Fitness Heart rate monitor question May 25 2007

I have one, and it seems pretty accurate on calorie count WHen you're working out. If you leave it on all day, you'll get a number like, 6500 calories burned a day. Clearly not right.

The problem, me thinks is that it assumes you're using muscle as in a workout,so even if you've got a resting heart rate, etc etc.

Still, I worked it out mentally for resting heart rate, and thought 1400 a day wasn't far off.

I started with a Champion from Target, but I definitely like the polar better...and it's true, I don't even feel the chest strap.

The bad side effect is that now I want to work out even more lately....lol

Maybe, maybe not. May I suggest to you that since it only takes 5 days to lose it, that it may be intestinal weight? I've noticed on my eat more days that I'll gain a couple pounds, but it all comes out in the end...lol.

personally, I don't care what or how much you eat, but it's a thought. I definitely don't agree with everything I've read here. (don't want to give you the impression that I'm one of those famine response people)

cheers!

Weight Loss breast feeding and weight loss May 20 2007

i breastfed through only one child at 40. I was completely exhausted from feeding all the time. (loved every second, even the milk blisters...lol(

Be careful, where you can, with overdoing the exercise and calorie thing, if only cause a fast drop in cals or a fast gain in exercise can drop bad tastes into your milk, sometimes setting off colic in the babe. And NOBody wants a cranky, can't sleep baby.

Seriously though, give yourself a couple more months. You've got a lot on your plate. By six months, the babe will be feeding much less, you can get some sleep, and your milk will undergo another change.

And gods yes. I have been having a much harder time losing weight this time around. It's like I'm working three times as hard as I did 5 years ago. My body underwent a massive estrogen injection...lol.

Good luck. Let it go a bit, if only for your own sanity.

Weight Loss HELP!!!! I'm at a halt in weight loss! May 20 2007

I went through that at 202. Nothing for 2 weeks. Then all of a sudden, blam. It's started going down again. You're almost there. Hang on.

I attributed mine to a muscle build. I started biking, and things pretty hard. Lost a ton of inches, but no "weight"

I just hit my two month mark Saturday. anyhow, now at 196, so hold tough! It's on the way.

Fitness Calorie counting AND working out..? May 19 2007

I've read it's about 90min. Read that here somewhere. Of course it's true, but in this case, you've got to have a natural handle on the meaning of "vigorous" exercise, and have yourself trained to eat well.

For myself, I'm trying to train myself to both eat well naturally, and train regularly. I used to have a job that took care of my "workouts". Now that I don't, I've found I have to actually exercise...lol

Vigorous has a special meaning in exercise, and it's pretty much a sustained effort at a sustained heart level. Not as easy to accomplish as the casual exerciser would think.

and that's what I think

Weight Loss Losing weight, but still not healthy. May 14 2007

keep at it Jay. You're doing fine. I was similar. Hadn't done anything really since before pregnant with my first child...and I moved out of the fast food heaven of the country, so I had a HARD time getting my lifestyle change started.

Keep thinking, writing, researching. It will pay off.

As for the walk thing. Think about it for a few weeks. Look at how many calories it'll burn, AND go ahead and hit your Mcdonalds, until you, yourself realize that it's not really much bang for your buck afterall. :)

I totally got the religion one day when I saw how much salad I could eat for the price of a small burger...not even with fries! lol

chug on man! Don't be shamed.

Weight Loss Calorie-Counter is telling me to eat more calories than i already am! May 06 2007

To be honest,  I think it's the binges. If you're binging once a week you can be adding in a ton of calories that you're not realizing.

I've been trying to realize that it's a week's worth of calories that determine my weightloss and not simply a day.

The general wisdom of this board is that a simple binge won't undo all the work, and it won't....unless that binge is coming on a regular basis. (say once a week to 10 days)

I think that's how you're messing yourself up. That, and it looks like you're seeing the hidden calories of salads now, so I'll bet  things get better.

And like I've told my friends, those with 5-10lbs to lose have to work Much harder than those us us with 50 to lose.

luck!

..but 30lbs in 6 months? That's like 5 lbs a month. Surely that's not even close to excessive. In fact, I believe it's recommended.

I'm not sure I really get the problem. Seems to me the body is more flexible than 24hr gains and deficits.

Ah well, that's why I keep reading

I'm not sure that I saw this one, but....

Get ONE nice thing the next size down, and put it somewhere that you can see it. I've finally reached the next size down jeans, and it sure was nice taking down from my closet door.

:)

Underwear counts too! I'm down a size in underwear.

Still try and change the battery. Mine did that, like, the second week we got it. I changed the battery, and it's been good since.

Weight Loss how much cal? Mar 29 2007

I'm guessing you should eat your diet cals again. Just as one day of bingeing doesn't put it on, a day of fasting won't take it off.

Go back to recommended cals
