avoiding added sugar is totally ok. Just be very cautious about developing new bad habits. If you have some sugar don't get in a funk about it. Every day is a little different and your wants and needs for each day is different. the danger is obsessively avoiding sugar and building shame complexes and unhealthy thoughts. |

try drinking more water. Also, I've heard that good muscle tone can sometimes make cellulite more obvious if you are prone to it. Its genetic, go punch your mom in the butt in gratitude. |

definately water your self as much as possible. Umm... i've heard that pumpkin and sweet potatoe can be good for this. I understand you reservations about OTC's but if you go more than 4-5 days without a movement or if you start to get a sharp pain in your lower left abdomen you should go ahead and do it just this one time. That pain would be your sigmoid colon asking for you to please please help it because it is full to to point of pain, which can be damaging if you let it go unchecked. |

Walking does seem to help sometimes. When i'm traveling i do try to walk some everyday because i have seen that help, but for some reason I haven't thought of it for when I am home. Well spotted, I'll add it to the arsenal next time I start to have a problem. |

maybe there is a nutrient in the burrito that you don't get much of from other palces so your body is asking for it. I had that happen one time when I accidentally switched to uniodized salt. I was craving peanut butter so bad. Turned out it was the only thing in the house with iodized salt in it. Cravings quieted down after I switched back to iodized salt. |

| Weight Loss | Full Fat or Low Fat | Sep 17 2009 02:59 (UTC) |

I like full fat cheese but i primarily stick to soft goat cheeses which are only around 70 cal/oz and only 5.5g fat. I also drink lowfat or skimmed milk and eat nonfat greek yogurt (stir in my own fruit, less sugar that way). Mostly I just pick the leanest meats, fresh veggies and fruits and things. I don't eat very many reduced fat or "diet" foods, mostly becasue i find the food I make more flavorful and filling. I do like diet soda though, and will have 2-3 a week. Speaking in general, except for milk and yogurt, I just eat the regular stuff, just the best stuff i can find :). |

Sounds like you are doing a good job trying to phase out too much red meat and getting good cuts. bravo to you. Have you tried ostrich? it is not always easy to find but you can buy it frozen online. It is like super lean, high protien chicken breast nutrition wise but tastes and loks like lean steak. You can have around 6-7 oz for under 200 calories. So delightful. I love meat. I had a nice filet tonight. fantastic. |

| Weight Loss | what is your opinion about free weekends to eat whatever | Sep 16 2009 02:38 (UTC) |
6 |
I dunno about eating free both days on the weekend, but one day could be fine. I have one free day a week followed by a fasting day (~ 900-1100 calories) and then my 5 controlled days (1200-1500 calories). I strongly advise consciously balancing your free eating day in the sense of if you load up on carbs one meal, have a yummy meat and vegetables at another and make a deal with your self to only have X number of "treats" like alcohol, desserts etc. I lost ~100 pounds doing this. I do want to tell you though, that I might weigh less if I didn't do this, but allowing myself the freedom to do this has allowed me to continue to lose/maintain for more than 4 years now. It is humane to give yourself indulgences sometimes. |

the biggest suggestion I can give you is to not eat processed food much. The more you make things at home the less "accidental" sugar and sodium you will get. I try very hard to only get sugar from fruit and milk so saying under 50 g is not very hard for me. More than 50g isn't too much of a problem in general as long as it is coming form natural food sources (fruit, milk, veggies). |

| Weight Loss | another question about loose skin | Sep 03 2009 02:28 (UTC) |
5 |
Long story short... if you have stretch marks, that skin will never be as tight as it would have been if you had not been heavier before. Over time (years sometimes for maximim retraction) your skin does recover alot as long as you don't have other fators like peniculi or poor circulation, but once it is stretched it will never be the sacme. |

| Weight Loss | darnit if ya could take a look at this...(its the food i ate after the workout) | Sep 03 2009 02:23 (UTC) |

I don't think your eating was excessive nessasarily. With all that working out you probably needed it. I'm a little concerned about the length of your work outs though. Even with breaks and food and good hydration that is a very long time to be working out. I don't remeber where I heard this (from my trainer I think) but I think that your body tends to peak at around 1-2 hours of working out and anything you do after that time doesn't do nearly as much for you and greatly increases the time it takes for your body to recover completely. I don't know what your exact goals are so I won't give you any hard advice other than to suggest you look into optimal training durations and intensities in order to reach your goals. I also agree with pbear999 in that while a subway sandwich and turkey meat are nutritious they are sort of like "healthy junk food" meaning the lesser evil choice when time or supply is short. Probably better to make your own sandwich with tuna, olive oil and vinegar or something to bring with you if you can. That's my 2 cents. :) |

just the part you eat. peel/core first and weigh or weigh whole and then weight the remnants. after you do it for long enough you get good at guestimating. can do it within 5-10 grams alot of the time. the figure out calories per gram just use divition. if 100 grams has 90 calories than each gram has .9 calories, for instance. |

about 148 pounds, 5 foot 2 inches tall. Wear mostly 8's or 10's, some 12's, one or two pairs of 6's. Wear a small on top usually (no boobs). I'm like a happy little elf, can't help it. Also, my waist is 31 inches, my hips are 41 inches and my thighs are 25 inches each. |

| Weight Loss | Fat girls...Pretty Faces? | Jul 31 2009 00:44 (UTC) |
42 |
I have noticed that many overweight ladies have pretty faces. The few heavy women I've noticed who I didn't think were nice looking had one of a few things going on which could affect anyone. They have either had an illness such as a glandular problem that caused facial hair and/or bad acne, they have the general look of poor health or hygeine such as decaying teeth, thin or lifeless hair or overall bad coloring (like grey and yellow), or they have simply fallen victim to genetics which made them quite homely. Having a few extra pounds on your frame does seem to add a vitality to someone, giving them a rosey, pleasant and pretty look. And of course, people at all weights are pretty and not pretty. I'm funny in that I think people who are very plain are really attractive. Clean hair and skin, healthy teeth, no or minimal make-up. I think we are all a little biased toward people who look like us. Me and my mom (who I think is lovely) are very plain with gray eyes, fair skin and soft proportional features. |

Pb2 is good. I don't reconstitute it, i just chew the powder and let the nuttiness full my mouth. I wish it wasn't sweetened and it is not the same as the real thing but it is really good in protien shakes. |

I vote for tampon and liner. I don't do cardio and I can see how that would maybe shift or chaff with a pad. What I'm bothered by more is the fact that I sweat more during my period. I have hyperhidrosis as it is and the tons of weird smelling period sweat really gross me out. I used to wear pads only all the time but I can't anymore because the moisture close to my skin caused problems. So anyway, tampon and liner. |

Yeah, I have had too big too. Ideal for me is around 7 inches and a width that would allow me to touch my fingertps if put my ahnd aroud it. I think that would be considered medium maybe upper average? Smallish is better that too big, there can be lots of nice maneuvering and playing around with styles. When it was too big it was sorta fun at the time but then my insides would go into spasms and I would get cramps and back pain like 30 minutes later. No fun. |

definately go see the doctor. Try to get in the habit of eating nourishing foods and if you are worried about you fat, eat more and exercise more. Putting on a few pounds of muscle but remaing the same weight is the way to resolve the body fat perentage thing. Trying to "lose weight" is probably a bad idea. I wish you so much luck and a long healthy life. Take care of and cherish yourself. :) |

Full Name: Amy Cohn Age: 28 Hometown: Atlanta how much weight lost: 100lbs your surprising tip(s): 1.) 6 days of strick discipline, one day of anything goes 2.) Listen to your body. Not just for cues for hunger but for what foods your body really likes and needs. For me, grains, sugar and alcohol are not any good and give me GI symptoms; fat is my total friend I can eat 2-3 times as many calories from fat as carbs and not fluctuate in weight at all and my tummy is very happy. 3.) The hardest part of losing weight is redefining yourself as "not fat". It changes the way people treat you. I forces you to shop places you never have before. Old stereotypes are replaced by new ones. It is a very odd and awkward transition. |

I've heard of the book and have picked it up a few times because it is so surprising seeing all the nutrition alid out for some of the foods. I have lost around 100 pounds but didn't use the book :( It could have been fun talking about my experiences, especially since I've been able to maintain for a couple years now. Oh, well. I will have to look for the article when it comes out, I hope there is an announcement on calorie-count about it. |

yeah sandwiches are good meals as long as you don't go insane with the condiments. You could add ground beef or ground turkey to your tomatoe sauce for your pasta. Turkey is healthy for the most part. you could cook up a breast of turkey, eat some on day and use the rest for sandwiches and in salads for the next 2-3 days. |

I know what you mean about the leftovers. I only cook for myself so I have to be sure to never cook more than 1-2 portions. Cooking single servings of pasta is pretty easy. So is making a bowl of cereal or oatmeal for dinner. that and some fruit or some nuts an you have a decent meal. Also, do you like granola? it is rich without being too filling. Don't know about meatloaf, I've never had it. |

I vote for going for the cold fish options, they don't smell as strong. Otherwise I would say that you should just go ahead and eat as you please. other people's food smells gross too alot of the time. Just be considerate with your wrappers or containers and seal them up or throw them away somewhere where they won't keep letting off fish smell. |

Almond butter is very yummy. It does sound like you are a bit strick with your self. No nessasarily a bad thing. Avocados are yummy too. If I were wanting to add more calories without too much bulk I would probably have a sliced banana with peanut butter and honey on it. Its my favorite. Do you like eggs? One real egg mixed with some eggwhites and some yummy cheese and veggies makes a really delicious omlet, not too high in cholesterol. :) |

I have a job around tasty treats too. Hmm.. these are a couple of things I try to do. Brush your teeth after lunch, drink unsweetened mint herbal tea, chew gum (mint is a favorite flavor of mine and a big eating deterant) and the one I find helps me the most... ge tthe heck outta there as soon as you are done working. Idle time lets the devil in. |
