Hey there, I would suggest adding things like black beans, red beans and chickpeas to salads/stews/soups etc. Almonds, avacado and sunflower seeds are also great additions. Also, Quinoa and Brown Rice are great complex, non-processed carb sources with a large amount of calories per serving. I've recently been baking my own whole wheat bread. I know whats in it, (no chemicals, Xantham Gum etc) and it's delish! |

| Some people consider themselves vegetarian because of moral reasons, and some people only because of health reasons. Not everyone that is a veg cares about saving animals necessarily. Therefore, they don't get too much into labeling, which is kind of silly anyway. | |||

| Agreed, it has a lot to do with how you dress. Basically, for any fabric that is touching your skin cotton is a big NO!! I have an UnderArmour shirt that I wear under a t-shirt or thermal hoodie and that has been doing a fantastic job. And it's not gettin any warmer in Boston thats for sure!! |

BUT, i am going to my cousins pool today, and that usually means a few cold ones...And I know they will be breaking out the chips. I will just have to stay strong!! I'll just stay in the pool and swim. Haha... This weekend is shaping up to be a booze fest too.. |

| Wow, good job! I had an "off" weekend if you will...I didn't really eat healthy and drank a ton of beer...I went out to bars Friday and Saturday to see some friends bands play. Friday night about 6 of us came back to my house after the show and somehow consumed 2, not one but TWO bags of potato chips. Drunk eating is a dangerous thing!! I didn't go too out of control really, just wasn't on my usual eating program..But, my BF just bought me a yoga ball that im pretty pumped about. The most killer ab workouts Ive ever done have been using the ball. I'm only weighing myself every two weeks, so next monday I will have an update...**gulps and sweats a little from nerves** |

| Thanks. Def NOT a boyfriend. He is a good friend of mine and my boyfriend and some other mutual friends. I've known him since high school. Thanks for the concern though. It's one thing to question a friend, if it was a S/O there would be no more questions, I would be out of there!! Its just frustrating trying to level with him rationally, and having him lie to my face. His mother and sister totally enable him too. I mean, his sister just won't speak to him, but his mother must just ignore it or something..He lives in her house in a third floor apartment... I don't get it..I guess there is nothing I really CAN do if he won't even admit he is using... |

| Bodyscience, i think we would all like to know what the better fat burners are!! lol :) I used to take Xenedrine back when it had ephedra, and yes! It certainly helped me lose weight. However, the longer I was on it, the more I had to take to get the same effect. And the headaches once I stopped were def severe. (it did work though!) |

| Thank you all for your very helpful info! RE: the "women's section" it's really not offensive at all...Basically, its another room off the back of the women's locker room with some equipment and a rack of dumbells. Some women don't feel comfortable doing the thigh machines (opening and closing their legs) in front of a bunch of dudes. Especially the older women. I'm not REQUIRED to use that area, I was just pointing out that given the option (IE if they have the same gear as the general weight room) i would rather go in there. But they don't. Thats all!! I think its actually quite considerate that they have that area, and im pretty grrrly..So go fig... :) I will just have to suck it up and deal with the grunting meat heads..lol... Thanks again! |

| That IS a great link! I def bookmarked that one. SO, a couple of questions for ye wise weightlifters... I'm in pretty good shape right now, just about 10 pounds to lose. I go to the gym and jog regularly. I do use the weight machines when im at the gym, but I'm not always sure on how much weight to put on. I try to increase it every time I go, but, is there a standard as to how much you should increase? 2 pounds? 10 pounds? Also, as much as I hate to admit this, I get a bit intimidated by the free weight room so I shy away... There are only free weights up to 20 lb dumbells in the "womens" section. Is it better to use machines vs free weights? Is it worse? the same?? Any guidance is appreciated, as I would like to get into lifting more. Thanks! kat :) |

| Clif Bar!! The pretzels have no nutrients or vitamins. Eat the clif bar slowly and you will def feel full for a while. Pretzels also have artificial sugars that will totally sabotage you. :) | |||

| i LOVE doing yoga and always feel so great afterwards. Since most routines involve downward dog, I would also have to suggest you go to an instructor who can give you some poses that are wrist friendly. Any videos or DVDs you can get will prob not cater to your CT. Good luck! |

| dhwebb - I don't think the word "fan" quite covers my love for their music... I have the concert ticket reciepts from the past 10 years to prove it! hahah... OK GO just reminded me of another one, The Shout Out Louds is a good one for exercise. Soundgarden's Superunknown is also amazing. |

Wow, that was really an amazing article. It really gave me chills in 2 spots. One where Dr. Lustig said that the food industry either knowingly or unknowingly is "poisoning" people, and the second was that sugar can cause the same liver disease as alcoholism!!! Very eye opening, thanks for the post! |

| Hey there! I feel you guys on the gain..I was BACK at 154 today. I'm hoping its either muscle gain, or TTOTM gain. Or a combo of both. I really wish I lost when I drank too! Ive been saying no a lot more recently and have not noticed a damn thing. So, last night I had 2 beers and a glass of wine. And I'm going to a BYOB concert tonight, so Im sure I will have a couple there too...Hey, you have to live a little right??? haha.... hb - dont worry too much about what that scale says!! I started taking measurements and am only weighing myself every 2 weeks. It's much less stressful that way, and even when the scale says no change, or even a gain **gasp** ive lost inches. brookel - congrats on 147!!! thats awesome. If drinking beer works for you than I would say thats not too bad of a strategy..hahaha... |

| I think no matter what you do, one can find a study both supporting and denouncing it. It is SO confusing sometimes...I read something the other day saying that Papaya is a great toxin flusher and is great for your system. Then the same day I read something saying that Papaya is not good to eat if you are trying to lose weight..Its fruit for chrissakes!!! Let us know how it goes lissy! lol |

| I find that gas stations have some great quick snacks. Peanuts, cashews, trail mix, clif bars, power bars, diet soda, iced teas, water (obv). A lot of times they will have fruits like apples or bananas and i guess if you eat meat, some jerkys could be good too. Good luck! :) |

| Health & Support | Feeling that I may faint...Problem? | Jul 17 2007 02:41 (UTC) |

| I have the same problem and HAVE actually passed out in not so private places. I, like you, eat healthy, exercise moderately etc etc...Nothing out of the ordinary to sound off bells and whistles. Well, after my last public episode which without going into any detail ended up being humiliating to say the least..I went to my doctor. I told her all my symptoms and experiences etc etc..She did blood work, and hooked me up to an EKG just to be sure. In the end, I was medically healthy. I was told that with some people, especially with women, fainting can be fairly common and does not always signal a deeper problem. I still get that faint feeling you describe, sometimes daily. I just know now how to recognize and react to it. That said, you should also check with your doctor. :) |

| My first reaction is to ask how much water you drink every day? You could be retaining water due to high salt intake or other reasons. To battle water retention, you need to drink more water. | |||
