmon is my FAVORITE!) with a sweet potato and veggies, or 4 oz of Barilla whole wheat angel hair pasta with a can of tomato sauce (I add my own herbs) and steamed carrots or brocolli.  Both are VERY filling and delicious!
Motivation binginggg.. Jun 21 2007
15:13 (UTC)
All I can say is that I used to do the same thing, and it was very hard to break the cycle.  I would go 1 day eating the bare minimum, then the next, not be able to stick with 1200 cals and end up having a massive all day binge.  I wanted to up my daily calorie intake, but was scared to because I figured I would still binge anyway.  But upping my daily intake is what ultimately stopped the binge cycles.  Make sure you are eating enough, and if you aren't, up the calories.  You may not immediately be able to stop the binging, but it DOES get easier.  At least, it did for me.  Hope this helps!
Fitness Does Sweating Help Burn Fat? Jun 20 2007

I feel like the act of sweating during exercise is a sort of a judge of one's heart rate.  If your heart rate is high, you are definitely going to be sweating.  We always hear about working out and getting the heart rate up, and the longer your heart rate is elevated, the more calories you are going to burn. So when I work out, I just try to work up a good sweat!

OOH! I beat you guys with being out of motivation.  It's been 3 months for me and I've lost a whopping 5 pounds!  It's like even if it took me longer than I hoped (20 pounds by October, started at 152, now at 147), I could stick with it if I KNEW I would get there.  But I'm having doubts about EVER reaching my goal, because I lost those 5 pounds within the first 3 weeks and have been on a plateau ever since!

I definitely feel your pain!  I'm a 38DD and I hate it!  It is so hard to find decent clothes and bras.  I always feel like people are looking at my chest (even women) and not at ME!  I've had many smaller chested girls tell me that they want my boobs, and I always say, if you had them, you wouldn't want them (real ones anyways).  Ladies who wish they had big boobs don't realize that they aren't like fake (I call them inflatable) ones.  These things are heavy and are just a pain in the rear to have basically!  I wouls much rather have small ones.  You can always make small boobs look bigger (Wonderbra), but you can't do anything to make big boobs look smaller!

Thank you so much for your posts!  Even though I was never looking for a quick fix, I guess I was getting frustrated that I'm not losing the weight faster!  But you guys are right - I'm going to be happer about how far I've come thus far, and just keep it up!

Mine is Tyra Banks.  She looks gorgeous at the weight she is today (around 160 I think).  And she doesn't give a darn what bad things some people have to say about her!  She has a very postive attitude and super self-esteem and that's what I need more of myself!
Weight Loss How Accurate is BMI? May 30 2007
21:41 (UTC)
I went to the doctor last year because I thought I had a thyroid problem, but it was fine, but I told him I was concerned about my weight.  We got to talking about BMI, and he told me he did not think it was a very reliable tool.  (I think he called it archaic).  But I am curious to know anyone else's thoughts!

You guys are right. However, I just keep thinking BMI, BMI, BMI!!!!! According to the scale, I am only 3 pounds away from being overweight, and that still frustrates me because of all the hard work I am putting in.

I work out 5 days a week:

-3x's a week for 1 hour on the elliptical

-2x's a week doing aerobic walking (fast) videos with weights or resistance bands

I hope I'm just exchanging fat for muscle. But who knows just because I'm not new to working out.  I've been working out 5-6 days a week for 2 years now!

I also zig zag my calories taking in between 1200-1700.
Foods Fat Day!!! May 25 2007

I guess if you can limit "fat days" to once a month or whatever, and get right back on the wagon the next day, then it's not too bad.  Just don't make a habit out of it like I did!  1 "fat day" a month soon led to twice a month, then once a week, then twice a week, then every other day...Not good.  So personally, I am kind of scared to let myself have a day like that again.  I still give in every now and then, but I limit it to just that.  I don't make a whole day out of it.
Foods CHOCAHOLICS???! :) can you go 1 day w/o chocolate? May 24 2007
21:47 (UTC)

I used to have to have chocolate everyday, but now I don't.  It is probably because I was ALLOWING myself to have some chocolate everyday instead of banning it altogether.  Even though I still love it, I think after a while, I just sort of got tired of eating it everyday.

I buy just plain tomato sauce and add my own herbs (oregano and basil).  The whole can is roughly 50 calories.

Kylee - The 3 proteins you named are my 3 main proteins also!  Those are definitely the most convenient.  What about milk?  I know Hood also makes a 90 calorie chocolate milk.  I know eggs really aren't that convenient, but I love them scrambled and in omlets!  Ohh!!! I just thought of another one.  What I eat for a snack at night...pudding! The kind you make yourself.  2 servings has a cup of milk in it and approximately 140 calories.  I know Special K makes a high protein cereal, around 120 calories.

I've wondered about the same thing.  I love rotisserie chicken!  I always thought they were pretty healthy, but then my mom said she heard that some places inject their rotisserie chickens with butter!  I don't know if this is true or not, but I've stopped eating them since.
Foods Olive oil May 24 2007
18:49 (UTC)
It's like I know and understand the health benefits of using olive oil, but...IT'S JUST SO HIGH IN CALORIES!! I think it's hard to eat something like that when your counting calories.  I don't know about you guys, but I like to really EAT my calories, instead of barely drizzling them on a salad or whatever!  I would rather get my healthy fats in by eating things like fish, nuts, or peanut butter, which I do.  I don't ever eat olive oil unless I order a meal at a restarant and it's in that.

I eat a grilled cheese at least once a week!  I love them!  And I especially love dunking pieces into the chicken noodle soup that I always eat with it!

I make mine with 2, 2% singles (100 cals) (I use american, pepperjack or swiss, and all are delicous).  The bread I use is Aunt Millies, or some other kind that is 35 cals a slice, so 70 cals there....170 total!  I spray the bread with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray.  SOOOOOO CHEESY AND YUMMY!!!!!

I also say depo is the devil!! It didn't cause me to gain weight, and it actually made my appetite go away, but I instead had a constant heavy period that lasted 5 straight months! I've been on about 4 other kinds of bc since, and they all had different effects on me (dryness, spotting, infections) but I didn't gain any weight from them.
Weight Loss How much weight to lose a dress size? May 01 2007

I've been faithfully counting calories for 6 weeks, and only lost 4 pounds, but I have dropped at least 1 size, maybe 2!  It's weird how some of us SEE weight loss on the scale but don't feel it in our clothes, and others are the total opposite!
Weight Loss Weight Watchers Apr 26 2007
21:40 (UTC)
Weight Watchers did not work for me, but it did work for my mom even though she wasn't really even overweight when she started doing it.  I feel like it can work more easily for people that have a lot of weight to lose, or it can work depending on the kinds of foods you eat.

This is the reason why I think it didn't work for me:  I chose to eat many low point foods enstead of foods with larger point values.  And I think the reason why I only lost a few pounds is because it all came down to calorie intake.

For example: an apple is 1 point (low in fat high in fiber), 80 cals.  A Lean Cuisine meal averages around 7 or 8 points (higher in fat)and say 300 calories.

You could use 8 points eating nothing but apples and that would be 640 calories, or a frozen meal for 8 points with only 300 something calories.  See what I mean???
Fitness excercise in the morning or evening Apr 26 2007
20:58 (UTC)
During the week, I work out in the evening, but on weekends, it's late morning.  I really don't notice a difference between them, but I use to exercise earlier in the morning and I felt like I had less energy for my workouts than when I would exercise later in the day.
Foods What Do YOU Eat For Breakfast ? Apr 26 2007
20:36 (UTC)
13
Monday through Friday, I eat 1 packet of weight control oatmeal (160 cals), and 3 pieces wheat toast with sugar-free raspberry preserves (140 cals).

Saturday and Sunday, I switch it up.  I include some kind of cereal (cherrios, Special K with berries, etc) and milk, with either oatmeal, fruit, or toast.  Varies between 350 and 500 cals.

I also eat a lot of breakfast type foods for dinner.  I love omlets and french toast with sugar free syrup!!! YUM!!

I pick all the crust off my sandwiches with my fingers and eat it first, then tear off pieces of the rest of the sandwich.  I do the same if it's a bun. I go around the outside picking it off and eating it first before eating the middle part. I never actually BITE into a sandwich.

Also, when I eat soup, I drink all the broth first then eat the veggies next, and then I eat the meat and noodles.
